Jordan powered on the iPad as it booted up it loaded into an account named Jordy Reeves. At some point Sara had snapped a photo of him sleeping as the profile picture was a headshot of him sleeping with his mouth wide open and a bit of drool coming out of the corner of his mouth. He didn’t recall when this would have been, but he was sleeping pretty hard in the photo. As he went to try to change the photo in the settings, he found that the entire settings area was administratively disabled.
“I should have known,” Jordan mumbled to himself. Swiping through iPad Jordan brought up the store and saw that Sara had deposited 25 dollars into his digital wallet.
“Your allowance,” Sara whispered softly before refocusing her attention on the lecture Ms. Brooks was giving. Every so often she would glance down at Jordan seeing that he was fully engrossed with the iPad. She smiled thinking how he wasn’t all that that different than the kids she babysat. If you need to keep them occupied or distracted just hand them an iPad.
Jordan was swiping through the app store trying to figure out what he wanted to do. He wished Sara had gotten him some ear buds or headphones. As he couldn’t do anything that needed sound. However, he didn’t want to seem ungrateful as he could have had nothing. But the more he thought about it there needed to be some kind of catch. Why would he just be given an iPad? It needed zero setup. He wondered if Sara was turning over a new leaf. He got the buggy last night and now an iPad.
“Okay class break up into groups of 4 and discuss today’s chapter in peer groups.” Ms. Brooks said as she walked about the room making sure everyone was getting into groups.
Kayla felt weird as normally she didn’t have a group. She just waited for everyone to pick groups and then whoever was short a person. she would just be a part of that group. So, it was strange to be immediately included in a group. Then on top of that she was being included in a group of some of the school’s most popular people.
“Remember I want to see good discussions. This is not social hour.” Ms. Brooks made sure to reiterate before stopping at Sara’s group.
“Jordan, are…”
“It’s Jordy, Ms. Brooks.” Sara said, turning towards her teacher.
“Yes, right. So, Jordy,” Emily corrected and started to say again before Sara interrupted her.
“We’re actually trying to work Ms. Brooks. It’s not social hour we were told.” Sara said before turning towards the group. “Jordan sit over here.” Sara directed. “I don’t like you near the edge of desks where you can be bumped off.” She clarified. “Is there anything I can help you with Ms. Brooks.”
“No, you all seem to have the gist of it. Carry on.” Ms. Brooks said before returning to walking about the classroom checking in on other groups.
Jordan couldn’t help but notice the spot Sara wanted him in was directly in front of her toward the middle end of the desk. She was positioning him facing the group and away from Emily. Kelli had broken the glass ceiling for him with her comment. The subtle power play dynamic between Emily and Sara was quite apparent now. Emily held more power in this situation than Sara. So, Sara was very much overly nice and precise in what she said and did. She was always kind and pleasant to Emily. However, she used the rules and directions to her advantage when possible.
“Jordan, I loaded the iPad with the book we’re reading. So, you can read along. We are only through the first act. So, it shouldn’t be too much for you to catch up on. You can just listen along today. Be sure to pay attention.
“Wait? I have to do your assignments? How is this different than what Dayton was asking me to do.” Jordan asked as Sara rolled her eyes a bit.
“I’m not asking you to do my assignments. You are expected to also do the assignments as well. I expect my little man to be properly educated. You said you went to public school before so this may be a little challenging for you.” Sara said
“I’m a college graduate how hard could high school English be?” Jordan said to himself before pulling up the book app on his iPad and seeing the book A doll’s house by Henrik Ibsen. “What grade are you?” Jordan asked, but his voice was drowned out by the girls starting their discussion, which was already going over Jordan’s head.
Damn you weren’t kidding about Emily trying to get near Jordan but Sara not letting her by using her own words.
25 dollars damn Jordan I feel for you there and why does Sara want Jordan to read the same book she is for class I mean how many times does Jordan need to say he a college graduate but oh well I guess. Overall good chapter
25 is a decent amount, considering he has no bills. It’s just for him to spend freely.
It’s discussed further in tomorrow’s episode she has a reason. But logically, in her eyes, if he is a college graduate, then the material shouldn’t be any problem for him. Yet she hasn’t seen him able to actually do the work she’s doing or demonstrate any level of mastery on the subjects. So the prior achievement is meaningless.
Well he just got thrown into the subject without any peroration but I guess I see Sara point of view but still that’s not fair to just put into the subject unprepared but I’ll let it play out
25 (im assuming a week) does seem alright, until you remember that Little products have inflated prices.
She hasn’t seen his mastery in anything, but its also never come up, it’s not like any of the skills you learn in school actually comes up in life outside of it.
1)a. “there had to be some sort if catch” Yeah, the good behaviour like she said, you also almost lost it when asking her to be more polite.
1)b. Though if you need a pattern, both gifts came after she needed to separate you from. Someone she exposed you to.
2) Sara correcting when people call him “Jotdan” is passing me off, especially when she called him Jordan in the next breath.
3) I thought the were reading “The Illiad”
4) so he gets an allowance on top of his points? Is there away for him to exchange points for allowance or vica versa?
5) Jordan being expected to participate is also kinda weird, dose this apply to all classes or just at Sara’s discretion?
1) I feel like he was already exposed to Emily being it’s his ex girlfriend and Sara didn’t know that prior to bringing him into class.
She does expect him to follow what she has outlined as proper behavior.
2) She only allows certain people to call him Jordan. Ms. Brooks aka Emily is definitely not on that list.
3)The illiad isn’t part of the small group discussion. They have different materials for that. As the students read it and discuss it in their groups. They will be assigned an Essay and a test on it.
The main class discussion is on the illiad which they are also reading.
4) She does give him allowance tied to a jordy apple pay account. So he can shop anywhere that accepts apple pay. He cannot buy points. If he wants something that is attainable through points. He has to earn the points.
5) well he was required to participate in her other classes as well. It’s just her science class was just lecture last time. But he did have his own stuff to do in gym as well.
She expects him to be learning and participating in all the classes. It’s discussed further in tomorrow’s episode.
1) I meant she exposed him to and had to sephim from a bully, I’m referring to the Jeep following Dayton and the Ipad following Maisy, both people she’d let cause him trouble twice.
Pity she doesn’t do the same.
2) That’s so bullshit, normally it’d be “Jordan” by default and “Jordy” to close friends, she really is a control freak if she can’t even let him pick who calls him what.
3) oh, ok.. I remember thinking how damn cool it was that they git to study the Iliad, it’s a good story and much better than the crape I studied at their age.
5) has he? He was exercising in gym but no one was supervising or making sure he actually was doi g it, it just felt like he was being kept occupied while the class was going on. He has a desk in biology, but I can’t see how he’d be a student and the subject of an experiment simultaneously. He’s also already got a Highshool diploma and a college degree.
2) She views Jordy as his proper name though. She probably is a bit of a control freak.
3) Did you not study the Illiad and odyssey in school?
5) Well there was no other little students so there was only so much you can have one person to do by themselves. Plus she also didn’t know she was going to have a little student when she came to work that day.
Well he wouldn’t have had to be the subject. Maisy just had the idea so they went with it. Sara and Maisy originally had a different project they were going to do until she had the idea of using Jordan as part of the experiment. Otherwise, Jordan would have just been a regular project member. Now he’s both.
2) his one condition just got even smaller, Jordan really played himself.
3) No, I studied “Brave new world” “Boys of blood and bone” “Frankenstein” “Hovercar Racer” “Macbeth” and a few others in high school, had to read the Illiad and odyssey in my own time.
5) aren’t Mal and Gavin in that class? Danielle said there’d normally be another little there with him.
I see, that makes sense. I wonder if Jordan’s grades are his own or if his report card will be attached to hers like his medical records.
