Jordan looked about and saw several students, along with Emily staring down at Jordan and Sara. He started to feel his pulse race a bit as many strange eyes focused on him.
“Sara!”
“Yes, Mrs. Brooks, is there a problem?” Sara asked as she got her book out as Jordan neared her with the pencil.
“Are you okay? What is going on here?” Mrs. Brooks said as she approached Sara’s desk.
“What do you mean? I was just getting my book to work on the assignment like you just asked.” Sara said confusedly.
“I meant with him?” Mrs. Brooks said as she crossed her arms.
“Oh, He’s getting my pencil.”
“So your hands aren’t broken. I just assumed you must be injured since you’re having him fetch your pencil like some kind of servant. Mrs. Brooks said with a cross tone.
“No, I’m fine Mrs. Brooks,” Sara answered.
“The expectation is that everyone in this classroom is treated with dignity and respect irregardless of size. It would do you well to remember that.” Mrs. Brooks said sternly.
“Sorry Mrs. Brooks,” Sara said, knowing it was pointless to argue with Mrs. Brooks.
“I’m not the one you should apologize to.”
“Sorry Jordan,” Sara said as she grabbed the pencil from him.
“I would encourage everyone to go to the rally today after school. There will be guest speakers as well. Anyone who attends and writes a three-page paper will get twenty-five extra credit points. Be sure to include a few pictures with timestamps of yourself throughout the event.” Mrs. Brooks said before turning away.
“What have you done? I have to live with her” Jordan thought to himself as he looked at Emily, who walked back over to the marker board. He glanced upward at Sara and could see a look of fury spread across her face as she looked at the back of Mrs. Brooks. As Mrs. Brooks reached the board and turned around, Sara had replaced her look of anger with her normal sweet, outgoing face.
Jordan had a feeling he would somehow be blamed for this. The last few minutes of class flew by as Jordan sat on Sara’s desk with concern. As class came to an end, Jordan watched the large students walk by on either side of him. It made him realize he hadn’t been all that close to another man while at this size. They mainly were larger than Sara, some in height, others in muscle, and a few had both. Jordan didn’t say anything as Sara’s hand swept around him as Sara walked out of the classroom with her friends.
