“I don’t think these two events are quite the same order of magnitude.” Jordan pointed out as he continued to clean Sara’s phone as she eats her cereal.
“I know, but you shouldn’t sell your shrinking thing short. It’s important too.” Sara said between crunches.
“Yeah…thanks. So not to change the subject or anything but I was wondering about shoes? I didn’t see any with the outfit you set out for me.” Jordan asked.
“Oh, that’s because I didn’t get you any. It seemed like a waste of money as I end up carrying you to most places anyway and if you are walking around on your own you are inside. The few times it might be an issue I can just wash you in the sink when I take you inside.”
“That’s umm very practical. But if I had shoes you wouldn’t need to wash me.” Jordan tried to point out.
“I thought you were trying to explain to me you’re an adult earlier and now you are trying to tell me you don’t need a bath. I told you you were just like the little squirts I babysit. They try to tell me the same thing. You will be cleaned daily mister.” Sara pointedly said
“That’s not what I meant. Let me explain. Let’s at least talk about the shoes.” Jordan argued.
“I think you’ve explained quite enough. We’ve established that I will be taking charge of your bathing routine from now on as you can’t be trusted to properly clean yourself. Secondly, if you want shoes. You need to demonstrate to me you deserve them and so far you’ve nearly gotten yourself killed and argued with me every step of the way. I’m trying to help you and I know this is a hard adjustment for you. But the reality is that you need protecting and you need someone watching over you. You can’t take care of yourself anymore. I’m sorry but you can’t. You just aren’t an adult anymore. You are still a person, you still have value. But you also have to accept that things are different now. The world is different.
