Jordan leaned over the side of the bowl. The steam from the Macaroni hit Jordan in the fast, causing him to sweat profusely. He looked at the Macaroni and then back up at Sara.
“Can I get a spoon or something?” Jordan asked.
“All the silverware is way bigger than you. I can get you one, but you’re not gonna be able to use it.” Sara said with a shrug.
Jordan looked down at the Macaroni and reached for the saucy noodles. As he reached his hand into the cheese sauce, he yelped in pain, pulled his hand back, and started blowing on it.
“god damn it,” Jordan said in anger as he shook his hand while still wincing in pain.
“It’s not that hot, but let me see,” Sara said, taking on a motherly tone as he looked at his small hand.
“I don’t need to be babied, but I appreciate the concern,” Jordan said, not wanting to sound ungrateful.
“Here,” Sara said, reaching for an apple from a nearby fruit bowl and setting it down on the countertop. Jordan climbed off her hand after she lowered it back down, and Jordan’s stomach rumbled as he walked over to the apple. As he turned his head and took a bite, as soon as his teeth hit the outer skin of the apple, they came to a stop. Jordan tried gnawing on the apple, but he could not penetrate the apple’s bright red skin. Sara audibly snickered before covering her mouth and stifling it after seeing the look on Jordan’s face.
“Sweetie, it’s okay.”
“It’s not okay. I can’t even eat a damn apple.” Jordan said, angered and defeated all at once.
“Here,” Sara said as she reached for the apple, grabbed it, and effortlessly took a bite out of the side of the apple before setting it back down on the counter. “Your jaw is probably not strong enough anymore, so just eat where I took a bite,” Sara said before taking another spoonful of Macaroni.
Jordan never felt more pitiful. The Macaroni burned him, and the apple skin was too tough for him. As he looked around at the apple, he could see traces of saliva left by Sara. The teeth marks in the bite were larger than his hand. Jordan bit into the apple at the edge of one of Sara’s bite marks, not having any other choice. He found with Sara’s bite had penetrated the skin, he could now take bites where she had bitten into the apple.
