Sara struggled with how best to communicate this to Jordan. She understood that he was grown. She wasn’t trying to dictate every moment of his life. However, she couldn’t just have him running about wildly or climbing out of things. What if she turned suddenly because she thought he was in a pocket or purse but in actuality, Jordan had climbed out and now was flying over a ledge or railing?
The idea of him falling or if he ended up on the floor and she stepped on him. She would be the one who would have to live with the fact she killed him. It was infuriating that he didn’t seem to get any of this. He only seemed to see what he wanted to see and that was her being the bad guy.
She had been trying to avoid this as she didn’t want to have to be the disciplinarian. However, she saw no other way to get through to him. If he kept trying to leave where he was put she was going to have to do more than scold him.
“You’re still my wittle man though. I could never stay mad at you.” Sara said as she gave him a few pets before walking over to her editing desk and setting him down before briefly pulling out her phone and sending out a few messages before putting her phone away and setting Jordan down onto the desk.
“Sorry, I was checking with my cousin Alex about Mocha. I had spoken to her previously about taking Mocha if things didn’t work out. Since they clearly haven’t I’m seeing if she will still take him.” Sara said.
Jordan did feel a little bad for forcing Sara’s hand on Mocha but he knew he had made the right choice. As he deserved to feel safe as well. This was going to be his home after all too. After these little teething issues of them merging their lives together, he was sure it would be easier on both sides.
“What do you mean spoke to her about this before?”
“Well, I’m not blind to the fact that Mocha could be a problem. Especially after he almost hurt you just minutes after you were brought inside and left alone briefly. So I had some things in place just in case.” Sara said as she dug into her pocket and pulled out her AirPods.
“Now here are my AirPods. You will also need to clean them each night. I always hate how they seem to get earwax on them after extended use no matter how diligently I clean my ears.”
“What? You were serious about me keeping track of them and now I also have to clean them? This sounds like stuff your mom just asked you to do.” Jordan argued.
“And now I’m making it your responsibility. I told you at the start I would have chores scaled down to your size. This is something that you can do. We all have to pull our own weight around here Jordy.”
Jordan walked over to the AirPods looking into the case. Even though he was small now he didn’t expect them to be as large as they were. He looked up at Sara briefly seeing that she was serious and now making sure she didn’t leave them lying around and maintaining them was his responsibility.
