Jordan knew that he needed to try a new strategy as he wouldn’t be able to outrun either of these two giants. It was only a matter of time before they found him. Jordan watched as Dayton unconsciously lifted her foot and swiped it from left to right.
The first thought that he had was to hide somewhere. He could see in the distance what looked like an empty box of Chinese food. If he could make it to the box that would be an easy place for him to hide. Jordan liked the spot in theory however the more he thought about it. It was too big. They would most certainly look inside and then he would be trapped inside the box of Chinese food with nowhere to run or hide.
Slinking further into the grass Jordan crouched down as he continued to hide from the girls. Each moment the sweeping foot of Nicolle drew closer and closer. Dayton took a few more steps forward as she looked intently down at the grass below her.
Jordan cringed as he saw Dayton reach downward. She was far enough away he knew that it couldn’t possibly be him, could it? He held his breath afraid to even move as Dayton bent down. He could see the frustration mixed with a hint of anger on her face. Dayton’s brow furrowed as her lips scrunched together. She lifted up a quarter sliding it into her pocket.
The near sighting made Jordan more aware than ever of his predicament. Jordan changed from a crouched position to laying fully flat on his stomach and the army crawled along the ground. He was now fully shrouded and the hope was that it would be even harder to spot him.
A gust of wind blew over him from Nicolle’s foot while the ground shook from Dayton’s footstep. Jordan felt like he was in some kind of video game more than any kind of reality. He was literally hiding from two giant tweens looking to find him.
Watching Dayton’s foot move about gave Jordan an idea. They were busy looking in the grass for him. If he could climb onto the heel of one of their shoes he would be in a bit of a blindspot as they were looking forward down at the grass. They would never suspect to look at them. So when they inevitably gave up he could just drop off the shoe.
The two biggest issues Jordan could think of were just in general surviving. The other issue was that he had no actual plan. If he really was going to run, where would he be running too? Where is he going to live? What is he going to do about food?
