Jordan wanted to question why she couldn’t just get herself ready without him, but as soon as he had the thought, he already knew the answer. “
“I know that look. Don’t think I can’t see your little face. You need constant supervision. Just because Mocha isn’t around anymore doesn’t mean there still aren’t bugs, mosquitoes, and who knows what else.” Sara said with a tone of authority before bending down with a smile on her face and switching to a cutesy voice to say, “I gotta protect my wittle pet mansy.” Sara said before reaching down with one hand and giving Jordan a pet.
He knew that would be the answer, and it irritated him a bit that she was right. The other day, he made a big stink about doing things himself, and he was almost devoured alive by a spider. Jordan grabbed the clothes she had and started putting them on. As he looked at them, they looked a bit different from the uniform he had on before. But, having never been to a private school, he wasn’t sure exactly how the dress code worked.
“It’s officially autumn as far as the school is concerned, so we have to wear autumn/winter uniforms. They aren’t quite as breathable as the spring/summer uniforms. I know it sucks, but it is what it is.” Sara said, noting the confused expression on his tiny face before averting her eyes back towards her phone.
As Jordan slipped on the school uniform, he couldn’t help but hate every part of it as he teetered on the uneven surface of Sara’s bed. The folds and wrinkles in the blanket were all large enough to be natural obstacles that he had to keep in mind as he got dressed. While bothersome, if he had to narrow down all the things he didn’t like about catching Smallara. The leading reason was being thrust back into high school and probably college at whatever school Sara decided to attend.
Sara looked away from her phone and down at Jordan once again as she let out an impatient sigh. She was trying to let him be a little independent. But every urge in her body said to reach down and dress him herself. She knew she could have been done by now. It bothered her how slow he was at times like these. It seemed like he was lost in thought and not concentrating on the matter at hand. He should be singularly focused on getting dressed, and then he can focus on his morning chores.
She knew from her training that it would be best to wait and give him more time to ease into the situation, as it hadn’t even been a week yet. So, he was bound to dwell on everything he had lost. But, she wished he would think more about how lucky he was to fall into such a good situation. Not every little is going to fall into a good home where they are loved, looked after, and cared for as well as he is.

1, Sara can’t get ready herself because of ego, it feels nice to have others do things for you.
2, this school had seasonal uniforms? My school was lucky if we wore both the unifshirt and the pants. (To be clear most peopleshowed up in random pants no one we t to school pantsless)
3, it’s good that Sara’s waiting for him, bit hypocritical of her to be annoyed he isn’t concentrating haven’t her ADHD lol.
4, I still cringe when ever Sara considers him ‘lucky’ only 7.5% of the human population are vulnerable to smallara, which means luckwise Jordan is in the bottom 7.5 percent. Sara needs to be grateful for her own luck and remember she isn’t a perfect guardian and isn’t entitled to his gratitude.
5, Sara knows it hasn’t been an easy week fir him, hopefully she takes responsibility for the times she’s made it worse.
1 – glad you agree with Sara. Its so rare it happens. lol
2 – This is a private school for people who have money. Sara’s family is considered on the poorer side at this school but are still well off in comparison to the median. So its not out of question to have seasonal uniforms based on the season.
3 – Well because she has adhd it could also be why shes getting annoyed because shes having to wait “forever”.
4 – I think she considers him lucky because while she isn’t a perfect guardian she is more skilled then most of peers who are guardians.
5 – lol
1, I agree with why she’s doing it, not that she should. But yeah it is rare we agree at all.
2, even the private schools in the city near where I grew up only had 1 uniform year round.
2, b Also, the season changes on 20th September not at the start/end of the month/season?
3, well she could get herself ready while age waits, (plop him in his room so she doesn’t need to worry about him getting gobbled up)
4, skill isn’t everything, but I do understand why she’s sees it that way, she’s comparing his situation to how bad it could be, while I’m comparing it to how good it should be, and Jordan’s comparing it to how good he had it pre-smallara.
5, yeah, I wasn’t hopeful.
1 – you and Sara agreeing are about as common as leap years.
2 – My setup for the school was that the seasonal uniforms are based on weather. The autumn/winter uniform is a bit warmer. The spring is more breathable and not quite as heavy.. The summer is pretty light and cool.
When i originally designed the uniforms ihad just one. But i have since gone through and made seasonal ones. Partly because its boring always using the same outfits. Its nice to spice things up a bit.
3 – she likes him being where she can see him. Maybe that changes after time. But being anytime he has been left to his own devices he has almost gotten killed. I understand her cautiousness.
4 – You summed it up perfectly.
1. Just under One in four? Or did you mean as common as leap days which are just under one in 1461? LOL.
2. Yeah, the uniforms I knew had an optional jacket, that was as close as they got to a “winter uniform”. Boring wardrobe is always a valid motive for creating new clothes.
3. Can she not see into the habitat? Also leaving him to his own devices has only gone wrong outside of the habitat, she was fine leaving him in there for 24hrs yesterday so it’s not like she’s uncomfortable with him being in there.
1- I was thinking as the days the days themselves
3 – she can see into the habitat but she normally puts on her make up in the bathroom. So she would have to lug his whole habitat to the bathroom to see him.
I mean he’s still adjusting to this life as well as the fact that his parents caught Smallara as well. So I can’t blame Jordan for being lost in thought here.
He definitely has things to think about. I wouldn’t blame him either for getting a bit lost in thought.
Imagine the Sara cleavage carry of whittle Jordy poo he be under real constant supervision then all safe and snug. She knows where he’ll be at all the time♥️♥️
Bravo! Bravo!! Bravo!!!👏 🙏🏻♥️this week has been amazing!!!absolutely 💯 right constant supervision over her whittle one there is no other way♥️ I agree with Sara here its taking way to long the best option would be to grab him and start changing him into his tiny outfits all the time is just way more efficient to do it. Mama knows best and how to dress him she had plenty of practice with her dolls growing up. She can’t wait that long she needs to get ready and that vanity table is calling Jordy’s name with the snap of the finger he’ll be hustling for those beauty products. Maybe she can put her red lip 👄 stick on and give him a kiss 💋 so it covers his hole body as a little joke. His tiny collar just like his tiny doggie dish says Sara’s tiny prince
We all remember how poor baby was shaken to death by the spider until Sara saved her whittle one
Its astonishing that Sara cant seem to distinguish “how good Jordan has it now” to how good Jordan had it pre-smallara. Or even a more befitting Guardian for that matter. That’s what Sara is competing with here, but she seems pretty dismissive of Jordan’s plight. She’s asking too much too quick from him mentally IMO. Even though she admits she basically understands this.
As good as Sara is “treating” him it still feels fairly superficial on her part. Every time I feel like she’s maybe starting to have a bit more genuine empathy she reverts back to this “mission-driven” mentality which by itself, isn’t such a bad way to live your life, but to project her Guardian idealization onto Jordan just feels like an attempt at Stockholm syndrome.
It’s a fascinating situation because really, nothing for Jordan is “fair”, but this world has devalued these people to which their mere existence “monetized” is a subjective scenario, dictated entirely by a random “qualified” person, who can CHOOSE to be an angel or a devil. Plus that’s mostly just in the US. Its a nightmare anywhere else.
Every panel I’m constantly battling this reality and everything we’ve learned about it back and forth while trying to be rational about the the characters personalities and choices being made.
I know my replies are hit and miss these days, but I rarely miss a panel, and I usually read all the comments 100%. This has been a very busy year for me but I love diving into this story to escape sometimes. The visual aspect plus attention to detail and consistency are much appreciated.
Sara isn’t competing with that in her mind, she’s competing with the foreigners from Chloe’s travels, though next to them most abuse looks good.
Sara’s treatment does seem a bit superficial, it’s either the bare minimum or in exchange for something, she’s rarely kind for kindness sake.
It’s pretty fucked up, this story tends to be very realistic but the casual cruelty littles can face seems to be a bit worse than I think it would be in real life, (at least in first world countries)
I like your comments, you have a good insight on things (and I’m not just saying that cause we seem to have similar opinions 😉) I also read them as much as I can.
Yeah even the characters in the story were picking up on Sara making sure Jordan see’s how other littles are treated. Her view does seem skewed a bit to the extreme in regard to convincing Jordan otherwise.
I could write a chapter or two on how I feel about Sara’s personality, but I think we both pretty much have already and our opinions align pretty similarly.
The realism is probably the best part because I feel deep down we don’t want to believe this would be the possible outcome, but it very well could be.
Honestly a lot of times I don’t bother to comment are because (1) its close to midnight by the time I get around to checking in and I get carried away (2) Your comments already cover what I was gonna say/ask give or take a few things lol
typing this on my phone on break so excuse any errors
“Its astonishing that Sara cant seem to distinguish “how good Jordan has it now” to how good Jordan had it pre-smallara. Or even a more befitting Guardian for that matter”
Well one could argue that its not that she isn’t distinguishing but she could view the life she is providing him as better. As she is taking care of all his bills, she is 100% supporting him financially. She giving him what she could view as a better home. As she has provided Jordan with the tangible items he has asked for.
From her perspective the only thing that could be argued that she had denied him would be seeing her two teachers who he is friends with. However, they also didn’t endure themselves to Sara in a way that would make her want to open up to them. So from her perspective she could be worried about them taking Jordan away and she’s protected him as his guardian.
“It’s a fascinating situation because really, nothing for Jordan is “fair”, but this world has devalued these people to which their mere existence “monetized” is a subjective scenario, dictated entirely by a random “qualified” person, who can CHOOSE to be an angel or a devil.”
Part of what is interesting is the story changes in tone based on who you are putting yourself in the place of. As if you look at it from Sara’s point of view. In a country who has established views and values when it comes to Smallara Victims which eludes to them being less than and a product. Sara is helping someone who is less fortunate then her. She is taking on responsibility of providing them a better a life then say being sent off to a government facility to potentially die or some day be assigned to someone at random.
Its almost a selfless act if you view it solely from her perspective as she could do nothing. She could say that sucks your problem isn’t my problem. Drop him off at the hospital and go on with his life never to see or hear from again. Yet she chose to step up and give back. She’s going through the process outlined to her by the government while trying to help as much as she can this unfortunate victim.
Now if you put yourself in Jordan’s perspective you have a government who is taking your rights and now you are placed in the care of someone who you aren’t fully sure if they have best interests heart. While you ar still trying to wrap your head around things you are being given things to do and treated as something less then you feel you are.
So then Sara becomes antagonist as she is the vehicle that is carrying out the laws and adhering to the policies. She is the one who a reader could view as keeping him from a greener pasture even if it is unknown. As she is the touchstone the reader has to who and what is shackling him and taking away his freedoms. Which creates an animosity towards her. In a way that is not all that different then a police officer forced to carry out a law he doesn’t agree with. Since the officer is the one applying the law directly he is the one who receives the hate and pushback as they are the ones who as citizens we can interact with and show our displeasure toward more readily then a disembodied government or official.
Excellent points and you pretty much nailed exactly how I was feeling towards both Jordan and Sara independently. I keep defending one side, then the other. I see Sara as a gatekeeper, but I admit it even feels a bit irrational because “what” shes keeping him from is simply unknown and up to our own imagination.
Jordan is simply the victim and borderline prisoner, who does has it significantly better then others but in my opinion should be treated in a very different manner, but that of course goes for all littles in general, not just him. That of course is just not how this world works, as we’ve discussed many times before lol.
Thanks for the reply – I’m off to read 386 now
