“I did see that class roster update, thank you. Now, who is your little friend? Hello, I’m…Jordan is that you? I-I hadn’t heard from you in a minute, but I never thought….”
“Wait, how do you know Mrs. Sanchez?” Sara said, shifting her eyes between the two of them.
“Why are you with her? How do you two know each other?”Daniela asked, eyeing Jordan and Sara.” There was an awkward pause before Daniela Sanchez spoke up again. “I guess you did ask first. We’ve been friends since college. So, what’s your story?”
“Well, I was just mowing my yard when he threw himself at me, begging for my help. So, I kindly took him inside, and we tried calling the hotline, but the hospitals here were already full up and not accepting any patients. Since I had already taken my guardianship classes and passed the testing. I was able to take him in after a lot of begging, promising, and convincing of the parentals, but I couldn’t let him go into the system.” Sara said.
“Wait, I, I don’t even know where to begin. Did you call his parents? Surely there was a family member or someone to take him in. I would gladly step in if you like Jordan?”
“Are you even a Guardian, Mrs. Sanchez? You need to take the classes and pass the tests.” Sara said defensively.
“Well, no, they are very expensive, but I also didn’t know you weren’t immune, Jordan. You should have said something. I would have checked up on you more, and I could have found a way to afford the classes.” Daniela said.
“I’m a really good Guardian, Mrs. Sanchez, and I have his best interests at heart.”
“Sara, you are an excellent student and always so well-mannered. But you have to understand he deserves to be with his friends and family. This must be some kind of mistake.”
“I’m not stopping him from seeing his family or his friends, Mrs. Sanchez. This just happened on Saturday, and I didn’t even know you two knew each other. So I’m sure you understand with all the paperwork and selling his house and…”
“Wait selling his house? Why are you selling his house?”
“Well, he lives with me now, and that house is way too big for him. I guess I could have moved in there, but I’m still in school, and then I have plans to go to college out of state. So it just made sense to sell off the house and stuff.”
“Look, you seem to have a really good understanding of this, but you need to understand Jordan is an idiot. He didn’t believe in all this. He thought it was a hoax. I tried to tell him, and Ooo, I can’t believe you, Jordan. Look, I can call his parents, and we can work something out.”
“What are you trying to work out, Mrs. Sanchez? I guess I’m not following here.” Sara said as she crossed her arms and took a bit more of a defensive stance. While Jordan darted his eyes between the two giant women.
