Cai hadn’t noticed the plane taking off or landing, the Little-Cabin was designed to prevent him getting thrown around by the planes jostling ultimately meant he felt nothing, Cai had only realised it had started by the cabin being opened after the plane had landed and the cabin was now in the airport waiting area, and Teah was offering her hand to him, once abord she lifted him up and after a brief flinch and adjustment to the light he saw who was there. His mother and father, his aunt and her daughter, but most importantly to him standing front and centre were his new legal caretakers, his sisters, his other two thirds Ollie and Dixie.
“Holy shit,” declared Ollie the sudden shock of seeing her brother overwhelming her, she’d been at a dance recital when he’d been found small, by the time she learnt he’d been shrunk he was already shipped to the Micropolis.
Ollie approached hesitantly, she’d been trained with her family but that was weeks ago, she’d zero contact with any littles, Teah gently took her hand and held it near Cai, her twitching fingers causing the shrunken boy reservations but ultimately, he crawled onto her hand, sitting on her open palm pulling her thumb onto his lap as though it was a safety rail.
“Hey Cai,” Ollie said holding the brother she’d been missing, finding him almost unrecognisable at his new size, “Welcome home Bro.”
“What’s up Ollie, it’s good to see you again, it’s good to be back.” He practically yelled attempting to overpower the noise in the airport.
“Pardon?” Ollie aske sweetly tilting her ear closer to her brother.
Cai raised his hands before manoeuvring them around, purposely posing fingers and hands into a message “Hello sister, good back”.
“OK, don’t be mad,” Ollie said, “I know I was supposed to learn Auslan (Australian Sign Language) but…”. Ollie watched disappointment grow on Cai’s face, “I’m trying, it’s just really difficult, I understood “hello” it’s a start.”
“it’s a fucking wave” Cai mumbled under his breath, not that anyone could hear him even if he was yelling.
“He said “It’s good to be back” or words to that effect,” Dixie translated. Putting her arm around her sister and a single finger over her brother in a similar fashion.
“Tell him “It’s good to have him back” please,” Ollie aske Dixie.
“He’s an Unco, not deaf” Dixie corrected Ollie.
“Something eat please” signed Cai hoping to finally get some food in him.
“Didn’t she feed you” asked Dixie side-eyeing Teah.
“I was told there was food in the cabin” Teah retorted reaching inside and lifting out a container, “here, food he could have eaten.”
The girls noticed Cia looking at the food and miming dry heaving.
“Oh, you’re so picky,” Ollie teased.
“You eat it” Cai signed to his sister.
“Good idea,” Dixie said pouring what she now realised were Little Pellets, vegetarian stir-fry flavour, into sister’s free palm, “Try one, then tell him if he’s being picky.”
Ollie locked eye contact with Dixie as she placed the pallet on her tongue closing her mouth around it and chewing, before quickly flinching and spitting it into a nearby bin, “ewe, OK, you’re not being picky, that should be illegal.”
“Yeah, I don’t like them either,” Teah confessed retrieving the signatures of Cai’s parents, “see ya, Cai.” And she turned and left waving good-bye to them and watched them leave the airport taking him home. She loved this part of her job.
Love it lethal!! Can’t wait for more 😎
Yay! Also glad you included the auslan explanation lol I was list the first time I read it. I did have to look up unco though lmao
Unco is short for homunculus, which is what Australians call Littles. Though they also sometimes say “Little” because the term was brought over to Australians by Genritech, as its an American based company.
I realise I accidentally put the explanation in the next chapter and forgot I used it here too early.
Oh lol google told me it was for uncoordinated in Australia 🤣 I like that more though
Cai can be a bit unco in that context aswell.
So short but so good!!!!
It’s actually longer than a typical Smallara episode, but shorter than a Madison’s World episode.
