“I’m not trying to defend the decisions Emily or Ms. Brooks as she would be to you two. I’m not even saying i agree with her choices. However, I’m just trying to see my best friend. I hope you girls can understand that.” Daniela said, hoping to reason with them.
“Well, I’m not trying to take all of Jordan’s friends away or anything. So, as long as you agree to keep him away from Ms. Brooks and keep anything said between us. I don’t see why her being a bitch needs to affect anything.” Sara said, trying her best to keep to her goal of letting bygones be bygones. However, the line had to be drawn somewhere and Ms. Brooks in the line.
“That is reasonable. Thank you, Sara. I appreciate your candor and willingness to allow me to still be a part of his life.” Emily said.
“I feel bad, and I’m sorry, Jordy, for how things have to be, but Ms. Brooks is a no-go for me. I haven’t stopped you from talking with your family, I even opened up your email where you can talk to your friends that way if you like, including Ms Brooks.” Sara said firmly as she looked at Jordan still in Daniela’s hand.
“Maybe we should change the topic to something brighter. How have you been adjusting to all this, Jordy?” Daniela asked.
“Oh, it’s been okay. Sara’s done a lot to make things easier for me. I even have my own little sink in the bathroom. I have my own room. Being a room inside her room is a bit to get used to but I get it.” Jordan said.
“That sounds good. What’s a room inside her room, though?” Daniela questioned
“Well, it’s a small habitat that sits on top of her nightstand—like a terrarium, I guess. If I were comparing it to something,” Jordan answered, trying to explain it.
“You live in a cage?” Daniela said, slightly horrified.
“Jordy is very vulnerable to bugs and insects. He is also more vulnerable to temperature. It’s really the best thing you can do if you love your little man.” Sara said, “It would be irresponsible to do anything else.”
“I’m really only inside the habitat at night to sleep. I’m mostly outside of the habitat, and it probably sounds worse than it really is. I am a bit vulnerable. It was difficult to accept, but after almost being killed by a spider and then again by a mosquito, mostly because of my own pride. It’s been something I’ve needed to accept even if I don’t like it.” Jordan said with some humility. He knew there were other factors in each situation, but it was ultimately hiding those factors that put him in harm’s way. He chose to run from Dayton. He chose not to speak up when he was in trouble. Ultimately, Jordan knew, even in this diminished state, that he was responsible for his own choices. Any doubt he had about how it would have gone down between Dayton and Sara was removed because he didn’t give her a chance to succeed, fail, or do the right thing by telling her what was going on. He took the opportunity to help him away from her and made a decision on his own.
Jordan was relieved that it all ultimately worked out and he could chalk it up to a learning lesson. He felt like Sara had learned from it as well, but he was more concerned about his own growth. As that’s what he could control.
“I guess I never thought how insects and bugs would pose a risk to him or any Little, I guess, for that matter,” Daniela said she continued to look down at Jordan before moving the finger in her free hand close to Jordan. Daniela’s finger wavered just millimeters from his body before she began to finally retract her finger.
“You can touch me. I’m not made of glass,” Jordan said to Daniela, who moved her finger close to Jordan before pressing her finger ever so slightly against his chest. She could so easily flip him over or hold him down. It was surreal that a person who had always been so much stronger and bigger than her could now be dwarfed by a couple of her fingers, who could be held down by a mere single digit of her hand.
“It’s just hard to believe you are really in there, you know. I keep thinking you’re going to walk through that door, wrap those strong, powerful arms around me, and lift me up like you normally do. It’s difficult to believe those days are over.
Not as dramatic as I expected but like I though, Daniella is doing what it takes to be in Jordan’s life. I’m genuinely shocked that Sara’s gonna let him email Emily though. That almost seems like a loyalty test
She said she would after english classs when they were talking about his tablet. So she is really just upholding what she already said to him.
However, i can hear lethal saying “that would be a first,”
I think its more Sara is done with emily as the two don’t get along and won’t ever find common ground. However if jordan wants to trade emails she’s not going to care. As once she is done with her classes she intends to never see Emily Brooks again.
I forgot she gave him access to everyone, but I figured she would stop him from talking to Emily outright, or see if he’s actually doing so and read the emails.
So on that note though, who does Jordan go to for help on his assignments? I’m not even too certain how his redoing education works, like if he has his own curriculum to os or if hybrid Littles just follow whatever their guardians do. Not sure if I have in depth notes on it or not either lol
He would go to Sara or he could do research on the little net now that he has a tablet. Anything he would be tested on would be on the little net
1) I’m glad Jordan’s finally a prominent part in this conversation.
2) “Sara’s done a lot to make things easier for me” she’s also done plenty to make it harder.
3) “it was ultimately hiding those factors” it’s a pity he has no one he can talk to about that who won’t immediately side with Sara.
4) “he didn’t give her a chance to succeed, fail, or do the right thing” perhaps, but it’s not like that decision wasn’t made based on her blowing previous chances to do the right thing.
5) I love how Dani actually respects his consent and autonomy.
1) They haven’t been there all that long yet. It’s only been a few minutes. But it’s understandable as the passage of time is hard to convey.
2) I knew that was coming. As when I was writing this part I was thinking Lethal will be thinking the opposite.
3) Thats true of most littles though. Most littles in the wild aren’t around other littles or if they are together they are grouped together where they would have same experience. So it woudln’t be an outside independent party.
4) You also leave no room for failure with that line of thinking. No one can ever be wrong or grow, or change because as soon as a mistake is made they would be cut off because “below previous chances to do the right thing” which in and of itself is ambiguous as the right thing changes with perspective. its not a universal truth in most cases.
5)Well she is his friend and they are of similar age. So it makes sense she would think that way.
1) I know it’s only just started, but it’s still odd to me.
2) I’m not saying he’s lying, I’m just saying there’s more to the truth.
3) I know, just because it’d be typical doesn’t make it ok. If he doesn’t find a way to vent or talk it out with someone who isn’t just going to try and invalidate him and defend her, he’s just gonna grow resentful until he explodes at her over nothing and consequences follow.
4) I’m not saying he couldn’t’ve or even shouldn’t’ve given her another chance, in just saying it’s understandable why he didn’t wanna risk it. I believe in redemption, but forgiveness is a privilege not a right.
5) It’s a nice change of pace.
1) They had to get through tape plus at the end of the day its probably a little awkward as Ellie and sara are just right there. It’s not like they are hanging out watching some kind of sporting event.
2) It is very much subject to ones beliefs and interpretation of his journey.
3) I’m of two minds on it. I can see what your saying happening. I could also see him eventually believing what people are saying and thinking he is wrong. As if everyone is saying you are wrong. Its only natural you would start to doubt yourself eventually.
4) I generally agree with you. The only point of contention would be I don’t think Sara did enough for him not to go to her or bring his concerns. I think if she hadn’t helped him here after him bringing up his concerns that could have been a straw that broke the camels back or started him down a path of not trusting. But in reality nothing that couldn’t be brushed over as just her age vs his age had occurred at that point.
1) oh it’d be awkward, I reckon all his time spent with loved ones will be awkward for him and Sara would like that way.
2) I agree, I’m certainly more annoyed than others are by these things.
3) That’s definitely another possibility I hadn’t considered, and its worse in my opinion, but also seems more likely with Jordan’s personality.
4) I figured that’d be where the disagreement would lie. I agree that her age would factor into her making poorer decision, that ultimately comes back to my belief that 12 is too young to become a guardian, and if 12 us old enough than it’s old enough for her to be held accountable.
But even with her being young I still think “three strikes and she’s out” is fair (Dayton on Sunday, Maisy on Monday and Tamara on Monday along with other smaller issues. But I can see that’s where we differ.
How is Tamara strike? I can understand Maisy even though Sara did specifically tell him not to embarass her. Dayton is fair although I don’t personally think Dayton did anything all that extreme. As I could see someone thinking they will work it out but I will keep an eye on things.
Tamara’s the strike that hurts the most, because initially Sara defended him well. She even decided to punch Tamara afterwards in an act of revenge. However the moment her decision to punch Tamara had consequences for her she immediately turned on him, victim blaming, claiming he was “starting fights” and “acting like an animal” giving him a severe punishment. It actually became a strike retroactively.
I’d like to point out that all Jordan did in regards to Maisy was stand up to her, the sane thing that Sara earned Maisy’s respect with. (Though in seriousness if she didn’t want to be embarrassed she shouldn’t have ler him get bullied)
I’m not actually judging Dayton, Maisy or Tamara’s actions, only Sara’s in reaction to them. Dayton’s actions weren’t too bad the first time, but with Sara choosing to ignore Jordan and pretending to believe Dayton it’s likely what empowered her to escalate the next time she saw Jordan.
