Kayla 29

Kayla Episode 29: A Smallara Side Story

Kayla stepped out of Talisa’s bedroom with Kelli cradled gently in her hand, her fingers curved slightly to form a protective barrier around her sister. The hallway was dim, lit only by the warm glow of a single lamp at the end of the corridor. Kelli shifted slightly in Kayla’s palm, the slightly rough ridges of her sister’s skin beneath her feet a subtle reminder of her current reality.

Ahead of them, Sara walked with her usual calm confidence, Jordan perched on her shoulder like an extension of herself. His small yawn broke the quiet, the sound faint but audible enough to make Kayla glance at him. His relaxed posture and drooping eyelids were a stark contrast to the tension she felt in her own chest.

As they moved down the hallway toward the stairs, the house’s age seemed to speak in quiet whispers around them, the soft creak of the floorboards beneath their steps, the faint groan of wood settling, the muffled hum of voices drifting from another part of the house. Kelli, perched in Kayla’s hand, glanced at the walls, noticing the intricate moldings and faded family photographs that gave the home a sense of history. She couldn’t help but feel small, not just physically, but emotionally, a guest in a world that once seemed so normal but now felt so far removed.

When they reached the living room, the faint murmur of conversation grew clearer. Talisa’s mother sat on the couch, a magazine spread across her lap, her posture relaxed but attentive. She looked up as Sara and Kayla entered the room, her eyes flicking briefly to the small figures of Kelli and Jordan before settling on the teens.

Sara paused, her natural poise carrying her through the moment as she nodded her head politely. “Thanks for letting us come over, even though Talisa wasn’t supposed to have company,” she said, her voice steady and warm. “We appreciate it.”

Kayla nodded quickly, her grip on Kelli tightening just slightly in a subtle gesture of agreement. “Yeah, thank you,” she echoed. “I’m sorry if we were an inconvenience.”

Talisa’s mother smiled, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear as she waved away their concerns. “Not at all,” she said kindly. “Kayla you’re always welcome here, and it’s so nice to meet you, Sara. Talisa has mentioned you before, it’s clear you’ve made quite an impression.”

Sara smiled faintly, her eyes warm but inscrutable. “Thank you. That means a lot.”

“Kelli it’s good to see you as well. I’m so sorry I must have missed you on the way in. I’m so embarassed.” Talisa’s mother said. “Nice meeting you Jordy.” Talisa’s mother added having spoken with Jordan briefly on the way in.

“It’s okay. I was taking a nap so Kayla has me tucked away.” Kelli said covering for Talisa.

Kayla shifted on her feet, her gaze darting briefly to Kelli before returning to Talisa’s mother. She felt a flicker of relief at the woman’s easygoing demeanor, though her own nerves remained tightly wound. After a moment, Sara turned toward the door, her movements smooth and deliberate as she led the way outside.

The cool evening air greeted them as they stepped onto the front porch. Kayla exhaled quietly, the tension in her shoulders easing just a fraction. Sara’s car was parked a few steps away, its dark outline illuminated by the soft glow of a nearby streetlamp.

The faint shuffle of Sara’s footsteps against the pavement was the only sound as they walked toward the car. Jordan remained perched on her shoulder, his tiny hands gripping the fabric of her jacket lightly as he leaned his head against her neck. Kelli, meanwhile, stayed silent in Kayla’s hand, her small frame nestled securely against her sister’s palm. The warmth of Kayla’s skin was a quiet comfort, but it couldn’t fully quiet the mix of emotions swirling inside her.

As Sara unlocked the car, Kayla hesitated for a moment, glancing down at Kelli. Her sister’s expression was hard to read, her face a mixture of exhaustion and something else, maybe resignation, or maybe just quiet reflection. Kayla wasn’t sure, but she didn’t press.

“You okay?” Kayla asked softly, her voice low enough that only Kelli could hear.

Kelli looked up at her, meeting her gaze with a small nod. “Yeah,” she said simply, though the word carried layers of meaning.

0) Picture looks great as usual

1) “She couldn’t help but feel small, not just physically, but emotionally, a guest in a world that once seemed so normal but now felt so far removed.” considering she was snuck past these sights in a pocket and hoodie previously it would feel small to see all she missed.

2) “Thanks for letting us come over, even though Talisa wasn’t supposed to have company,” So, what was the point of banning the company if they’re just gonna be welcomed anyway?

3) “It’s so nice to meet you, Sara. Talisa has mentioned you before, it’s clear you’ve made quite an impression.” Sara does tend to do that.

4.1) “Kelli it’s good to see you as well. I’m so sorry I must have missed you on the way in. I’m so embarrassed.” That was by design Mrs [Last Name Concealed]
4.2) “Nice meeting you Jordy.” I like that she addressed the littles and the biggles.

5) “It’s okay. I was taking a nap so Kayla has me tucked away.” Kelli said covering for Talisa.” Good Kelli, protect Talisa.

6) “Jordan remained perched on her shoulder, his tiny hands gripping the fabric of her jacket lightly as he leaned his head against her neck. Kelli, meanwhile, stayed silent in Kayla’s hand, her small frame nestled securely against her sister’s palm” I love the stark difference in how they hold their littles.

7) “Her sister’s expression was hard to read, her face a mixture of exhaustion and something else, maybe resignation, or maybe just quiet reflection” she’d have a lot swirling within her.

8) “You okay?” – “Yeah,” Kayla checking in is good, though I suspect Kelli’s answer is more complicated than just a “yeah”

0) lol.

1) “move freely” is a bit of a stretch, but I agree.

2) Compromised I see.

3) she has stated such.

4) That’s understandable, she was tricked, and Kayla would have been here much earlier if she wasn’t.

5) she must be protected

6) Jordan is bonded to her, his trust is implicated

7) so much going on for the Little woman.

8) To complicated for the amount of time she had, I’m hoping more comes up tomorrow, I’m suspecting it’ll be a bigger chapter.

1) I think Kelli finding a way to safely be on Kayla’s neck & shoulder area will help Kelli like it did Jordan but she might need to tie Kayla’s hair around herself like a seat belt because Sara’s is so good at minimizing movement for littles.
5) Yeah lets keep sweet Talisa out of trouble lol.
6) I agree, I said the same up at 1. I think its a way Sara can help Kayla learn more body control and Sara can get her little man some Kelli time by Jordan helping teach Kelli where to physically put her body and where to hold on to.
7) Poor little Kelli is wiped out because she already has no control and she is probably getting a stress stomach issue from the stress of her Giant sister that runs her life being so upset she had to dump her off on her untrained friend and also the being hid from other giants and having to not be comfortable.
8) Kelli is in a strange position in that she now has to be in the less is more mode because she doesn’t know what is going to set off Kayla again so hopefully Kayla tells Kelli what will set her off so Kelli can avoid saying anything about those issues. I too bad Kelli has to control her speech but all littles do I am sure because when you need a big’s protection from the big world and you never know if they get upset they could make a hand gesture and accidently kill you.

Awe, was hoping for a little more from Tallisa’s mom, but at least i get the impression she’s more on the pro-little side of things based on her interaction with Jordan and Kelli
