Desmond’s gasped for air as he crouched down. His side screamed in pain from running. As he looked about, he saw what was now a massive basketball court. He had caught Smallera a week ago, and his life has been a living hell ever since.
He had spent the past few days living off discarded food and drinking water from puddles of water he would find. However, the weather had turned warmer the past couple of days, making such puddles about as common as popsicle stands in the Sahara.
The first few days, Desmond had scoffed at drinking from dirty water puddles on the ground. Then, as his thirst overtook him, he happily drank and ate the refuge left behind by what are now giant beings.
Booming laughter could be heard in the distance. Desmond didn’t pay it much mind. As the loud voices of the giants were omnipresent. It didn’t take long for Desmond to realize things were different this time. The ground rumbled and groaned like an old man trying to get out of bed in the morning. He could feel the ground of the basketball court vibrate.
Fear raged through Desmond as he saw two giants heading his way. He mustered all his strength and started heading off the basketball court. He knew he was vulnerable in the open, and the last thing he wanted was to be discovered. Desmond had heard the horror stories.
Surprisingly Desmond made it to the edge of the court and crawled through the fence. He felt safer and breathed a sigh of relief. However, the trembling didn’t stop. The boisterous voices grew louder and louder. It wasn’t long till he saw the two giants rounding the corner. He cursed his luck. Surely, fate was against him this day as he surely thought they would have cut through the basketball courts like most of the giants do.
Desmond took off, running, fearful of being discovered. It wasn’t long before he knew this was an error. The ground trembled like he hadn’t felt before. He had been so careful to avoid the now giants. They grew closer and closer with each step. Soon he found himself unable to stand. Fear ran through him as they drew near.
The scuffed and ratty shoes of the female giant landed beside him. He was saying to himself not to say a word in his mind. Be as soundless as a ninja. It sounded good. In his head, he was being cool, calm, and collected. The reality spoke a different story. As the female giant’s worn dirt-ridden shoes assaulted the ground next to him, he let out a horrific cry as he stared up at what looked to be miles-tall beings.
