The dance studio had an industrial look to it. It was clearly converted from a warehouse of some kind at some point. Jordan always has had an appreciation for an industrial look. Now at his new reduced height, he found much of this to be lost on him. The only thing he could focus on as he labored to catch his breath was the behemoth forms of Dayton and her friend Nicole.
Jordan already felt a bit heated over Dayton carelessly picking up the phone and letting him just dangle off it for several moments. His fear of heights had kicked in fully, and all he could think about in the moment was falling which amounted to many times his height.
He knew it was partly out of ignorance but ignorance is no excuse. If it wasn’t for her friend he would have been still dangling off the phone he suspected.
Now as Dayton walked toward Sara and Stephanie the phone swayed from side to side causing Jordan to have to fight to maintain his balance. This all had led to him wanting nothing to do with either girl. It was bad enough that he was under the control of his teenage neighbor.
Dayton came to a halt just out of Sara’s earshot with all the other noise in the dance studio of the dance class leaving and getting picked up. Jordan looked over at Sara and then back up at Dayton. He desperately wanted to be in Sara’s hands at this moment. As he looked at her she might as well have been a mile away.
“You’re going to tell Sara you want to hang out with us,” Dayton said
Jordan remembered his time with Dayton previously at her house. She made it clear that she believed that she was in charge of him when Sara was not around. While Jordan didn’t like it he understood Sara was in charge and that there was a nonzero chance that he would have to spend his life as her little man. Dayton was another matter altogether.
Being with Sara permanently felt especially true after today. He had no idea about her mental health struggles. Now he was literally going to be her support companion. The more Jordan thought about it. Everything made more sense with this knowledge about Sara. He thought it was strange she was intending to bring him to work with her yesterday. Even getting him set up so she could take him to school. While the guise of it was that it wasn’t safe to be left alone and she wanted him to have a proper education. All of that may be true but it seems like it wasn’t the true motive Jordan thought.
“Did you hear me?” Dayton said as she shook the phone sending Jordan falling face-first into the screen of Sara’s phone. Jordan groaned in a bit of pain as he pulled himself up to his knees.
Dayton looked down at Jordan satisfied that he was giving her his full attention now. She then moved her index finger above Jordan and pressed her finger against his back forcing him back down so that he was pressed against the phone. Jordan tried to push back but instantly felt the futility of his struggle.
“So do we have an understanding?” Dayton asked once again.
“Y-yes, just let me up,” Jordan said hating that he was stuck in this position.
“See Nicolle, we only need to actually listen to Sara. She’s the real adult. This shrimp will do what we say. Isn’t that right?” Dayton said as she pushed Jordan a bit harder against the phone.
“Yes Dayton,” Jordan said in a defeated tone. At the moment he knew there was nothing he could do. It was infuriating and he wanted to turn around and snap at the both of them. At his current size, he knew that was no longer a wise decision.
Dayton smiled as she moved her finger off of Jordan helping him back up to his feet while giving him a gentle pat on the back signifying she was pleased with his answers as long as he followed through with what he had said.
“Just remember no one likes a tattle tale. If you tell Sara anything I would hate to have to run over to her in tears saying how you said a bunch of mean things to me and who do you think she’s going to believe? Me in tears or you?” Dayton said with a smirk before looking over at her friend Nicolle causing both girls to laugh as they approached Sara and Stephanie.
