Not seeing any other option available Jordan dashed towards the books. His fear left him winded as his legs burned in pain. His mind was fraught with his inevitable death. Briefly, he looked behind him and still not seeing Tiffany of Sara. He glanced over at the Spider. He saw it moving in his direction but he was still unsure if it had seen him or not. However, every instinct in his body told him that he was already seen.
The books loomed closer and closer. He was unsure of what his plan would be next. He knew he needed something more but all he could think about in the moment was just finding cover. In the back of his mind, he thought about yelling for Sara but he was unsure if spiders had ears or how they dealt with sound. If he hadn’t been seen he didn’t want to scream and shout to draw attention towards himself.
“God, If I can just get out of this I will never leave Sara’s side. I swear it.” Jordan prayed as he neared the books. He could feel the perspiration form at his brow while darting his eyes about making sure no other dangers were about. Jordan found himself suddenly aware of his new vulnerabilities. Dangers he never considered are now grave threats. He realized he was stupid for perceiving the world as he did when he was large. He understood now that he needed to start looking at things from this new reality. A reality where he was no longer atop the food chain.
