“Sara! SARA!!” Jordan screamed as his attempt of climbing the pocket wall ended in vain as he tumbled back down to the pit of her pocket. He had never felt smaller than he did at this moment. He had been discarded into her pocket like a trinket. Given no more thought or consideration than a person gives their phone. As he screamed upwards his voice was enveloped and lost in the void. As Sara left the garage he could feel her legs move the pocket he was stuck in forward and back. While her purse would press against the wall of the pocket banging him against her with every step that she took. The rumble of the garage door closing became and quieter and quieter as Sara walked down the driveway. While Jordan hated to admit it he did feel warmer in her pocket even though the notion of being tossed into here like this was humiliating.
“Oh hey, what are you up to? Nothing? Just what I wanted to hear. Can you be ready to go in about fifteen minutes? Great see you in a few.”
“Hey! Hey!! who was that? I thought we were going to my place. Did the plans change? Sara? Sara!?!” Jordan felt a wave of concern as he helplessly was bounced about the teen’s giant pocket. Any attempt to get her attention seemed to go unheard. He wasn’t sure if his voice was just lost and overpowered by the outside world or if she was actively ignoring him. Not having any other choice Jordan slunk down and sat down on the floor of Sara’s pocket. As he rode along in her pocket he felt immersed into her world in a way that he hadn’t ever before and it was humbling. If anyone saw her they would see just a normal teenage girl walking down the street. They would never guess that she had an entire person in her pocket. Each step seemed to just cement that reality further in his mind. He felt for the first time like he was just something that belonged to her. The truth of it all was he only had as much of a voice and opinion as Sara allowed him to have. In this new world people like him only continued to exist as humans for as long as people like Sara allowed it. As they say, there’s the rub.
