Jordan felt a wave of warmth spread through his chest as Sara entered the kitchen. It wasn’t just because he saw her first—it was the realization of how much he had come to anticipate her presence.
He hadn’t even known he was looking forward to seeing her, but the moment she stepped into the room, a sense of ease settled over him. It was strange. In his old life, Sara had been nothing more than a neighbor, someone he knew in passing. Now, she was his Guardian, his caretaker, his… everything, really.
He wasn’t sure how he felt about that.
The bond between them was growing faster than he had expected. It was probably the constant proximity. She held him more often than not, whether he was perched on her shoulder, curled up in her palm, or tucked into her blazer pocket. She fed him from her plate, doted on him in ways that were embarrassing yet oddly comforting. It was an intimacy that had formed out of necessity, but it was becoming something deeper.
A dependency.
Sara stifled a yawn as she walked in, still half-asleep. Her long hair was slightly tangled, and she was wearing an oversized hoodie that swallowed her frame. She rubbed one eye lazily before scanning the room.
“It’s so nice of you to grace the house with your presence,” Tiffany joked, though there was a trace of seriousness behind it. Sara had been so busy lately that even her own mother barely saw her.
“We normally see her around meal times,” Mr. Reeves added as he entered the kitchen behind her.
“Stoooppp, I see you all plenty,” Sara whined in that half-playful, half-teenage way before her eyes landed on Jordan.
Without a word, she reached down and gave him a gentle pet with the tip of her finger. It was barely a touch—just the softest brush against his shoulder and upper back—but it sent a shiver through him.
Jordan hated how much he leaned into it.
He wasn’t even thinking. His body just reacted, instinctively pressing against her fingertip as if it were the most natural thing in the world. The warmth of her skin, the faint scent of her vanilla-scented lotion—it all felt safe. Familiar.
Sara smirked at his reaction before sitting down across from Ellie, snagging a piece of bacon from her plate without asking.
Ellie swatted at her. “Get your own!”
Sara popped the piece into her mouth with a smug look. “I just did.”
Jordan watched the two best friends bicker like sisters as he sat against Ellie’s arm, still trying to process the strange sense of attachment that had taken root inside him.
It wasn’t just about survival anymore.
It wasn’t just about needing a Guardian to avoid being thrown into the system.
Some part of him actually… liked being around Sara.
And that terrified him.
Tiffany poured herself another cup of coffee and gave her daughter a knowing look. “You’re getting pretty attached to him, huh?”
Sara swallowed her bite of bacon before shrugging. “Of course, I am. He’s my wittle man.” She glanced down at Jordan with a teasing smile. “Right, Jordy?”
Jordan crossed his arms. “I don’t belong to you.”
Ellie snorted. “You sure about that? Because from where I’m sitting, you’re literally leaning against my arm like a little lap dog.”
Jordan immediately sat up straighter, his face flushing.
Sara laughed. “It’s okay, Jordy. You don’t have to fight it.”
He glared at her. “I’m not fighting anything.”
Sara reached for him again, and this time, instead of just petting him, she scooped him up in one smooth motion. Jordan barely had time to react before he was resting in her hand, her fingers curling protectively around him.
“You say that,” she said, lifting him toward her face, “but you’re not exactly struggling right now.”
Jordan scowled but didn’t move. Not because he couldn’t, he knew Sara would let him go if he really wanted, but because… well, where would he even go? The countertop was vast, and if he jumped down, it would take him forever to get anywhere assuming he could land uninjured or alive.
Besides, he didn’t actually want to.
Sara’s hand was warm. Comfortable. Safe.
She held him like he was something precious, and even though he hated the idea of being seen as a pet, there was a small, shameful part of him that enjoyed being cared for like this.
Mrs. Reeves watched them with quiet amusement before taking a sip of her coffee. “You know, Sara, the way you dote on him, you’d think you had a child instead of a Little.”
Sara smirked. “Well, he is kinda like my child My tiny, angry child.”
Jordan groaned. “I am not your child.”
Ellie grinned. “Says the guy who’s literally being cradled right now.”
Jordan felt his face heat up again.
“I hate all of you.”
Sara chuckled and gave him a soft scratch behind the head, the way she sometimes did when he was especially grumpy. “You love us.”
Jordan didn’t dignify that with an answer.
Breakfast continued in the same lighthearted way, with Sara and Ellie joking with each other as Sara’s parents looked on, amused. Jordan sat comfortably in Sara’s hand, nibbling at the last bit of bacon she offered him.
As much as he resisted, he knew the truth.
This was his life now.
Sara wasn’t just his Guardian. She was becoming his world.
And that scared him more than anything.
Embarrassed Jordy is great. It’s the little moments I enjoy the most in this story, and they even make me tolerate Sara a bit instead of hating her like I usually do.
Jordan getting embarassed is fun. Sara definately has hate her, love her, tolerate her moments. But that’s kind of her character. I wanted to write a character that isn’t bad and isn’t really good. But does have a belief system and opinions that they govern themselves by.
I can see why it would bother him. It’s a natural thing that’s developing probably much faster than he wants it to and is still adjusting mentally to things even though he’s instinctively almost there. I wonder if he’ll ever just be more open about it with sarah. She seems to blow him off with this stuff most of the time cause she thinks or knows it’s normal for a little, but I think eventually she’s gonna have to see that he’s not ready yet from a mental standpoint and will need to address it similar to Kayla and Kelli.
It is understandable and it has been less than a week so things are moving quickly for Jordan even if its not for the reader.
Sara really hasn’t done that much to rush him. She has more just lived her life with her new companion, pet, support little, etc.
I believe littles lives are better when they are bonded with their guardians if they have a guardian that takes good care of them and Sara under Choles influence is a caring guardian. That is why I believe Kelli’s life will be better bonded to Kayla because she is strong willed enough I think to still keep her personality but be mellowed out and be more open to Kayla taking care of her.
1) “it was the realization of how much he had come to anticipate her presence.” his biggest return to normalcy and his best morning yet had been without her, but I knew she would be returning, looming over our heads like a guillotine.
2) “Now, she was his Guardian, his caretaker, his… everything, really. He wasn’t sure how he felt about that.” That bond is taking hold of him, and I’d be worried too
3.1) “It’s so nice of you to grace the house with your presence,” I remember being greeted like that by my mother
3.2) “We normally see her around meal times,” Well, you’re not exactly a common sight either.
4) “Jordan hated how much he leaned into it. He wasn’t even thinking. His body just reacted, instinctively pressing against her fingertip as if it were the most natural thing in the world. The warmth of her skin, the faint scent of her vanilla-scented lotion—it all felt safe. Familiar.” I like that he is having reservations about the bond, his conscious mind vs his instincts and hormones.
5.1) “Ellie, snagging a piece of bacon from her plate without asking.” she wouldn;t even let her cousins do that.
5.2) “Get your own!” – “I just did.” Dialog like that is why they aren’t just friends, they’re sisters.
6) “It wasn’t just about survival anymore. It wasn’t just about needing a Guardian to avoid being thrown into the system. Some part of him actually… liked being around Sara. And that terrified him.” It’s definitely not a healthy attachment for him to have, his trepidation is a good sign.
7) “I don’t belong to you.” objectively not true, plus he gave his word he wouldn’t fight her on this, which he’s now breaking.
8) “It’s okay, Jordy. You don’t have to fight it.” – “I’m not fighting anything.” Surprisingly reasonable reaction from Sara.
9) ““You say that, but you’re not exactly struggling right now.” Not like he really could.
10) “even though he hated the idea of being seen as a pet, there was a small, shameful part of him that enjoyed being cared for like this” not gonna lie I love that these feelings are being put on more display in this chapter.
11.1) “You know, Sara, the way you dote on him, you’d think you had a child instead of a Little.” well guardian is another word for parent.
11.2) “Well, he is kinda like my child My tiny, angry child.” considering how much he lets slide with no reaction, and how much angrier Sara gets when things don’t go her way, she’s talking shit.
12.1) “I hate all of you.” – “You love us.” Anger met with teasing is not a good way to handle it.
12.2) “Jordan didn’t dignify that with an answer” now would be a good time to ask her to put him down.
13) “Jordan sat comfortably in Sara’s hand, nibbling at the last bit of bacon she offered him.” more bacon would make this seem better.
14) “Sara wasn’t just his Guardian. She was becoming his world. And that scared him more than anything.” she’d kind of have to be, and that’s terrifying, not only is he reliant on her, but his own little biology is forcing a bond with her against his will, a bond she knew about the whole time and let happen without warning him or getting his consent, not that his consent ever mattered to her anyway.
1) Well it is her home. She was bound to wake up sooner or later. I do like the morbid outlook you provided though. It has a real Darth Sara feel.
2) I would say not everything is the bond. The bond is a thing and does factor in. But its also just Jordan not minding some of the change. As Jordan is less opposed to some of it then you are I would say.
3.1) It is a barely motherly thing to say.
3.2) He has been at every breakfast depicted though and has been home in the evenings. He can’t control his work hours.
4) Even without the bond if a person does something that feels good. Its not abnormal to lean into it.
5.1 and 5.2) It does show there closeness and comfortableness around each other. Although it was Sara stealing from Ellie’s plate but the point and meaning still stand.
6) He is kind of coming to grips or terms with things. Some doubt in his mind which is healthy. Everyone should have a bit of doubt about things.
7) Yeah he is. I wanted to show that Jordan is also guilty of making mistakes. Its not always says Sara who is in the wrong. Even if she is portrayed as a antagonist in the story.
8) They are getting to know each other better. So Sara is figuring out how to respond to Jordan better, what he likes, doesn’t like, etc.
9) Well if he was attempting to struggle and show he doesn’t like something. They would react differently if he is being sincere.
10) ITs been long enough where we can start to show Jordan’s journey a bit more.
11) yup, that’s where it came from.
11.2) The no reaction is what does more harm then good. As it makes it more difficult for the guardian to understand what is being felt by the little or the likes and dislikes, if something is a step to far. As it then creates a situation where someone like Sara is having to guess.
12) Well Jordan didn’t really say it angerily though. He more intended it in a friendly playful manner like when you are joking around with a friend. As he and Ellie were joking most of the morning. So he was more saying I hate you in that way. Not in a he’s angry and he hates them sort of way. Which is why the response was the you love us. As it was a light hearted moment. or intended to be.
13) More Bacon makes most things better.
14) Getting his consent would have been better although Jordan not being a believer could have put himself in a worse situation. As once he went to the hospital he would have been in system and if he wasn’t going to his family
If the goal is to be happy, I have said this before but I think Jordans life is better now then it was when bigger, of course not in everything. He gets his meals made and given to him. He gets his cloths, housing and travel paid for free. He doesn’t have to work a regular job and his job now is to cuddle up to a beautiful giant woman and make her feel better doing her nails and going with her places. She has more interactions with people and the world he never did before because of his shyness. He gets the best masseuse ever all the time with a pet.
I tend to generally agree with you. I think there are some negatives to it all but by and large its not so bad. Can Sara be a little controlling sure. I don’t agree with all of her opinions, views and ideals but that can be said for other people as well.
I think all and all there are much worse people then Sara in this world. That doesn’t excuse the bad things she has done as Lethal like to say. However I do think it does and should frame them
Lethal has valid points like I did early on with Kayla but I think they have both gotten better because of people and new events in their lives. I believe in second chances and have given Kayla hers and so far she is stepping up and being more engaged and loving with Kelli and understanding what she is going through and needs and has brought out of Kelli having to understand she needs to respect an appreciate Kayla’s role as the younger giant sister that is making sure Kelli is safe and happy
1) Thanks, I wanted my feelings known
2) Definitely.
3.2) two out of the three.
4) True.
6) I just like that it feels more like he’s hesitating than it normally does.
7) I’m disappointed in him but not surprised.
8) Good, her overreaction were one of my main issues with her.
9) She’s ignored it before, I don’t think ignoring it again is off the table.
10) yay
11.2) Sara’s ignored his attempts to communicate with her far too often for me to think “he’s not trying” is the real issue, if she hadn’t ignored him, he wouldn’t have given up.
12) I see, lol my bad.
13) Can confirm
14) It would have been better, even if he didn’t believe in it telling him would have been the right call. Plus, he already knew about the remnants so who knows what he’d believe at that point.
People learn to be independent and Littles like Jordy learn to be dependent!
That’s the difference between pet ownership and parenting.
I agree with you being a parent but I see both with Jordan and Sara’s relationship. Jordan is like a very young child that needs everything done for him and of course a small pet that is dependent for everything plus protection for a scary world they are aware of.
