The warm fall air slapped Bryce in the face as the sound of birds chirping reached his ears, an almost foreign sensation. He squinted against the sunlight, feeling strangely exposed as Mia strolled down the front steps. His world for so long had been filled with manufactured air, predictable temperatures, and the artificial hum of climate control. Even when he had been allowed outside at the facility, it had been a yard enclosed by towering walls, the sky only a distant thing above. Even with Mia, his world had been limited to the four walls of her room, where it was always a crisp 68 degrees, the way she and Logan liked it.
Now, out here in the open, the air carried a bite of crisp autumn mixed with the scent of damp leaves and distant exhaust. It was intoxicating.
As Mia walked along the sidewalk, Bryce clung to the small harness against his chest, feeling the leash mechanism shift slightly with every step she took. His eyes darted across the scenery, taking in towering trees swaying in the breeze, students moving in lazy conversation, the occasional squirrel scurrying through fallen leaves.
A squirrel.
His breath hitched as he fixated on the small creature, its sleek body darting up the rough bark of a tree with ease. He had seen countless squirrels in his life, but never like this, never as something so much bigger than himself. His mind reeled at the sheer scale of it. A squirrel was harmless to Mia, a minor nuisance at most. To him, it was a beast, a predator that, if desperate enough, could overpower him in an instant. The thought left a sick feeling curling in his gut.
Mia’s knowing voice cut through his thoughts.
“That’s just one of many reasons you can’t exist in this world without me, Wexie.” She caught his gaze, a smirk playing at her lips, eyes gleaming with amusement. “But as long as you’re good and obedient, you have nothing to worry about.”
She let the words linger between them, reveling in his helplessness. Bryce gritted his teeth. He had learned to choose his battles, and there was no use in arguing with her when she had this much power over him.
“We’re meeting Logan and her sister downtown,” Mia continued casually. “Then I might do a little shopping… or I could just go back home and relax. You’re positive you did my paper right this time?”
Bryce barely had time to brace himself before the leash mechanism activated. The line descended sharply, dropping him what felt like twenty feet in an instant before jerking him to a stop, dangling helplessly in the air. His stomach lurched, and for a moment, panic overtook him before the whir of the gears reeled him back up.
“Yes, Mia,” he said quickly, his voice tight with frustration. “I made sure to include a few spelling errors and mimicked your tone better.”
A soft chuckle. She had done it just to watch him squirm.
“Good,” she said, giving a slight bounce to the leash handle, causing him to sway. “You really screwed me over last time. I may be smart, but perfect scores? Yeah, not my thing.”
Bryce forced himself to exhale slowly, steadying himself as he dangled before being reeled back in. It was infuriating, knowing Mia had the potential to excel but simply chose not to. He had seen her in class, taking notes with sharp precision, absorbing material effortlessly. And yet, she had always settled for mediocrity, leaning on charm, money, and intimidation to coast by.
Now, the tables had turned in the cruelest way possible. His intelligence, his hard work, everything he had built his life on, was reduced to nothing more than a tool for her convenience.
Life with Mia was… complicated.
He had expected her to be cruel, and at times, she was. But there were moments, small, fleeting moments, where she was almost… considerate. The cage she had carried in, the one she had taken such delight in showing off to him, had been more than just a box. She had taken the time to furnish it, making sure it had warmth, comfort, a strange mockery of a real home. When he had started teaching remotely, she had ensured the school didn’t reveal his status to the students, insisting they see him for his work and not as her pet.
And then there were the little things.
The way she always came home to feed him, adjusting his meals so he didn’t become dependent on pellets. The way she offhandedly mentioned making sure he had variety in his diet, as if it was just a casual thought rather than a conscious effort. The way she had, without admitting it, ensured he kept some shred of dignity in his work, even as she degraded him in nearly every other way.
It didn’t make the humiliation any easier. It didn’t undo the reality that he was hers. But it complicated the emotions that swirled inside him.
He hated her.
But part of him understood her.
And maybe, in the deepest, darkest part of his mind, part of him feared what would happen if she ever decided he wasn’t worth keeping.
“Remember,” Mia said, her voice snapping him back to the present. “If you can’t listen and show obedience, it’s back to square one with you.”
Bryce swallowed, nodding stiffly before mustering a verbal response.
“Yes, Mia.”
She smirked, satisfied, and continued walking.
Bryce looked away, his gaze drifting to the towering world around him.
It was beautiful.
And it was utterly, hopelessly out of reach.
The oddest pairing in this whole verse and it’s not even close lol
Well the pairing is very transcational.
Wait Mia is mad at perfect scores? Most college students would love to get those on their papers.
Anyway, poor Bryce, makes me wish he ended up with Oakley as his guardian instead of this lazy scrub known as Mia Lawson.
It looks suspicious for someone to randomly go from C’s to straight A’s.
We don’t actually know if Oakley would make a good Guardian, though better than Mia wouldn’t be hard. besides she can’t afford a little.
I know, Bryce is one of the few littles in this universe that I feel bad for because he ended up with the worst guardian in this verse.
Of the one’s we’ve seen, That’s actually Christine with her daughter and guardian Saddie, and by a significant margin.
I would agree personally.
0) So will we go back to every Friday we get a side story?
1.1) ”The warm fall air slapped Bryce in the face as the sound of birds chirping reached his ears, an almost foreign sensation” Dude hadn’t left the dorm in almost a month, and hadn’t been outside for months before that, it’d be weird for sure (Literally the next sentence, lol)
1.2) “where it was always a crisp 68 degrees, the way she and Logan liked it.” I forgot for a moment that Americans use Fahrenheit and wondered how any of them would find that temp not shitty.
2) “air carried a bite of crisp autumn mixed with the scent of damp leaves and distant exhaust. It was intoxicating” all the smells he’d missed
3) “As Mia walked along the sidewalk, Bryce clung to the small harness against his chest” a slight upgrade from just the collar.
4) “He had seen countless squirrels in his life, but never like this, never as something so much bigger than himself.” I wonder how difficult it would be to train animals for littles to ride.
5.1) “That’s just one of many reasons you can’t exist in this world without me, Wexie.” It doesn’t need to be you Mia, it’s never needed to be you.
5.2) “But as long as you’re good and obedient, you have nothing to worry about.” is she implying she’d feed him to an animal if he was naughty?
6) “She let the words linger between them, reveling in his helplessness” I hate it when guardians do that.
7.1) “We’re meeting Logan and her sister downtown,” Yay, more Londyn.
7.2) “Then I might do a little shopping” for a second I thought she meant shopping for her little, but then I remembered who Mia is.
8) “The line descended sharply, dropping him what felt like twenty feet in an instant before jerking him to a stop, dangling helplessly in the air.” Mia is such a cruel bitch.
9) “Yes, Mia, I made sure to include a few spelling errors and mimicked your tone better.” Mia wouldn’t have these problems if she did her own damn homework.
10) “It was infuriating, knowing Mia had the potential to excel but simply chose not to. He had seen her in class, taking notes with sharp precision, absorbing material effortlessly” That would piss a teacher off, most other littles wouldn’t notice and might not care, but teachers are trained to see that shit.
11) “Now, the tables had turned in the cruellest way possible. His intelligence, his hard work, everything he had built his life on, was reduced to nothing more than a tool for her convenience.” just like many littles before him
12) “He had expected her to be cruel, and at times, she was. But there were moments, small, fleeting moments, where she was almost… considerate” Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.
13.1) “The cage she had carried in, the one she had taken such delight in showing off to him, had been more than just a box. She had taken the time to furnish it, making sure it had warmth, comfort, a strange mockery of a real home” That’s still something to decorate her dorm with, it’s not just
13.2) “When he had started teaching remotely, she had ensured the school didn’t reveal his status to the students, insisting they see him for his work and not as her pet” I like that the students don’s know, I’m very surprised Mia had anything to do with them keeping it secret.
14.1) “The way she always came home to feed him, adjusting his meals so he didn’t become dependent on pellets” and here I thought she was just too lazy to but pallets.
14.2) “The way she offhandedly mentioned making sure he had variety in his diet, as if it was just a casual thought rather than a conscious effort” Not bragging about her “kindness” is a surprise.
14.3) “The way she had, without admitting it, ensured he kept some shred of dignity in his work, even as she degraded him in nearly every other way.” That he could be reading too much into, she’d be able to imagine how most students (not Chrissy or Londyn) would react to having a Little teacher, and how that reaction could get him fired.
15) “It didn’t make the humiliation any easier. It didn’t undo the reality that he was hers. But it complicated the emotions that swirled inside him.” good, I was worried a few acts of “kindness” were going to have him forgive her entirely/
16)“Remember, If you can’t listen and show obedience, it’s back to square one with you.” Just a hard reset if she doesn’t get her way? That’s upsettingly on brand for Mia.
17) “Bryce looked away, his gaze drifting to the towering world around him. It was beautiful. And it was utterly, hopelessly out of reach.”
0) Probably not i didn’t really care for it as it got to be cumbersome to track and work around. It’s a bit easier to do a side story in the way the Kayla Story went. Where I just write out a short story and post the episodes. Then go back to another tale.
1) It would be a different experience to be back in the world of living. Smells, sounds. everything would be almost like a new experience. It would be like moving away form home for years then going back to your hometown.
1.2) Yea, i forgot the rest of the world uses celsius. 68 Celisus would not be comfortable. That would be a bit over 150 degrees
2) exactly. All the memories coming back.
3) A harness would be safer then a collar. Especially with how Mia uses it.
4) Not impossible but probably difficult as the littles would need to domesticate them enough to make it viable. Kind of horses.
5) Mia has different messaging then you on that point. Although its difficult as he belongs to her. SO he has few options.
5.2) She is saying exactly what she said, and anything more or less is on the imagination of bryce and everyone else. Granted she is using her words that way on purpose. she woudln’t kill him though. That would be extreme. She hasn’t really done anything ln that ballpark towards Bryce.
6) As a writer I kind of like it. As it lets peoples imaginations run and in this case Bryces.
7) Yup.
7.2)You’re so silly. Mia thinking beyond MIa is crazy talk.
8) Some people pay for that kind of rush.
9) Its best not focus on fairytales and fantasy lethal….lol
10) that is bryces exact mindset. He knows the potential and ability she has and she chooses to take shortcuts when she is smart enough not need it. She could breeze through it but doesn’t want too.
11) A tale as old as time. You don’t need to be a little to be exploited like that. Its happened through all of human history .
12)True, although Mia shows shades of niceness more often then that.
13) It is, but it is a bit extravagant all things considered.
13.2) Mia is thorough in when she does do something. She does plan things out. Usually, she just wastes those skills on things that are less important.
14) I wanted to highlight the good things Mia does do just for fair balance.
14.2)Althugh throughout the series she hasn’t bragged all that much.
14.3) that one could go either way. Bryce is just choosing to consider it something nice she is doing.
15) He is his doubts like you do.
16)Thats the Mia way. Disobedience has a price. You get busted back to square one and have to prove yourself all over again.
17) I think you forgot the question with this one. As this is just an excerpt from the story.
1.1) Though the sounds and smells would hit differently given his enhanced senses.
3) Mia is a cunt about it.
4) Well, humans would help, and control it.
5.1) True, but any guardian would do.
5.2) I’m not saying she’d kill him, I’m saying she’d turn blind eye to an animal doing it.
6) I know, it’s entertaining, it’s a “love to hate” type thing
7.2) I was a fool, I see that now.
8) Mia’s or Bryce’s
9) Well, that’s my weekend gone.
11) indeed
12) I’d like to see such a moment, it’d be like a bigfoot sighting. (Though big feet aren’t too rare in this verse)
13.1) But it’s there because she likes it, not just for him.
13.2) Mia is thorough in when she does do something. She does plan things out. Usually, she just wastes those skills on things that are less important.
14.1) I don’t think her good balance out anything.
14.2) Nor done that much kindness
14.3) Which could be a mistake.
17) It was something about tantalising him with his old life.
I am sure this sounds strange but I think Mia would be a good guardian if he would lean into being a needy pet person and she would eat that up and would have him close to her like on her neck like sara instead of a leash. For someone that thinks they are so smart , like many humanity graduates to unfortunately do lol.(I cant help it I’m a stem geek lol) he hasn’t figured out the best way to improve is living arrangement’s by sucking up to the boss which is Mia. He is surrounded by beautiful woman that also have littles and he gets to do his old job to make his boss happy and gets to do her school work to make her happy. Sounds like a better home then most littles. If he is lucky maybe she will let him ride the vibrator like a bucking bronco for fun when she is using it lol. She sounds like she was being very smart and good to him with meal planning and his living conditions. I’m not hating on Mia, she is not the best but if I had to be a little with all my education, she would be on the top of my list with the guardians we have seen so far lol. I am interested what guardian would everybody want based on the guardians we have chapters on so far? I hate to say it but so far for me it would be Sara and second Mia
If I had to pick my guardian as a little it’d be either Chrissy or Dayton.
Hailey, Ellie, Mallory in no specific order.
I forgot about Ellie, should would be at the top of my list lol
digging the new site.
I may have to go back an re-read this. it’s the story i followed the least when i was getting into Smallara. That being said, Mia’s sorority sisters, from what I remember, seemed a lot nicer than she herself does, so i’d like to see more of them. especially since I htink one has their own little.
Atleast it’s not a long read like some series.
Only a couple of her sorority sisters have been shown but they have been generally better then Mia.
