Madison’s World Redux: Episode 29

Madison's World Redux Episode 29

Cindy grasped several large pieces of cereal and carried them over to the middle of the couch. Even in this tiny form she was having to pick up after Madison. Now with how things have fallen this could become a more permanent fixture in her life. As Cindy bent down and twisted her body, she could hear the bell ring and jingle incessantly on her collar. It wasn’t until Madison silenced the thunderous noise of the vacuum cleaner that she turned back towards Madison.

“Madison is this bell your father and I have on these collars necessary?” Cindy said as she spoke, she realized the collar was educating her on the proper volume that she needed to speak at to be heard by Madison and McKenzie. It was sickening to her that this infernal collar Madison attached to their neck the law or not was actually doing what it was supposed to be doing. She desperately wanted it to not be as effective as it was.

“Ugh, Mom, seriously? The bell isn’t just some random decoration. It’s there for a reason. You know, to let us know where you are. It’s like a signal or something. Imagine if McKenzie takes you out and leaves you somewhere, and I come back from school. How am I supposed to know where you are? That’s where the bell comes in. It’s like, ‘Hey, Mom’s nearby, watch out!’ It’s not just for me, it’s for anyone who might be around. So yeah, it serves a purpose, whether you realize it or not.”

“I- suppose that makes sense.” Cindy said she did not like it but understood the logic behind the decision.

“Mom, I’m just gonna say this once. I didn’t mean to come off so hard on you guys. I know I was a bit much. I’m sorry about that. It’s just… well, you’re littles now. I mean, you always were, right? We just didn’t realize it until now, I guess. And remember how you always told us that littles should wear collars, Mom? So, yeah, I got you and Dad ones, just like you taught us. But, I probably should’ve given you a heads up before I went ahead and did the whole collaring thing on you last night. So, I’m sorry or whatever.” Madison said with her eyes darting away.

“Madison, honey. When I said that I didn’t mean to us. This is different. You know we’re not really littles. This is just a misunderstanding.” Cindy said explaining to her daughter.

“Mom, seriously, it’s not a misunderstanding. You and Dad drilled it into my head countless times that it’s genetics, not personal. Littles are born the way they are, just like everyone else. Remember all those talks about how Littles support people’s needs and everything in nature has its place? You told me that. It’s like you always said, it’s not the cattle’s place to question why the farmer does what he does. So, yeah, it’s all just genetics, plain and simple.” Madison remarked, as she began detaching the hose from the vacuum cleaner, recanting her mother’s own words and analogies.

“Madison this is different though. We’re your parents. This is a mistake, if we had known we could have gotten medicine, or treatments secured ahead of time things would be different. We’re not actually littles sweetie. Thats where you’re misunderstanding.” Cindy said she was struggling to explain to her daughter, how what she was doing was wrong.

“Pfft, Mom, seriously? You’re gonna pull that card now? Well, maybe I should start quoting you more often then! ‘Full-sized littles are still littles, Madison.’ Yeah, I remember your words crystal clear. So don’t act like you never said it!” Madison snapped back, rolling her eyes in frustration.

Cindy cringed hearing her own words repeated back to her. She hadn’t realized how hateful the words sounded. Especially now that she was trapped as one herself. She was sure Jackie Sellers was having a good laugh about this. Cindy Wessen, a little herself. If word hadn’t gotten out yet it would soon.

“Madison, I may have, no I was a bit harsh and cold hearted in my thinking. This perspective change has made me realize I was wrong. You should use me as an example and learn from my mistakes.” Cindy added hoping her failings can be Madison’s gain.

“Don’t sweat it, Mom. I learned all about the place of littles in this world from you, remember? Oh, by the way, you missed some cereal over here.” Madison pointed it out but made no move to grab it herself. Seeing her mother’s lack of response, Madison snapped her fingers a few times, prompting her mother to reluctantly move towards the cereal with an angry expression.

“I know you’re still my parents, and I do love you. But let’s face it, it’s not exactly ideal that you and Dad are my littles now. However, we’ll figure it out together. Sure, there might be some rough patches as we find our groove and you get used to me being your little master. Just because I’m asking you to do things doesn’t mean I don’t love you.” Madison stated with a hint of arrogance, making her intentions clear.

“Little Master? Look honey, maybe we need to get McKenzie involved. Why don’t you get her from laundry room so we can talk about this.” Cindy said knowing McKenzie will get Madison to see reason. Madison has always looked up to her sister, idolizing her to some degree. She always had. Cindy learned early on that if she really wanted Madison to do something. She just needed to get McKenzie on board.

“Um, like, Mom, Kenz and I totally got this covered. No need to drag her unnecessarily into this. I mean, she’s like, swamped with laundry and all that adulting now. We’re good on our own.” Madison said before hearing McKenzie’s voice.

“What’s going on? I was just coming out here to check on you Mads. The little worker will be here before long.” McKenzie said coming up beside her sister.

“it’s no big deal. I was just filling mom in on our convo and, like, doing that apology thing you suggested. Maybe I got a bit carried away though, my bad.” Madison glanced over at her mother as she spoke.

“Madison, I love that you are coming to that realization. We’re still a family and can get through this. McKenzie, she’s talking about this little master thing, and I really just need you to set her straight dear. You know, tell her nothing has changed.” Cindy said with more confidence knowing McKenzie the daughter of reason was here now.

“Mom, please don’t worry. Madison and I have had several discussions about what happened yesterday, both over text and on the phone. She fully understands that her behavior towards you and dad was completely unacceptable. We’ve talked about how everyone deserves to be treated with decency and respect, regardless of their age. We both agree that there are appropriate ways to communicate with someone, and Madison is committed to improving in this regard.” McKenzie said firmly, as her younger sister Madison nodded along in agreement.

Madison said with a heavy sigh and eye roll “Ugh, for the last time, I said I’d do it! It’s not like it’s hard, or whatever. But seriously, with these new ‘rules,’ who even remembers what a real little is for anymore? Like, are we supposed to treat Mom and Dad like, normal servants or something? So lame. Mom would never do that to littles Kenz. She would flip if she wasn’t one now.” Madison said with a dramatic eye roll as she mutters under her breath “Even though, like, duh, that’s kinda the whole point of a little…”

“Mom, you have to admit you are being a little hypocritical since finding out you and dad are littles. Madison could and SHOULD be nicer and show more respect to you guys. As you are our parents, not just some rando littles from the store who got little trained and shoved onto a virtual shelf. But you’re the one who taught us about littles. You always said littles exist to serve people. You and dad are the littles of the house now. So, you can’t be getting upset when she asks you to do tasks that are meant for littles. She should be only asking you to do things that are fair to ask of you though. As this is what you taught us littles are for. I have been working with Madison on the differences between fair and equal. In fact Maddie, why don’t you share with mom what you learned?” McKenzie said in authoritative tone she wasn’t use to hearing from her when talking with her eldest daughter.

“Ugh, whatever. This is so dumb! Just because Mom got all butt-hurt. She’s being such a baby now. It’s not my fault she can’t handle things like a normal person.” Sighs loudly until McKenzie glares at her “Okay, fine, jeez, McKenzie. Chill! Look, treating everyone equally is, like, the basic stuff, right? You know, like treating someone who’s Asian the same as someone from the Middle East, or someone who’s white. But being fair is more than just treating everyone the same. It’s like, recognizing that we all have different stuff going on. Like, you might make me do all the dishes, while Mom and Dad just do one each. That’s not exactly equal, but it is fair because we all have different amounts of work we can do.”

“Madison, what I was trying to explain to you. I realize-” Cindy said

“Alright, that’s close enough for now,” McKenzie said, deciding to settle for the small victory, as Madison nodded proudly over her sister’s praise. “But Mom, Dad, you’re littles now, so…” Madison interjected, wanting to emphasize the point.

“McKenzie, no, Listen.” Cindy said up to her daughters.

“Yeah, Mom, I hear you.” McKenzie said slightly rolling her eyes. “It’s like you and dad were saying. We all need to come together to make this work. You guys are littles now so we’re figuring this out as we go. Right now, Madison is going to be your, and I hate this term.” McKenzie said give Madison a quick eyeroll “You need to think of something better Mads. Little Master. So, she will be handling your day-to-day care. Allowing me to be able to focus on figuring out bills and taxes and getting things like groceries bought. We’ll need meals and things. Y’know all the adulting stuff. As I have to run this house now.” McKenzie said with confidence as she looked down at her miniature mother. “Don’t worry though I will be available in the evenings where I can check in on you and dad, mom. If Madison is giving you guys any trouble you just come to me.” McKenzie explained to her tiny mother as Madison nodded along in agreement supporting her sister

“McKenzie you don’t understand.” Cindy said before being interrupted by McKenzie.

“Mom, listen,” McKenzie began, her voice firm but not harsh. “This whole thing? I’ve been seriously brainstorming it. Like, the entire flight here was dedicated to figuring out how to make this work. There’s gonna be some bumps, for sure. We’re all basically switching roles, right? It’ll take getting used to. You and Dad are kind of the VIP guests now, you know? Supportive, but letting us handle the day-to-day stuff. We just gotta give it a shot, and I know we’ll probably need to adjust as we go. But trust me, I’ve got a plan.”

“McKenzie, you are very bright and very responsible. We all know that, but you aren’t ready to run a household. There’s so much that goes into it. What are you going to do for money? Your father and I can’t work are jobs as littles.”

“I thought you were with Madison at GeneriBank mom? Since the whole debacle of not informing, you and dad of your vulnerable status. They were willing to make a deal. Maddie got them to pay for the house and cars, and then I got them to pay us a stipend of your salaries. Plus, I already work part time and I’m sure I could get Mads a job on the weekends at the convenience store too. We should get enough money coming in to pay bills and maintain our current lifestyle. I know you and dad will have to get used to be our dependents now. But, you really don’t need to worry. We’ll figure this out. We can try to get you little jobs. But those are normally internal little hires. Once Madison and I graduate we would have an easier time getting you hired on at the places we work for in a little based role or as our assistants.” McKenzie said having learned about the little workforce in school. So, she knew unaffiliated external hiring of littles was rare due to risks and logistics.

“Wow, that’s actually a great idea. I’d love to hire mom as my assistant at some office job. A tiny computer and headset she could screen my calls. I bet if we got her a computer, I could figure out a way for her to do that now. Like if you call my cell, it forwards to mom to answer and then she can either take a message or pass it along to me.” Madison remarked, nodding in agreement.

“Mads, you are not turning our parents into some kind of answering service for yourself. Most businesses that have little roles would put them in a call center or something like that. They wouldn’t be your subordinates.” McKenzie said sighing at her sister’s stupidity.

“Thats less fun. It sounds like a little daycare situation. I just drop them off and mom and dad trudge to over to the little call center section and I would go to my assigned area.” Madison said with a bit of a pout.

“That’s what I’ve been trying to get through to you, goofball.” McKenzie said to Madison before turning her attention back to her mother. Mom, I did the math. We only need 30,000 dollars a year for all our other bills and expenses. Plus, we’re the beneficiaries of yours and dad’s retirement funds. Just Mom’s 401k alone could cover the 30k we need each year for 16 years. And even with rising costs, we’re good for at least 12 years. And that’s not even factoring in Dad’s retirement funds. There may be some penalties for using it though. However, thanks to the mix-up, Generitech is covering the house and property tax. We have that stipend coming as well. I’ve got this under control, Mom.” McKenzie assured her mother confidently.

“McKenzie, just listen.” Cindy said.

“Mom, I’m listening, and I’m actively figuring things out. You’ve gotta trust me on this. I get it, you’re used to being involved in everything, but that’s gotta change now. I’ve already started working with our little worker on the process of getting emancipated and becoming Madison’s legal guardian. I’m sixteen, so it shouldn’t be too complicated. I can handle this because you raised me to be capable, independent, and strong. But you’ve gotta actually believe in me as much as you say you do,” McKenzie asserted, looking down at her mother with determination.

“Mckenzie honey. This is definitely an idea, but we need to see what all of our options are. Why is this the first I’m hearing about any of this? Where is all this discussion happening” Cindy said as Madison pulled out her phone and dangled it above her mother to answer her question.

“Mom, this is the plan. I shouldn’t even be shocked that you don’t like it. You never seem to approve of anything that’s not your own idea. But you know what? Dad will probably think it’s brilliant,” McKenzie declared with frustration in her tone, before storming off and heading into the kitchen.

“McKenzie honey wait. I’m sorry. Lets..” Cindy said before letting her voice trail off as she could see that McKenzie was further than her voice could carry.

“Ugh, Mom, seriously, remember you’re, like, a little now. So, show McKenzie some respect, okay? She told you as a favor, not ’cause she had to. Just so we’re clear, if you’ve got any problems, talk to me first, and I’ll deal with McKenzie. And then I’ll bother you and Dad with whatever’s decided.” Madison said with a hint of attitude, her tone dripping with teenage sass.

“Madison please, take me to McKenzie. I need to set this straight. There is a misunderstanding here.” Cindy asked as she looked up at her younger daughter.

“I would just love to, Mom, but it looks like you still have Cheerios to pick up. I remember you saying, ‘Madison, I shouldn’t have to tell you twice,’ when you would voluntell me to do things around the house. And Mom, I’ve already told YOU once. When you finish with your chores, we can revisit this conversation,” Madison said, adding a hint of sass to her tone.

“This is unbelieveable.” Cindy said grumbling as she walked over to where Madison had pointed earlier and started fetching cheerio pieces out from between the cushions as her youngest daughter stood over her with a vacuum hose in hand.

“Mom, you taught me along with dad everything I know. You did the same for McKenzie. I can see you’re testing us. Even with Medicine and treatments a little is a little you would say. This is a shock to all of us. Who would have ever guessed that McKenzie and I were raised by littles.” Madison said as she moved the hose to vacuum over to the pile of cereal that Cindy had made on the sofa.

“You may want to take a few more steps back mom.” Madison said as she watched her mother move to another cushion of the sofa. As Madison turned the vacuum back on in a instant the pile of cereal she had worked to make vanished.

“Madison please. Why is it you take now to remember everything I have ever told you. Yet if I ask you to put away a plate you have no idea where they are kept.” Cindy said in frustration as Madison shrugged.

Harsh but at least they are finally discussing everything together. Also some interesting history being dropped. I wonder who is Jackie?

Truly I think the lack of social connection would drive me crazy. No internet, phone or computer? When they aren’t being humiliated, they are dying of boredom.

In such drastic emotionally life changing events a support group of friends and family are key in recovering. So giving the parents a line of communication like a phone would be so beneficial.

I wonder if Little Therapy is an option. Or Little programs to teach Littles to help adapt to their new lifestyle?

Jackie’s probably a suburban mom Cindy competes with through her kids lol I’d imaging she’s on the pta as like a vp or something and is gonna rub it in that Cindy is a little every chance she gets. Can’t wait for MacKenzie to knock her out in the story 😂

But I agree. Harsh chapter but at least they’re talking. I feel like this story, minus madison being involved, is kinda what sarah and her parents would be like if in a similar situation, where sarahs mom struggles to come to terms with not being the head of the household.

Therapy for Littles has the be a thing, right? I mean, if the chips can read wave functions and what not, it should be able to see when a little is depressed or something and have it lead to needing therapy or something. We haven’t seen anything stating that, mentally, Littles and normies are different in that respect. Only physical differences.

I hope Little Theapy is a thing. Both to ease the emotional and physical traumas. There is Guardian training so I hope there is a counterpart program for the Little.

I agree. It seems Jackie is another mom who sounds to be more progressive in Little Rights. If there is a silver lining it is that Cindy can no long push her old horrible Little views anymore.

If there’s training for Littles, Jordan would need it. Especially since he’s identified as an emotional support little. I’m actually wanting to see a chapter where sarah and him go to therapy, and her therapist kicks sarah out to discuss with jordan how he thinks she’s doing without being pressured to answer how sarah wants him to lol I think that’d probably give her anxiety.

But yeah, sad that madison and kenzies world views were dictated by their mom, but at least kenzie so far is smart and enough of a individual to question things her parents said. Pretty apparent that she sees Littles as more than pets but acknowledges that the dependancy on guardians is stopping them from being recognized as completely autonomous.

Brutal chapter but, I guess I this instance you reap what you sow. Cindy basically taught them to be racist towards Littles and it’s biting her in the ass. MacKenzie is being extremely fair and probably never agreed with her moms opinions completely, but madison was probably extremely impressionable and took the lessons to heart, so kenz is probably slowly unteaching her at this point.

Cindy and greg are lucky both their kids aren’t treating them like shit. At least kenz is trying to empathize with them, talk to them, and reassure them.

BTW, was thinking about this the other day, how do babies of Littles work in this world? Are they owned by generitech? If Greg and Cindy had one, would they considered siblings of MacKenzie and Madison? I wonder how they’d feel seeing their parents take care of a baby and seemingly love it more than them lol

Yeah, I wouldn’t expect anyone at this point in time to be a mother Teresa to a little outside of maybe Chloe, but even then I think it’d be more of a understanding how the relationship needs to be for both of them to thrive type of deal, but Mckenzie seems to be a bit closer in that direction than most.

Omg please for all that is good let this family get some counseling please because although they’re are talking it bring out more negative than positive emotions here like dear god there’s no sense of trust between anyone really and the parents basically telling their kids to be racist or sizeist or whatever the terms and it’s just the communication skills here are lacking like someone bring in a little therapist or counselor added with a normie to help them like please 🙏

Preach haha I think that should be standard issue for new guardian and little pairs for the first year, especially if the little wasn’t born into being a little

This makes me wonder how Dayton would treat mrs Harris if she got smallara. lol

1) Madison, you’re fourteen not four, you should be able to eat cereal without spilling it everywhere for fucks sake. Needing you Mummy yo clean up after you in this way is just a bad sign.

2) I’m liking McKenzie more and more, Though I certainly think she should be involving her parents in more if the day to day stuff.

3) really like that Cindy’s having it drilled into her, that she’s largely the reason her daughters are so fucking prejudice against littles.

4) it’s not the cows place to question the farmer… but cows don’t have nearly the brainpower to question farmers, unlike littles, the difference is incalculable

5) Equal vs Fair is one of the more interesting themes in this series, cause Fairness as a concept is largely subjective, in this world humans have declared themselves the arbiters of what does and doesn’t constitute fair treatment,am allowing littles almost no voice in the discussion, which to them seems right, as they’re supposedly the ones who are responsible for keeping things fair, but no little we’ve seen yet has actually received treatment they agree is fair, even though every guardian thinks they do.

Dayton as horrid as her beliefs are, believes they are fair, just like Sara, Mia, Chloe, Maisy, Kayla, Mal, Steph, McKenzie and Madison all see their own views as the correct fair one and I only think one of them would give actual credence to a littles input on the matter.

6) if only this universe had a better term for a guardian than “little Master”. Lol

7) I like that McKenzie is the first guardian we’ve seen yet to pull up another guardian for mistreatment of their littles, Granted she wouldn’t have said anything if the guardian wasn’t her sister, and the littles weren’t her parents, like she actually said, “you are our parents, not just some rando littles from the store who got little trained and shoved onto a virtual shelf” indicating she’d have no issue with stranger littles being in this situation (but then again niether would a full sized Greg or Cindy). It’s still god that she’s made herself available if her parents need to talk to her about Madison, though I’m not sure how she’d handle that situation in the long run.

8) excluding littles from conversion, and keeping information from the has git to be one of the most frustrating parts of the littles day to day lives in this universe.

9) McKenzie’s got a good plan on how to move forward given their new status in life, she’s certainly doing better than most kids her age would be.

1) well that’s disappointing, but I don’t know why I expected better from humanity.

2) I understand that, but learning from someone more experienced would have been the better first move in my opinion, maybe start doing it by herself in a month or two.

3) Cindy definitely brought this on herself. I’m not excusing Greg, he just wasn’t in this episode so I didn’t mention him, but I hope he gets his soon enough. Presumably some libe like “if you didn’t want us learning this you should have spoken up before you got infected”

4) to me it makes all the difference, cows were specifically bred for their purpose, where as littles just showed up one day and humanity was like “well, looks like it’s time to bring slavery back into the mainstream”.

5) I understand your metaphor, but at the same time, predators need prey to survive, so the hunting is mandatory for them. Humans don’t have to enslave littles, most humans in this world like good lives with no enslaved littles, it’s a choice people are making.

6) Damn it Maddison.

7) I actually meant it the other way. She’s actually being MORE critical of Madison because of their familial bond.

But I do agree and understand what you ment, no way McKenzie woukd entertain the Cindy’s whining, or stick up for her, if Cindy wasn’t her mother.

9) yep, though I also get Cindy’s point, it’s scary when your kids have to be independent for the first time, plus there’s an element of “she shouldn’t need to” in there as well.

4&5) Yeah, I just don’t get the point of having a little do “anything” with any sort of expectation of a gratifying quality in the results.

I understand it’s good to keep them busy at first to get their minds off their dismay but in the long run it’s pointless and otherwise serve’s as some weird novelty for the guardian.

It’s odd to me that people even in this world see little’s as literal “servants”… That’s not a healthy assertion at all and yes, I agree, that mentality is slavery.100%

They don’t need littles to assemble rolex watches. This world already manufactures smartphones and even more technologically advanced collars, likely with robotics, not littles. I see the benefit of having little’s in little related care taking and assistant services but that’s about it.

If we’re talking about appropriately sized “chores” there really isn’t “effectively” a damn thing IMO. Oh and who the hell wants another call center anyway.

My point wasn’t that littles shouldn’t be working to contribute, but they should have control and boundaries as to when and where they do so.

I definitely think that business would help to passify their issues, but there are other better ways of doing that. Novelty is definitely something that motivates guardians.

It’s slavery given a deceitful make over. The funny thing is, if the guardians we’ve seen were half as good as they think they were their littles would want to do things for them and help out, people don’t want to burden others, if someone’s taking good care of another person, that person will, usually, seek out things to do that would help their carer. It’s actual earned gratitude.

There’s no need for littles to do work like that. But littles are just as mentally capable as humans so non physical occupations (such as teaching like Bryce) could be done by littles no worse than by humans.

Size appropriate tasks are a joke. If a regular sized person can do the same job in a tiny fraction of the time/effort and achieve a much higher quality of the job than I have to assume the only reason the task was set was the guardian being a cunt to their little.

So very true. Putting a Little in any job that requires anything physical seems highly inefficient. A Little is most efficient with mental tasks or tasks they can do just as well as immune people.

Or the rare job that a Little can be more effective. Like an “Seeing Eye Little”. The blind person would treat their Little well as I can see them being the most empathic to the Littles handicap.

If littles didn’t have reduced vision a seeing eye little would be a great idea. Personally I think that sign language interpreting littles would be a great task for them two.

Do they have reduced vision? Get them some binoculars and place them on a blind person shoulder for easy communication.

Sign Language interpretation is not bad but more difficult. A deaf person would need to be even more careful where the Little is. Luckily they are chipped and their exact location is always known. A Little doing sign Language to a normal person would also be difficult to see but not impossible.

Objectively most of this new information is good news. Sadly the way it is being delivered is always tainted by Madison’s personality.

Ideas like the Littles working in a call center or being assistants to their Guardian and getting paid are positive things. But as stated Madison has a way undermining even the most positive news.

I want to see a normal teacher have a Little assistant or rather be the Teacher Pet. LOL. The students would hate the Little but would br powerless against him/he or inclur the teachers wrath.

On the topic of Little getting jobs. I always wondered what sort of jobs a tiny person could do. I embrassingly never imagined a “seeing eye tiny” as an occupation.

Such a perfect role. A true symbiotic relationship. Both placing their trust into each other to navigate the world. Forming a deep bond.

The only issue is the Blind person getting guardian training but I believe they could still get certified. May even get a discount or be covered by their health plan.
