“Hmm, whatever we do has to be for three people,” Nicolle said as she lightly scratched her chin thinking.
“Really two people and a pet.” Dayton asserted as she looked over at Jordan who couldn’t help but notice she never missed an opportunity to make it known he was not her equal.
“Let’s play with your new remote control car again. I didn’t get a turn yesterday.” Nicolle said looking over at the car.
“I don’t mind but he’s much too little to work the controls and too weak to hold my phone to control it with the app,” Dayton said as she looked down at Jordan in Nicolle’s hand. She didn’t like how he appeared so comfortable with Nicolle and she wondered if it was because she went through guardian training. After all, her sibling caught the virus.
“That’s where the fun comes into play. As we are driving the car and we have a real driver.”
“This is not a good idea,” Jordan said as Dayton plucked Jordan from Nicolle’s hand and held him in front of her face.
“You need to be this tall to have an opinion,” Dayton said with a smirk as she held her other hand at waist height.
Nicolle had already opened the bedroom door as the two girls headed downstairs. While Jordan squirmed and pressed against Dayton’s hand but was unable to do much anything to move her fingers one way or the other.
“Let’s do this out in the backyard where there is more room,” Dayton said as she opened the sliding glass door to the backyard. The girls trudged onto the patio and down the stairs towards the yard when Dayton tripped.
Jordan felt himself fly forward as Dayton managed to catch herself. It was much too late for Jordan who flew through the air. His small voice lost as the air rushed around him before he finally landed roughly in the tall grass of the backyard.
Jordan rolled end over end several times before finally coming to a rest. He groaned in pain as he moved his limbs astonished that he didn’t break anything.
“I really thought that was it,” Jordan said to himself as he slowly picked himself up. The tall blades of grass towered over him.
“Do you see where he went? We have to find him.” Jordan heard the voice of Dayton say.
“I think he went out towards the yard. We are gonna have to search for him but watch your step. You don’t want to crush him. I’ll go get Sara.”
“Noo! You can’t tell Sara. I”ll get into trouble. Look let’s just look around first. We’ll probably be able to find him pretty quickly. We don’t need to bother Sara unless we have to.
