Sara continued down the hallway as large student after a large student streamed by on either side of her. He knew it was something he was going to have to get used to. However, it was difficult to ever grow comfortable with feeling so vulnerable. It was all so uneasy. Jordan hadn’t been in many fights in his life. So seeing the heated exchange between Kaitlyn and Sara was unnerving.
If at any point Kaitlyn had shoved Sara, or if she took a swing at her, Jordan wondered what would have happened to him. Even the inverse of the situation. What if Sara moved to push Kaitlyn or attempted to punch her? The idea that he could have easily been dislodged from his perch.
Jordan wanted badly to push those thoughts from his mind. As he knew, dwelling on such thoughts wasn’t healthy. He would need to accept the risks that his newfound stature came with. So it would just be best to purge his mind of such horrific imagery. Since he had been with Sara, he hadn’t been aware of all she had done to shield him from the reality of it all. It seemed so silly now how indignant he had been.
“This is a shortcut,” Sara said, jarring Jordan from his thoughts. He looked forward seeing a large metal door that had a sign affixed to it that read emergency exit.
“Uhhh, not to be a backseat driver here, but this is an emergency exit.” Jordan pointed out from Sara’s hand.
“Yeah, and if we just hop up a level, we are right next door to science. Just relax. I do this all the time.” Sara said as she flashed a smile toward her small friend.
“Grrreeeaaaaattttt; how was I ever worried,” Jordan said in a monotone voice with lackluster enthusiasm.
“You just need to embrace your Hakuna Matata,” Sara said.
“Don’t you mean carpe diem?” Jordan questioned.
“No, Hakuna Matata it means no worries. Have you not seen the Seminole film of our generation, the Lion King?” Sara asked as she started to make her way up the stairs. “It’s so good! they
“I’ve seen the lion king. I guess it didn’t have as big of an impact on me as it did on you.”
