Jordan’s chest slammed against the hardcover of the book. He kicked his legs back his feet striking the face of the spider but it didn’t seem to phase the large beast. As it pulled itself over Jordan. He could feel the hairs of the spider against him as the legs of the spider slammed down into the ground beside him. He looked upward as the spider stood completely over him.
“This is it,” Jordan shouted knowing there was nothing he could do. He closed his eyes tightly not wanting to have to watch the final moments of his life play out like this. His only regret was not throwing himself over the side of the coffee table as he replayed the last several moments in his head. Now realizing that he would much rather die from the fall or impact than the slow death of being this spider’s meal.
“What are you…shit.” Jordan heard the distant voice of Sara. It was like music to his ears but he knew it was to late. The spider was already on him. However, what Jordan didn’t know was that spiders unlike animals don’t quickly eat their prey. They eat their victims over several hours with the toxins they inject paralyzing the prey.
“You are serious, aren’t you? You could….I mean sure.” Jordan thought better of arguing back as he felt her gaze settle on his diminutive form. Like mother like daughter Jordan thought to himself as he started heading towards her phone.
