Jordan couldn’t believe how large this gym was. He had gotten the picture that this was a pretty upscale school in comparison to the public school he had attended but this gym was quite literally a basketball arena or so it seemed.
As Sara and her crew walked further into the gym Jordan was met with trepidation. He didn’t like the idea of going to Gym class but he also wasn’t in any position to stop it. He had already made his protest known and was promptly overruled.
All of that seemed secondary as the gym teacher turned around and Jordan saw one of his best friends Daniela Sanchez. They had met in college and become fast friends. She had gone for a degree in sports medicine, however, post-college the market was tight and when they had met for coffee a few weeks ago she had mentioned getting a job as a Physical Education instructor to pay the bills.
Seeing her now with him in this state wasn’t something Jordan was ready for. It was hard enough wrapping his brain around the fact this minuscule, meek body was truly his own. How was he supposed to face one of his friends like this?
“Sara, maybe I should spend this class with Chloe. Just for safety concerns.” Jordan said
“I don’t think you need to worry. It looks like they have a little facility for you. Look at how cute it is. This is just what you wanted right? It may not be a little car or a little neighborhood but you have a little gym facility” Ellie said as she pointed at the small fenced-in area sitting on top of a table.
“See, no need to bother Chloe. You were worried for nothing.” Sara said as the gaggle of girls continued further into the gym much to Jordan’s dismay as he stared at his now gigantic friend who was apparently Sara’s gym teacher.
“Hey, Mrs. Sanchez. I just wanted you to know I have an underbred now. Some of my teachers didn’t have the updated class roster.” Sara said as she walked towards Daniela much to Jordan’s chagrin.
“Sara, I told you before I don’t like that term. It’s derogatory.” Jordan heard Daniela scold. Jordan found it weird to hear the girls calling her Mrs. Sanchez. When to him she’s still the person who drank so much she threw up and passed out in a puddle of her vomit that he then helped her sit up, clean up, and then took her home.
“Sorry Mrs. Sanchez,” Sara said with a bit of frustration mixed with attitude.
“I mean it. It’s important that you still think of them as people. Outside of the size difference, they are just like you and me. I don’t need you to be sorry Sara. I need you to be better.”
“Yes, of course, Mrs. Sanchez,” Sara said hiding her annoyance by using an overly sweet tone.
