“Don’t know how you lived without me either? I know that’s what I’m saying. Now you have all your little outfits put together, and you look so cute each day. All the girls tell me how cute you look in them. This spa is really supposed to help with your skin.”
“Mal, I’m not the spa kind of guy. Wouldn’t it be better..”
“That we experience it together. I know, babe. That’s why we are skipping class today. I fully agree it’s important that we lift each other up in this relationship, and I am here for you today as we take part in your first spa day. They even have tiny technicians who deal with people with your disability. I know it’s a little spendy, but this is all our money. Just because you don’t work, I don’t want you to think this is all my money. Oh, just a sec babe; Sara is calling.”
“Hey, Sara! How’s class today? What’s that, Gavin?”
“Sara! We are going to Blossom Spa Therapy! Take my place, please. Jordan and I can do something else.” Gavin shouted as loud as he could, hoping Mallory’s cell phone picked up his voice.
“Gavin, speak up so Sara can hear you. Gavin says hi Sara. He is just so excited about this Spa day. He was saying next time, you and Jordan should come along with us. I’ve never seen him beyond words like this in excitement. Yeah, yeah, it really is a good idea. I guess he does have those every now and then.” Mallory Said jokingly as Sara and Mallory laughed.
“Babe, Sara thinks it’s a great idea too. If we like it, we can all make a day of it next weekend. Here hold my phone while I order us lunch.” Mallory said as she dropped her phone down to Gavin, who silently cried out in a bit of pain as the phone slammed into his back, nearly causing his legs to buckle as it slid down his back before he finally managed to grab onto the bottom of the phone with his hands.
“Mal, Mal, it’s..”
“I got you, Gav, of course, I can put the phone in speaker mode for you. You are so considerate. It’s really like you are a new boyfriend.”
“Sara, can hear you me? Great, just a second while I order. Yeah, iced mocha frappe and an order of fries and, hmmm, I guess, a bacon cheeseburger. Today can be our cheat day…..you can just eat off mine babe. I know what your thinking. I said last time we could get a soda instead of a frappe as the frappe is too difficult for you to drink, but I thought of everything, babe. Would you be able to fill this bottle cap up with some Coke? You can charge me for a kids’ soda.” Mallory said, digging a bottle cap out of her bookbag and handing it to the clerk.
“Mal, please, it’s…”
“too much that I thought of you? You are so silly. This is what we do for each other in this relationship. But yeah, Sara, are you still there? Great, yeah Gavin and I will be in class tomorrow. Are you picking us up in Body Hottie’s car tomorrow? What? Sorry, the car formerly known as Body Hottie’s car? Ok, great, see you then.” Mallory said as she ended the call.
