“Really, your best friend just happens to be my Gym teacher, and your ex-girlfriend happens to be my English teacher,” Sara said in a tone that told Jordan she was less than impressed.
“I had no idea she worked here, and she was just worried about me. You could have been nicer and never told me this arrangement was permanent.” Jordan said.
“I thought you knew, and I had no idea you were an unbeliever. Like people are shrinking all around the world. What did you think was happening.” Sara said, defending herself.
“I thought it was mostly political, and the news was blowing it all out of proportion. I had no idea it was this serious till I actually shrunk. Then I just assumed in the next year or two they would build little houses and neighborhoods for those afflicted.” Jordan shouted.
“Wait, like you thought they would just drop 30 Barbie dreamhouses in someone’s backyard?” Sara said between fits of laughter. “What were you going to do about birds, mice, bugs, etc? They would all be predators.”
“Well, I…well, it clearly needed a little workshopping, but I’m not the city planner. I’m sure some kind of dome could be built over it. But that’s not even the point. I don’t have a job or a home, or…”
“Shhhh, I thought we had gone over this. You live with me now, and I’ve been taking care of everything, so this transition can be smooth.” Sara said as she smiled warmly while watching Jordan struggle against her shirt and hand. “You are my whitto man from now on.”
“I had no idea you paid 40 grand to keep me from whatever the alternative is. I don’t even know how to pay that back. I guess the proceeds from the house sale, but I’m sure there will be other expenses.” Jordan said in a frustrated tone.
“Oh, sweetie, there have been more expenses than 40 grand. I didn’t say anything because it’s nothing you need to worry about. Besides, even if I told you, what were you going to do about it? You don’t have the kind of money to keep yourself out of a facility. But enough on this. This is all waaayy above you. So don’t worry about it. You can just focus on being my whitto man.” Sara said, smiling as she approached her friends.
“It’s the little prince!” Ellie said jokingly. “What was that all about? It looked intense.” Ellie said, looking over at Ms. Sanchez briefly.
“It was horrible, Ellie. Mrs. Sanchez tried to buy Body Hottie from me, and she was basically saying how much better than me she would be at caring for him.
