Sara stopped directly in front of him. As he craned his neck back it was impossible to see much above her stomach from his spot on the floor. Jordan had been this close to almost no one outside of Dayton in the yard. Jordan briefly shuddered at the thought of Dayton once again. She was a real piece of work. He hated to even fathom what life under her would be like.
“So I got you this little buggy.”
“Dayton tried this. I appreciate the sentiment but I don’t want to be driven around like that.” Jordan said as the idea of being a passenger as someone drove him around in some kind of remote-controlled car was just not his idea of fun.
“I’m not going to drive you around it’s not a toy silly. This is made for littles. It has a battery that I have to charge that powers the engine. I was charging it in the closet but we can probably find a better place for it.
“Wait you mean like I can drive it like a car?”
“Yeah, I was originally going to get you one that looked just like your SUV. But, that seemed a bit too cruel with how Mom sold it. Plus I like being able to see you.”
“So like I just drive this around?”
“Yeah, the idea is that eventually, you could use it to be more self-sufficient. But, right now you probably shouldn’t leave my room with it unless I tell you it’s okay.” Sara said trying to emphasize as much as possible that he was not to leave the room.
“You swear this is like under my own power. You aren’t remotely controlling it.”
“I’m not remotely controlling it. There is a safety override feature in the phone app where I can cut power to the vehicle or in theory take control if you were disabled and I couldn’t get to the vehicle. But, it’s not its intended purpose to be a remote control toy car like Daytons.” Sara said which Jordan was okay with. He understood from a safety aspect why the override was there, but was glad he wasn’t going to be driven around.
“We do have a few rules. We covered rule #1 which is not leaving my bedroom with it. #2, you are not to leave your vehicle parked out in the open. If I step on or trip over your vehicle not only will it be taken away you will be in so much trouble. #3, when you’re done park it under my bed for now. We will eventually get a better spot.”
“Yeah, no problem Sara,” Jordan said trying to contain a bit of his excitement over the process of being able to drive around under his own power.
“Why do I feel like you aren’t listening? I swear you boys have one mind. Bring out a car or anything tinker, play, or fool around with, and that’s all that’s on your mind.”
“I’m listening! Don’t leave the room, park it underneath your messy bed, and don’t leave it out in the open.”
“It’s not that messy. Everything has a place underneath there. Rule #4 is do not drive into my ankles, feet, shins, or anything else you can reach with it. It will result in a punishment.”
“What if it’s like an accident? Like not saying I would just like if I’m driving and your walking and things just come together wrong.”
“Pedestrians have the right of way. So, I’m sure you can figure out what would happen.”
“What kind of punishment are we talking about here? Once again not saying it would happen. Just trying to get the full picture here. Are we talking grounding again”
“No, we aren’t talking about grounding. You’ve been here long enough to put together how discipline occurs around here.”
