Daniela stared at her steering wheel for several moments after Sara shut the car door and walked away. A wave of relief hit her as tears formed in her eyes. She couldn’t believe how bad of a mistake she made. She almost ruined her life; she could have ruined Jordan’s life. While her intentions were good, she let her anger and frustration cloud her judgement.
She shoved a table into one of her students. She looked back at Sara briefly who was walking away from her car. She never would have expected to get a lifeline from Sara Reeves of all people. She was a good student and seemed like a nice enough person overall. But their differences in opinions were quite stark where they differed.
Most other people would have put her in jail. The laws protecting littles were quite severe. Taking a little, not registering a little, purposefully injuring a little, they are all quite frowned upon and can quite easily ruin a person’s life. Daniela knew the only thing she could do is make it up to Sara. As while she doesn’t like the fact Sara treats Jordan like a pet. She has also protected him, and given him a good home, she hasn’t as far as she knew tried to torture or injure him. She does seem to care for him in her own way and convey that to him. Jordan didn’t seem as upset with the situation as she was. It made her remember something her mother had told her long ago. No one can make you upset without your consent. She also often told her you don’t have a right to be upset on another partys behalf. She struggled with what latter one meant for much of her life before understanding that if the people directly affected aren’t upset or feel invalidated. As a third party it’s not your right to be upset for them.
She hated that her mother was right. Even to this day. If Jordan asks her for help she needs to be and will be there to step in and help. But if he doesn’t ask, she needs to accept his decision even if it’s not what she wants or would choose. As afterall he belongs to Sara now. That’s how all this works. The littles aren’t capable of surviving on their own. She understands that. She’s seen the videos of littles in the world being eaten by wild animals like birds, cats, bugs, etc. The full gamut they are susceptible too.
Danela started her car and drove away from the coffee shop. She wanted today to be over. She was going to have to apologize to Sara as her actions were unacceptable regardless of what she thought of her methods. She just wanted to be in Jordan’s life and she nealy messed that up. Now, if Sara did agree to let her meet him again outside of school she would be under a microscope. She knew understandably it would be some time before Sara agreed to let her see him again. Any chance of her seeing Jordan alone was probably ruined.

I hate complicated stuff and drama uhhhhhh but it’s so good and interesting too fuck but to be fair Sara better keep her word about not seeing Dayton with Jordan because I’m sorry some of what happened there was not his fault after rereading that stuff I still struggle how him running away from a girl who was not trained or mature enough to have around was his fault which I’m glad she admitted to being in the wrong in that situation but still if Daniela is getting the distance treatment so does Dayton at least in most situations!!!
Overall great insight into both parties and how they are progressing and understanding the reality of the situation and world around them
I agree that with Dayton incident not all of it was his fault. However I also think people need to be careful with what they hope for.
As while Dayton is untrained so is Ms. Sanchez and Ms. Brooks. They are legally speaking equal to Dayton. They are untrained and unable to care for a little as they have yet to be licensed. Similar to how you need a license for child care.
So it’s easy to say Sara was wrong because Dayton isn’t mature, licensed, etc. however while Jordan’s friend may be more mature they are still unlicensed and legally the law would group dayton Ms. Brooks and Sanchez all into the same pot. As it’s black and white to them.
So while I myself as a reader agree with you. From a laws of this world standpoint understand it’s not as black and white.
We do see in the Dayton side story that Sara has kept Jordan away from her. That may be harder if she is fully trained.

Also poor Jordan can’t have one day without dealing with someone he doesn’t like or gets into a situation where he is automatically at fault or danger while dealing with a world that is trying to make a profit off him and his kind hopefully it gets better
Based on what I’ve read in her side story, I think Dayton needs to not only fail but have her behavior and ethics sited for it. She could still turn over a new leave and develop some real empathy for smallborns and smallara victims, but I don’t see that happening. I really want her call to Chloe and her speaking into the collar in the 2nd chapter to bite her in the ass lol it’d be so wild if Sara showed up because of the phone call and called her out on trying to trick the staff and explained to whomever that she isn’t that close with Chloe
All that being said, the crappy thing is that madison passed her classes, but idk what she was like in those courses or if kenzie kept her in line, but that does hint that ethics might not be too big of a deal in these, which is upsetting to me since I’m more pro-generitech than others are lol
Part of it is ethics only mean so much. They are asking you ethics questions but they can’t make you be ethical.
It’s kind of like gun ownership in America. You don’t have to be a good or upstanding person to own a gun. You just have to be able to pass a background check. It doesn’t matter if you think or don’t think the person should own a gun. Thats not really question. It’s is there any legal reason they shouldn’t or can’t.
Thats kind of the same with Smallara licensing. Because its America people have the right to own a little as long as they go through the hoops and pass the required licensing.
But the licensing like gun ownership isn’t looking at if you are a good person. Its looking at specific parameters that could be upheld in court. Where morals and ethics only go so far.
You can ask a person morally and ethically just questions and as long as they respond correctly what else can you really do if they pass your tests on merit and answer accordingly?
So from a legal standpoint you’d have to look it as what would be the legal reason the u.s. government would have to stop Dayton Harris from being a guardian that would stand up in court an not violate the constitution or her personal rights.
I agree with you Dayton is not a great person ethically or morally when it comes to littles. But, that’s also not a illegal. Just like you can not have good ethics or morals towards people who are disabled. Thats not illegal. They couldn’t stop you from working with disabled people as long as you passed the tests, and followed the rules form a legal standpoint. What else could they do?
I suppose that’s all true In general sense, but isn’t it a law that Littles have a right to respect and to feel safe and secure? Is living with a guardian with poor morals and ethics would out them in danger, though I guess that’s where the testifying against your gaurdian part comes in….
I think Daytons an exception to the rule in this case though. The laws governing Littles and the rules on being a guardian seem way more stringent than the average pet are. Since Daytons seemingly disrespectful to Littles, has had moments of being overly physical with Jordan (not gonna count it for guardian training but adding as an example) and probably more so will be with Thomas, and is trying to use false influence to make it seem like she’s of higher status, I’d see her as a threat to the Littles safety. Maybe I’m mixing up ethics with something else, but those wouldn’t be the traits a guardian should have. Though I guess ultimately generitech sets the bare minimum. I personally would have her closer towards failing based on her attitude towards Littles.
I agree with you in terms of attitudes and morals and ethics. She wouldn’t be someone i’d want to be my guardian. I could probably live with Sara as my guardian but she wouldnt be my choice if i was choosing people.

Litltes do have rights to feel safe and secure but if you look at Dayton’s treatment with Thomas she hasn’t done anything to really make him feel not safe and secure. She puts pillows down when training, she let him sleep in when she at home with him, she cleaned him, etc. She didn’t do anything abusive or physically harm him.
Towards thomas he coudl say shes been controlling and a bit of a dictator but I dont think that would be illegal or something they could fail her for.
She does know chloe and while it could be argued becuase it was done to illustrate to Thomas she knew influential people and he needed to listen to her. She could argue she was just trying to do something nice for him becuase she does know Chloe and knew how Thomas has a degree of reverence towards her.
It would be hard to legally say Dayton did anything wrong form a court of law standpoint or from a course standpoint.
I do agree that laws for littles are more strict then pet laws but I think that goes to something Sara talks about where Littles are something inbetween a pet and a person. As they have less rights then a person more rights then a pet.
The hard part which is true in this world and in any kind of custody case it is on upto the person accusing to prove that the person is being abusive or doing something that would be viewed as illegal.
It’s not upto Dayton to prove that she is a good person or guardian or junior guardian its upto the person accusing to show that beyond a resonable doubt that she isn’t and this is the factual proof why.
Its easy to know someone’s not a good person. Its harder to prove in a court of law they aren’t a good person. Which is where I think Dayton falls into. You aren’t wrong and I do agree with you in regards to dayton and her treatment of littles .
She has been in my opinion better with Thomas then she was with Jordan. But not anywhere nearwhere I would trust her for my care.
BUt one of the themes of teh story I always had when creating it as the idea that you can’t always pick who your guardian is.
That’s all true. I guess it’s the court of law part that I’m getting tripped up on as I would think generitech has additional policies and protections for their littles once they are under the care of a guardian, but I guess they wouldn’t really police that, but idk where one entitys jurisdiction ends and the other begins. That being said I would think they would want to have a strong vetting process to protect their investments since spending time housing and training a smallborn is probably costly and giving one to a guardian that didn’t go through proper scrutiny would look worse on them than on the government, but I guess that goes back the gun control comparison a bit.
Personally I still don’t think daytons beyond redemption or growth. I just don’t know if she’ll really be introspective or anything like that if she doesn’t get chewed out more or just flat out fail, though from a reader perspective I guess that’d too obvious of a thing to happen, and you as a writer tend to have less obvious plot lines, which I like lol
FanFic – Unexpected Hero – set 6 weeks later
It was Friday morning Sara, Jordan, Chloe, Kayla, Ellie, and Kelli just got some coffee from the coffee shop getting ready for school and another long day of classes. “Not a coffee person huh?” Kelli asked from Kayla’s hand to Jordan who unlike the girls didn’t like coffee the taste was always the major con for him. “Nah it’s either soda or water for me honestly I might drink here and there but I don’t see the appeal,” Jordan said “You don’t like sushi and now it’s Coffee Jordy at least it’s a short list,” Sara said with a chuckle “I could add other things if you want an more in-depth answer Sara” Looking at her with a smile of his own “ah so the student thinks he can be the master of teasing huh?…. Oh, Jordy you far from that level of mastery” Sara said in a cartoon sensei voice that you hear from a stereotypical Asian master which made Jordan and the other laugh.
It was all laugh until a tall big man with a black coat walked in front of them almost bumping into them he looked both intimidating and scary. “Uh sorry sir you’re kinda in the way,” Chloe said wanting to get the group away from the man who had a bad vibe and aura. “Walk into that alleyway now,” he said without a stutter confirming Chloe’s suspicions about him being dangerous “Sir please don’t..” Chloe was about to say until the man pulled out the gun in his pocket, “I said move now !” Jordan was scared not for himself but for Sara and the girls “Fuck !! if only wasn’t small I would knock this bastard out” he thought but all he could do was watch and hope someone would save them. Kayla held Kelli close both scared for her safety and scared of the situation they were in she heard about the stories of being robbed but never thought she would be a victim hopefully one that lives to tell the tale.
The girls move into the alley as the man points the gun at them this is a new feeling for the girls not being bullied by words, or fighting another girl but being threatened by a man with a weapon that could easily take their lives. “Give me your money now!” the man said making Kelli and Jordan cover their ears from the command they hated this they were the oldest but were the weakest and unable to help the girls the sense of helpness was soul-crushing. But Jordan couldn’t let it stand not this time “Leave them alone Asshole” Jordan yelled Shocking the man who wonder where that came from but saw Jordan and laugh “Yeah or what bug the fact that people want to keep things like you is almost laughable” the man laugh until he felt a tap on the shoulder before turning around fully he was puch both in the nose, throat, and balls in quick unison felling the pain instantly. Then the hand holding the gun was grad so tight he dropped it and the voice of the newcomer was heard “Ellie move the gun away now !” it was Danielle.
The P.E. teacher had the face of an angry mama bear and was ready to tear the man apart limb by limb “Men like you are a disgrace to the human race !” She was so mad it was scaring even the girls she was saving they had never seen her this mad before except Jordan who as seen this side of Dani he called it her “Berserker Mode” When a group of bullies messed with him she knocked them all out without even breaking a sweat it was liking seeing a raging Viking. She then grabbed the man’s balls and squished so tight he squealed like a girl “OH boy the ball crusher” Jordan said calmly while Sara looked at him in shock. “Let go of me you bitch…ahh!” the man said but his hand and balls were squished even harder by Dani who was even angrier than the man in pain “LISTEN HERE YOU PIECE OF FILTH !!” she said, “I dealt with a bastard like you and they all make me sick threatening little girls with guns crossed so many lines I should rip your balls off!!….so here what’s going to happen you going to apologize to those girls NOW or so help me I’ll break you to arm and ballsack !!” She said with a fury that was both heard and felt by everyone there. The man gave in wanting the pain to be over “OKAY..OKAY…umm I’m so sorry girls for bothering you and threatening to harm you with a gun …ahh happy!!…ahhh” the man said until Dani held the balls tighter “And The Littles you threaten to NOW!” she said “The who ?!! …” the man said “The littles JORDY and KELLI that are right there dumbass!! Now say sorry to them NOW!!” Dani said without pity or mercy for the man “I’m SO SO SORRY MR. JORDY AND MRS. KELLI sir and ma’am please forgive me” the man said with tears.
“UHH all is forgiven,” Kelli said both shocked to be talked to by someone bigger than her but for this scumbag it was well received “Yeah all is forgiven now, Danny Hakona his tatas for goodness sake,” Jordan said Dani nodded but pull the man to her face “NEVER COME NEAR THEM OR ME AGAIN,” she said with the man quickly nodding she let go and he ran holding his now crushed balls. A few seconds later the teacher went to the girls and Littles “OH MY GOD girls are you okay is anyone hurt?” the worried teacher asked checking for any injuries thankful that nothing worse happened. “ Ms. Sanchez…that was so badass holy crap you made that man drop to his knees like he was not ten times your size !!” Ellie said both impressed and thankful for her teachers added “Well it wasn’t anything special girls” Danielle said rubbing her neck “Wasen’t much really Dani you went “Super Besker Mode” It was beyond just cool and was amazing like you went John wick on that dirtbag” Jordan said “well self-defense class and being a black belt does help” Dani smiled “Thanks for saving us” The girls said “It no problem girls any teacher would do the same… now let’s get to the school and call the police before that husk of a man get far but after what I did I don’t it will be a problem” Dani said with a smile. Before they could leave Sara looked at Ms. Sanchez without moving.
It worried both the girls, Jordan and Ms. Sanchez “Is everything okay Sara are you hurt is something wrong..” Ms. Sanchez said before Sara hugged her with some tears in her eyes “Thank you for saving us, Ms. Sanchez…for saving them” she said with tears glad that everyone was okay thanks to Ms. Sanchez “You welcome Sara… now let’s get you girls to school and a safer place okay” she said while embracing the hug from her student. Jordan smiled Knowing it was rare to see Sara cry let alone in front of others but was happy she was safe thanks to his best friend’s fighting spirit and ball-crushing skills.
Man I could see Daniella kicking ass like that, but I feel like Chloe would have secret self defense training too lol

The fact that videos of the horrible stuff happening exists showcases just how bad being a little is and how indifferent the world is. This whole world comes off as dystopian and depressing with the bright and best aspects is less about finding happiness and more about preventing misery. It’s like schopenhauers pendulum is stopped swinging and is forever stuck between misery and satisfaction where external forces have the last say. Honestly openhighhats “on the shelf” comics seem to depict the same situation albeit from a more jovial light but just taking a look outside some days makes you realize a lot of stuff. Honestly, if it were to happen in our world I doubt it would be this severe but families would definitely want to stick together and help each other. Like an Emma’s house type deal. Maybe not as happy and On the shelf but not a dark as this. Smallaras world feels devoid of selflessness with only slight deviations present such as Crissy who seems to be pretty backwards compared to the rest of her society.
Yeah it fair to feel that way towards world honestly it more heartless than our world despite all the controversy, Wars and conflicts, political issues, and issues in society as a whole but damn at least there hope and more people that would help or support to help make bad situations better but I think this world will get better it will take time but I think it will get better just like Sara is growing as a character so is the world
I agree with you videos of horrible things happening existing does set a tone. However, I also saw on tiktok a video of a guy throwing a dog off a bridge into the water 40 feet below. So much of the same can be said of video’s in this world. Wherever you have people you are going to have videos and content of them doing things are morally and ethically disgusting. Things that most honest people wouldn’t agree with.
There are honest and good people in the world too. Look at Chrissy’s family, and in Birthday surprise we Londyn and her sister who is Mia’s roommate be much better people.
Even in Smallara Prime we see Ms. Sanchez, Ms. Brooks. Chloe, even Steph, etc. who are good people who treat littles well in the world.
Even kayla shows how goodness does exist in this world.
Smallara itself the mainline series is following Sara who is morally and ethically grey. some things she does is good some things she does is bad. While it does kind of balance out overall. It can leave you with a bad taste sometimes. Because that’s how life and the world are. So it can be a bit offputting to read a story like that.
As its easy to read a story where a character is just evil and mean. Is harming people of size, doing various acts that are disgusting and off putting because its so far from reality you can write it off as being not real. Which is where a lot of stories in the medium fall. However with this you have things that are cranked up and exaggerated bit but its founded and always tinged in a level of realism that makes it feel different because you could see it happening.
I liked openhighhats on the shelf and i do agree it is similar but more light hearted take. I really wanted to create something gritty and grounded in reality. That while not a reflection of this world could happen and much of what happens in this story could happen. Its not far fetched or out of the question.
America is the country that kept people in cages who crossed the border for months before sending them back home. When we did send them back home it wasn’t always as family units sometimes a child would be sent back before the parents.
This is the same America who is distressed with school shootings and put legislation into effect in some states that had teachers and staff carry guns to ward off shooters with automatic rifles.
This is the America in which a president incited a revolt that caused the capital hill to be stormed and this countries leaders to be forced into hiding.
So while I hope if something like this happened in real life this story woudln’t be a blueprint of what would happen.However, I do think its fair outlook as to what could happen.
I hope as you elude to things would turn out better for all those involved and people would prove themselves as being better. But Its also hard sometimes to imagine that when during our own real world pandemic we couldn’te ven get everyone to do something as simple as wear a mask.
While I see where your coming from I think that our differing experiences and general outlook cause us to see things from a different perspective. While I have been subject to unfair treatment myself over qualities outside my control I’ve noticed that most people usually let me be if I don’t give them a reason to start trouble. I can see where your coming from in the political meaning but usually those are just very vocal minorities who don’t represent the entirety of the nation. Kind of like in 2020 during the protests. I think media obscures our views of reality and distorts our prospectives so I don’t engage in it. I tend to be look around me and make judgements based on my experience and things that are objectively true. It’s hard to find good quality media.
But in terms of the good you show I believe it but I just think the bad is taken to an extreme. Immoral people do exist but they are far and few between and are (usually) shunned by society as a whole. There was a story not to long ago of teens who killed a swan and their eggs with one surviving swan. They mate for life and it died of a broken heart. Those teens were dragged through the mud and no longer live in my city. I don’t think the world is great but it can be much worse. Imagine if you’re loved one was effected by a smallara. Would you see them that differently. Seems like a psychopathic trait if you no longer see someone as human the moment they aren’t the same size. But then again I think it also has to do with power and control. There’s a video on YouTube about dishonored which discusses the morality of what will you do with power when nobody else can do anything against you.
I do agree with you. Some of the acts and laws are played up a bit to make things narratively interesting
As I’ve ran a fiction site that housed this kind of material for many years and still exists today even though i sold it which is cool. But, the point is I learned through statistics and analysis no one wants to read a story where everyone is happy and and good people exist with good things happening.
While that is what we strive for and there are people who will read that the majority don’t is probably a better way to put it. So while the story does have brightspots and good people. It also has a lot of adversity some of which can be overcome, some of it can’t.
I also think since we are following in Smallara prime a person who is more grey in morals and you are seeing them interacting with richer socially elite people who have similar values and viewpoints it can depict a picture that everyone is like when kind of like in our world people of a certain type generally stick together.
Like you see that in Chrissy where he is a good person and is generally around good people. Her parents are good people. The little in that story is treated really well. But they have different societal peers, and different upbringing and are around different people.
Overall i think you are right. I would say this world does skew a bit harsher then the real world.
I have said on the record if I could do this over again. I would have gone all in and created my own world and based in a parallel version of our world with different history and events. Becuae I also think that the fact its based on our world it opens it up to different level of parallels and scrutiny. Which woudln’t exist if i had fully created my own world in which this happened. It’s a regret but it cannot be changed now.

3) “Jordan didn’t seem as upset with the situation as she was” I mean you don’t know that, approximately twenty-nine hours ago he was upset enough to risk his life in an escape attempt, He’s also likely to scared of Sara to not push his negative emotions about his situation down.
4) She is right about her future with Jordan being under a microscope, and even I can’t fault Sara for that, its a completely reasonable reaction to what Dani did.
5) interstate ideas of little abuse and death are on social media, if I was more optimistic I’d assume they’re cautionary videos for little safety, but since Sara was readily able to find a video of a murdered little, I don’t think that’d be right. In the real world content like that is often censored or banned when it’s posted.
5) agree. Plus it’s odd they live in a society where that stuff is normal and even ok in some sense. Like imagine if it was your brother or sister and you just stumble upon a video of them getting crushed by someone intentionally. That would make me sick and furious.
I would be devastated. Once i overcame the grief i felt I would be furious.
But i know even in this world there are places in this world where you have to live with the fear of if those you love will come home or be killed in some act of violence.
It makes you appreciate living in any country where you don’t have those kind of daily fears.

1) I agree with you 100% I’ve never heard that saying but I really like it. I don’t envy the emotions shes going through and how she must feel and what she has to come to terms with.
2) You are right. There is no real argument that can be made different. But the laws also helped her as Sara was able to show her mercy. Where if things were more automatic Sara’s hands would be tied and ms. Sanchez would be forced to be at the mercy of the little laws.

I did a bunch of post-work to brighten it and add a city to the background. So they have been touched up so they look better on all monitors/screens more equally.
