As they drove to Dayton’s house Sara felt bad for tossing Jordan to the wolves in the backseat. She had wanted to surprise him with a call with his parents. She didn’t understand why he hadn’t said much in regard to contacting them. If roles were reversed she would at least want her parents to know she was okay and safe.
So when Sara opened the message she was surprised to see it wasn’t Jordan’s mother but his sister. Jordan hadn’t even mentioned ever having a sister to her. As she read over the message Sara found out that his parents were also affected in the last outbreak. Her stomach immediately sunk as she now had the responsibility of telling him that his family were also victims of Smallera. The only positive thing Sara had to tell him was that his sister Allison was apparently immune.
Over a series of messages, Sara learned that Allison was Jordan’s younger sister. She had come home and found their parents shrunk. She had been trying to get ahold of Jordan but she hadn’t been able to. She was able to request that her parent’s 401k plans be partially cashed out to get enough money to pay to keep them out of the system and pay for guardian classes that she was about to start. Allison was then able to file a form that assigned her parents to her but they would not be released into her custody until after she completed guardian classes and all fees were paid.
Sara reassured Allison that Jordan was well taken care of. She sent pictures of the small habitat she had made to keep him safe along with a few other assorted pictures she had taken of him since the ordeal began. While bringing up that perhaps they could arrange a video chat. As it may do the siblings some good to be able to at least see each other.
As Sara continued to drive and talk with Stephanie her mind was mostly on the short exchange she had been having with Jordan’s sister Allison. Sara felt relief that she was the first one to get into contact with her. She had been able to explain everything to Allison including how his friends were colluding to try to take him. Allison assured her she hadn’t had any contact with them and after hearing what they were doing she wasn’t going to.
Now that Sara had Allison’s information she had every intention of staying in close contact with her. She knew it would do Jordan some good to have access to his family. If things went well maybe she could even arrange an in-person meeting.
