“We are going to meet Maisy in the library to work on our project. It’s imperative you remember best behavior as we want to-” Sara got out before Jordan cut in.
“I know, I know. We want to impress the bratty princess of the school. As you want to get in good with her for whatever reason. Although it seems like Mallory doesn’t like her and your friends with Mallory, so it seems like a bad idea.” Jordan as he stretched out a bit on Sara’s shoulder.
“Well, that’s because Mal doesn’t like Maisy, and Maisy doesn’t like Mal.”
“So then, why do it? I mean, won’t you just piss off Mal?” Jordan asked.
“Well, that’s the thing about trying to kill yourself. You are left with a lot of time to think after it doesn’t work and a lot of time to reflect. It made me realize the only friends I have chosen in my life are Ellie, Chloe, Gavin, and Steph. Ellie’s my ride-or-die. If she calls at 4 am and says she’s in trouble and we need to rob a bank. I guess I’d be robbing a bank. But I want to be friends with Maisy for me. Just because she seems like a fun vibe. I like Mal, but I’m not going to not do something just because of her.” Sara said while pushing the door to the library open.
Sara scanned the school library and didn’t see Maisy or very many students for that matter. As it wasn’t that popular of a location to go to, especially before classes started. Sara walked into the library and sat down at one of the tables. As she set her bags down on the floor next to the table, she moved her hand near Jordan who clambered back onto her hand for the elevator trip down to the table.
Stepping down onto the table Jordan still found it jarring just how large Sara was. She wasn’t even that large in the scheme of things, but her slightest movement could push him over the edge of the table if she wanted. However, there wasn’t much that he could do at the moment other than wait. As the past week had taught him that littles like him wouldn’t get far in this world without a guardian.
“I’ve been wondering for a while. What was it like? When you first found out? You never talk about that?” Sara asked as the two sat quietly in the library.
“You mean about Smallara?” Jordan asked as Sara nodded. “I was on the tiled floor of my Kitchen. The last full-sized memory I had was making a sandwich. When I woke up, it was like waking up after a rager. You guys probably don’t call them that anymore, but like a party, and you drank way too much. My head was pounding like it was going to collapse on itself. My body was sweating profusely. I hadn’t even opened my eyes yet, and I remember distinctly just how heavy my body felt. I thought I had a heart attack or a stroke. You know, something like that. It felt taxing just to exist. But when my eyes opened, and I saw how distant everything was and how large everything looked…” Jordan said trailing off.
“You wanted your life to be over,” Sara said, finishing his thought for him as Jordan nodded. “I know that feeling well. It’s a loneliness you can’t escape no matter how far you go in any direction. The hardest part is trying to overcome the fact you don’t even want to try or fight.
“Exactly, the first few hours, I always heard how crucial they were. I was lucky I didn’t have any pets or anything. As after going through it, I understand how the number one cause of deaths to people who contract Smallara is their pets.
“When I found you. It seemed like you wanted to live and get changed back, though. What changed between when you woke up and when I found you? As I’m sure you could have found a pin or something and drove it through your chest if you just wanted to end it.” Sara asked.
“I didn’t have the courage, well, courage probably isn’t the right word for it, but I wanted to, but I couldn’t bring myself to just kill myself. Not by my own hand. So, I set out to try to get help, and as I went along, I kept thinking of reasons not to. So, by the time I found you, I was already resolved to get back to my life-” Jordan said before he was cut off.
“Sorry, I’m late. I was having one of those mornings where everything went wrong. I was going to message you but when I realized we never traded info.” Maisy said as she carried a large structure
“Oh yeah, good thinking,” Sara said as she reached for her bag and to get her phone out to trade info once Maisy sat down.
“This is my little sister. She goes to South Academy. We can just put it over here, for now, Abs. I know Dad is waiting. Sara and I can move it when we’re ready.”

That’s probably for the best, even if she didn’t mean it as a joke at his expense I and likely Jordan would have interpreted it as such. Plus he could have responded “how can you expect me to be the bigger person when you don’t accept that I’m a person in the first place?”
Wasn’t she expecting Maisy to be waiting for them? Maisy apologised for being late so it’s not unreasonable to think Sara did expect her sooner.

The marking of his stuff was made above him giving him no say in the matter, she didn’t ask if he wanted to keep anything specific for sentimental or other reasons and the one thing he told her he didn’t want to keep, for a valid reason, was the only thing we know for sure she’s still got, she even threw him in it during a tantrum.
The deadname part was out of line, it’s not her place to tell him when he moves forward and it was later used againt him when he made it his “only condition”, and the way she rushes him does often feel like she’s trying to separate him from his past like she has something against it.

I liked how Sarah wanted to get know Jordan better in this one. I wonder why she didn’t consider him a friend even though she said she loves him as her whittle man a lot in the story. Also I am wondering about her love for Jordan, much earlier she was shown to be a Lesbian, so I am wondering why she would tie herself to a male like Jordan.
Sara “didn’t want to be Jordan’s friend” because she was being pissy at the time at not getting what she wanted from him, she was also echoing a sentiment back to him that he’d given her.
The “love” she feels for him isn’t romantic, it’s a much more selfish and parasitic love, a bit like a child who’d claim to “love chocolate”. Though if you’d ask her, she’d say it’s similar to the love a dog owner would feel for a new puppy, or a parent to their child.
