The one thing Jordan wasn’t prepared for in all of this was just the level of devotion that Sara had for Taylor Swift. Jordan tried to come up with something he similarly cared about but was struggling. The more worrisome thing coming out of the exchange was the fact that businesses were installing machines that could detect littles.
The statements and urgency Sara showed about getting him a collar was starting to fall into place for him. Clearly, you were not going to be able to bring an unregistered little anywhere before too long. As he knew if they were scanning for littles they would also be scanning for collars. He understood he had a more fancy collar than most but even the basic collars he saw at Pet Smart probably had some kind of chip in them that would pass along registration data to the machine when a little passes through. So if it detects a little without registration they would immediately know Jordan suspected.
“Oh, hey Allison! How are you doing? That’s great. No, I’m not busy at all just hanging out in my room.” Sara said as she sat back down in her floating chair.
“Allison? Is that my sister? It can’t be. She probably knows other Allisons. It’s not exactly an uncommon name.” Jordan said to himself as he pushed the start button on his buggy. The engine rumbled to life sounding just like it should. Jordan couldn’t believe it. He was going to have to look under the hood but he wanted to drive it a bit first.
As he depressed the gas pedal almost immediately he felt way more kick than he would have expected. The buggy shook him a bit as he accelerated briefly before putting the buggy back into park letting it idle as he looked over the features.
“Oh yeah, he’s doing fine. I got him this little dune buggy he is very excited about it. Yeah, he’s in it now. self-powered. I want to use it so he can get around the house eventually.”
Jordan paused his exploration of the car as Sara continued her conversation. It seemed like she was talking to his sister but that didn’t seem like it would be right. As he knew Sara had reached out to her but he told her how he felt.
“The class me and my friend Ellie took was like 4 to 5 months. Yeah, we lived in town so we could commute locally but some stayed on campus. The dorms are super nice.”
“Sara! Are you talk…”
“Just a sec Al. Jordan, I’m on the phone what is it?
“Are you talking to Allison?”
“Yes, Now unless it’s truly important please don’t interrupt me when I’m on the phone. You will have to wait. It’s so rude.”
“Wait is…” Jordan managed to get out wanting clarification on if it was his sister Allison or not but Sara had already gone back to her conversation.
“Sorry, I didn’t think I’d have to cover phone etiquette,” Sara said with a slight laugh as she leaned back in the chair. “So like I was saying the campus is super nice. The dorms are like mini apartments. They have like a small kitchen living room area then like two bedrooms. yeah, totally you have your own space.” Sara said as Jordan listened in but only hearing Sara’s side of the conversation made it awkward and he didn’t dare interrupt her again unless it was actually necessary.
