“I do want you to know that I also appreciate you taking on this responsibility. But, if you really don’t want to. I won’t make you.” Sara said sympathetically. “I know you have a lot to deal with and me being as extra as I can be sometimes doesn’t make it easier.”
“No, I’ll do it. It’s kind of nice to have a task that specific even if it is a bit mundane. I would feel better if I could work you know.” Jordan said as he pulled out one of the AirPods and grabbed the cloth from the bucket Sara had said set next to him.
“Hmmm, they don’t have much for little job availability at the moment. Once we finish school things should be sorted out by then. You could even go to work with me. Imagine a little desk on top of my desk that you can work off of. How cute would that be? Just picture your little phone and little office chair.” Sara said innocently. “it would be so adorbs.”
“What kind of Job are you wanting to do anyway? I thought you were a streamer.”
“Well I am but my parents don’t consider that a career. So I have to go to college or a trade school. As they want me to have an actual skill I can fall back on.”
“Well, that makes sense,”
“I knew you were going to be on their side. You 1900ers stick together.”
“I’m not old! I keep telling you I’m in my 20s.”
“I’m just messin’ with you bro. It does make sense. I’m leaning towards something with computers. Maybe computer science or something like that. It makes good money and I kind of like coding.”
“You are such a nerd,” Jordan said with a laugh as he continued to scrub Sara’s AirPods. The work was actually more intricate than he had anticipated. It was apparent that Sara hadn’t done the best job cleaning them. As many of the ridges had dirty points plus the speaker vents had gunk in some of them. As Jordan continued to work on them he found that much of this probably isn’t as easy for her to clean. As with his smaller hands, he can easily clear away the debris and pull can clean the speaker without damaging it.
It felt nice for one of the first times since the ordeal began that his size was truly useful. Granted cleaning AirPods wasn’t some life-changing chore. But it was nice to find something that he could do well because of his size that a Tallie(Tall-e) like Sara couldn’t do.
“So since we’re just talking here. I’ve been wondering do I need to do anything to be your therapy companion?” Jordan asked as he grabbed the other AirPod from the case.
“Well, I mostly need you for my anxiety and depression. So having you with me is helpful. I also have medication that keeps me balanced which I usually refer to as my happy pills. But, that’s normally why I take you places. As knowing you are readily available is important. You are mostly for companionship and reassurance according to my therapist. Petting you is also beneficial as well as caring for you.” Sara said.
“Well, that doesn’t seem too bad. I don’t know what I pictured but that seems doable.”
“I know this isn’t going to be easy for us and we are still feeling each other out. Especially for you as you didn’t ask for any of this. But, I really think this can be good for both of us. I know right now it feels like your life might be over but I have a feel ideas about that. I have planned a little meet-up planned to socialize you with someone your own size.” Sara said excitedly.
“Oh…wait what?”
