The body heat from Maisy’s finger radiated into Jordan’s hands as he continued to grasp her finger. Jordan was in good shape as he had taken to doing a morning jog in high school, and it’s one of the few things that kind of stuck. It’s only been since he found himself stricken with Smallara that he has found his ability to take a morning run curtailed.
“So we’re going to need him to do as many pull-ups as possible,” Maisy said to Sara as if he weren’t present. It bothered him how she would speak to him but not really speak to him at all. She was constantly talking to him through Sara.
“We will need to develop a regiment for him. Maybe we can meet up after school this week and plan out how we want to test him and then we can get a full data set of numbers.”
“That’s a good idea. As I believe, we would hypothesize that the subject would get more fit over the course of the semester. As call him over to you.”
Sara looked down at Jordan, who had gotten to his second pull-up when he released his grip on Maisy’s finger and dropped down to the tabletop. He sighed as he jogged over to Sara.
“See? Even that slight movement resulted in him having to jog in order to reach you within an acceptable timeframe. Think of all the times he has to do that each day. Then lifting things up would be a decent workout for him.
“You are probably right. I would agree with that hypothesis.” Sara said as Jordan glared up at her with an unhappy look. As he side-eyed Maisy, he found that he did not like this person.
“I was wondering. What is it like taking care of him? Is it all that different than caring for a dog? It seems like it would be simpler as they are smarter than most pets.” Maisy as she briefly glanced down at Jordan before looking back at Sara.
Jordan, for his part, had just about enough of being talked down to. He wasn’t about to stand around while this teen spoke of him as some kind of advanced dog that Sara now had.
“Ixnay on the etpay.” Sara said as her hand draped over Jordan, forcing him down to the ground.
