The morning went by fairly quickly with Sara and her friends chatting excitedly about tonight’s party. Between their discussions about outfits, drinks, and who was bringing what, Jordan felt like background noise, something he didn’t entirely mind. He was used to the chatter by now, and it meant Sara wasn’t hovering over him for once.
As they moved through their morning classes, Jordan occupied himself with the tablet Sara had given him. While it granted him unrestricted access to the Littlenet, it wasn’t quite the same as having the full internet. It was a curated version tailored for Littles, and while Sara had given him full access within those boundaries, it still felt like a digital playpen.
Sara herself didn’t seem particularly concerned with regulating his browsing. It wasn’t about control, at least not for her. She just didn’t want to risk getting in trouble, so she did what she was legally required to do and left it at that. The rules around how much of the actual internet a Little could see were murky at best, a mix of government oversight and foreign corporate interests.
Jordan scrolled through the news, occasionally glancing up at the massive world around him. Sara’s school was a sprawling, modern campus with sleek hallways and enormous windows that made him feel even smaller than usual. The contrast between his tiny existence and the towering scale of everything around him never quite faded, no matter how long he had been living this life.
He sat comfortably in Sara’s open bag, nestled between a few notebooks and a hoodie she had crammed inside. Sara had offered him to sit on her desk or her bag . He ended up choosing her bag and she left it unzipped knowing Jordan didn’t like feeling trapped. It wasn’t a bad setup; at least it was padded. Occasionally, she would reach down and absentmindedly stroke his head, as if reassuring herself he was still there. He grumbled in protest, but it never stopped her.
“You comfy in there, wittle man?” Sara teased, shifting the bag slightly as she adjusted in her seat.
Jordan sighed. “As comfy as I can be while being literally carried around like a doll.”
Ellie smirked from her desk beside Sara. “Hey, at least you don’t have to sit through Mr. Daven’s history lecture. Trust me, I’d trade places.”
Jordan smirked back. “Oh yeah? You wanna be crammed in a bag all day? Intermixed with a bit of shoulder riding?”
Ellie pretended to consider it. “Depends. Do I still get snacks on demand?”
Sara chuckled, tapping her pen against her notebook. “I’d say no, but knowing Jordy, he’s probably snuck something in there. Chloe gave him some little treats yesterday.”
Jordan huffed. “I would never.”
Sara raised an eyebrow, reaching into her bag and fishing around before pulling out a tiny granola bar he had hidden. “Mmmhmm.”
Ellie burst out laughing. “Busted.”
Jordan crossed his arms. “A guy’s gotta have emergency supplies.”
The next class was math, which Jordan found endlessly boring. He shifted around in the bag, trying to find a more comfortable position before Sara pulled him out and let him sit on her shoulder while she scribbled down notes. He glanced at her work occasionally, barely comprehending the formulas she was copying down. Being in Sara’s classes meant he was exposed to advanced high school-level material far beyond what he had been learning before shrinking. Still, part of him liked that he wasn’t stuck doing ‘Little’ lessons like some Littles were forced to endure.
During science class, Sara and Kayla worked together on a chemistry lab, measuring liquids and taking notes while Jordan watched from the edge of the table, sitting on a textbook. Kayla had mentioned earlier that Kelli hadn’t come to school today, she was staying home. Jordan found himself wondering what she was up to, if she was bored like he was, or if she was actually enjoying a day away from the towering chaos of the full-sized world. Sara had positioned him there so he could stretch a bit, but it also gave him a front-row seat to how different everything was now. The beakers were massive, the glass stirring rods looked like medieval weapons, and the Bunsen burner was a small inferno in his eyes. He stayed as still as possible, not wanting to be the reason something got knocked over.
“You look nervous,” Sara whispered to him as she adjusted her goggles.
Jordan eyed the setup warily. “You’re handling literal fire, and I’m the size of a coffee cup. Forgive me if I don’t feel entirely safe.”
Kayla carefully poured a liquid into a beaker, her movements precise and methodical. “Relax, Jordy. It’s not like we’re gonna drop you in there.”
“Not helping,” Jordan muttered.
The last class before lunch was a literature class, which Jordan actually enjoyed. He had always liked literature, and being able to listen in on a discussion about a novel was more interesting than staring at a screen. He perched on Sara’s desk, trying not to draw attention to himself as the teacher went on about themes and character motivations. At one point, he even found himself nodding along in agreement.
Sara noticed. “You actually interested?” she whispered.
Jordan shrugged. “It beats watching you do math.”
Sara rolled her eyes but smirked. “Noted.”
The morning classes continued, uneventful but comfortable in their routine. By the time the last class before lunch rolled around, Jordan found himself dozing off slightly, lulled by the quiet hum of voices and the warmth of Sara’s bag. It wasn’t the worst way to spend a school day, he supposed. Sara continued to keep the bag open at the top so that he wouldn’t feel trapped or locked inside.
like the POV view lol
enjoyable chapter over all. probably sucks sitting in the bag
Jordan did choose to though as Sara did offer if he wanted to be on the desk or in the bag. He does have a iPad now which helps.
Her hair seems soft so I’m surprised he doesn’t curl up in her hair up against her warm neck while on the I pad. The I pad wont make noise so it shouldn’t bother anyone. I never turn my I Pad pro sound on. I would think it would be a much better place to chill with some hair tied around him. =)
He does ride on her shoulder quite a bit. Jordan more just wanted to be out of sight. But your suggestion would be comfy
your right, I keep forgetting Jordan likes to hide away more then normal people. lol
The fact that Jordan likes literature is pretty awesome and the fact that Sara said Noted makes me wonder if she might purchase him some little books or get some reading material. We know that in brother’s little books do exist all albeit not yet but but they do have books that bigs would read so maybe Jordan can get some real reading material to keep him entertained.
I could see Sara getting him some e-books or something along those lines.
As it would be easy to convert to a pdf or something along those lines to send to him.
Maybe we can see it as a reward system in the future.
Sara: Hey Jordy if you do x and behave I’ll buy you a book by Dostoevsky and send it to your tablet!
Jordan: Fine. As long as it’s crime and punishment. I wanna read that first. Or maybe a copy of Of mice and men. 🤔
It’d probably be incorporated in his already existing reward/point system
Sara: These ebooks will cost you 100 points each or 1000 for a dozen.
Ellie: You’re giving him bulk deals?
Sara: Yes, because it’s my point system, and I like to shake it up sometimes.
Honestly that makes the most sense. Sarah making changing it up for her own amusement would be 100% likely. Even that 12 for the price of 10 albeit she would probably act like she’s doing him a favor despite being able to previously access the entire actual internet. I hope in the end we see littles have access to more normal things rather than just be slaves and servants to a system that chose to abuse them. Or some other kind of even bitter sweet ending where things are looking up but its a long way.
what about the greatest books of all time, The Lord of the Rings lol.
1) “Jordan felt like background noise, something he didn’t entirely mind. He was used to the chatter by now, and it meant Sara wasn’t hovering over him for once.” he never did like being the centre of attention.
2.1) “As they moved through their morning classes,” Oh, I wasn’t expecting you to skip over those.
2.2) “Jordan occupied himself with the tablet Sara had given him” Better than doing classes with her.
2.3) “While it granted him unrestricted access to the Littlenet, it wasn’t quite the same as having the full internet.” Restricting Littles’ internet access, because why the fuck not?
3.1) “Sara herself didn’t seem particularly concerned with regulating his browsing. It wasn’t about control, at least not for her.” unlike everything else.
3.2) “The rules around how much of the actual internet a Little could see were murky at best, a mix of government oversight and foreign corporate interests.” I’m sure a Little with the unrestricted internet would be exceedingly dangerous.
4.1) “He sat comfortably in Sara’s open bag, nestled between a few notebooks and a hoodie she had crammed inside. Sara had offered him to sit on her desk or her bag” that’s a surprise given his previous feelings about the bag, but I’m glad he got to choose.
4.2) “Occasionally, she would reach down and absentmindedly stroke his head, as if reassuring herself he was still there” well he does have an escape attempt on record.
4.3) “He grumbled in protest, but it never stopped her.” not something she’d care about.
5.1) “Hey, at least you don’t have to sit through Mr. Daven’s history lecture” why doesn’t he? I thought he was enrolled in all of Sara’s classes and had to do all the same tests she did.
5.2) “Trust me, I’d trade places.” no the fuck you wouldn’t
6.2) “Oh yeah? You wanna be crammed in a bag all day? Intermixed with a bit of shoulder riding?” – “Depends. Do I still get snacks on demand?” What do you think Ellie? Does Jordan get snacks on demand? NO! (Although I’d definitely give Little Ellie snacks on demand I’m just weak like that.)
6.2) “I’d say no, but knowing Jordy, he’s probably snuck something in there. Chloe gave him some little treats yesterday.” I was right, and Chloe once again being great.
7.1) “Sara raised an eyebrow, reaching into her bag and fishing around before pulling out a tiny granola bar” Damn, Chloe gave him proper Little Food.
7.2) “A guy’s gotta have emergency supplies.” Jordan is right.
8) “part of him liked that he wasn’t stuck doing ‘Little’ lessons like some Littles were forced to endure.” but why isn’t he doing her lessons like he was before?
9) “Kayla had mentioned earlier that Kelli hadn’t come to school today, she was staying home” good for her.
10) “He stayed as still as possible, not wanting to be the reason something got knocked over” it’d be pretty impressive if he knocked something over.
11) “I’m the size of a coffee cup” I’ve never seen a coffee cup that small (unless he purely meant height, but even then it’s a stretch.
12) “Relax, Jordy. It’s not like we’re gonna drop you in there.” – “Not helping,” I see why Kayla would have thought that’d help, but I also see why it didn’t.
13) “He had always liked literature, and being able to listen in on a discussion about a novel was more interesting than staring at a screen” so is a literature class different from an English class? Sounds like Miss Brooks isn’t the teacher or you’d mention it.
14) “You actually interested?” – “It beats watching you do math.” – “Noted.” It would be more entertaining than maths, there’s a reasons stories have been used for entertainment in every human culture.
15) “By the time the last class before lunch rolled around, Jordan found himself dozing off slightly, lulled by the quiet hum of voices and the warmth of Sara’s bag” He probably should have a kip, he’ll need all his energy for the party.
1) He does hate being the enter of attention along with most social situations. While not inept in them like Kayla. They aren’t his thing for sure.
2) The classes have been established and what thats like. So just overviewed them as they weren’t narratively necessary for the days events. In the future i will go through classes here and there. Mixing in summarized classes and detailed classes.
2.2) Well he still is supposed to be learning as he is responsible to pass teh lsats and is enrolled. So he has to be paying a bit of attention.
2.3) Information is power as they say.
3) I like how you turn sara doing something good to a slight against her.
3.2) Controlling the flow of information is true power.
4) Well he coudl be on teh desk with a bunch of people looking at him or stealing glances or he could be in her bag which is a bit more private. Sara did accomadate him though she didn’t zip anything up. So he could still get out if he really needed too for some reason. He wasn’t confined or trapped which is mostly what he does’n’t like.
4.2) Sara also likes having Jordan around. Being she can’t see him would be a different feeling for her.
4.3) Well the petting is also part of his job as her therapy little. It would be a de-stressor
5.1) He’ll be responsible for hte material but he doesn’t need to be at her desk. Being in her bag would be similar he will stil have to do the material he is assigned. Kind of like college.
5.2) Well if she could interchangeably choose she probably would.
6) Ellie rules and Jordan rules are different. You said it yourself.
6.2) Chloe is going to Chloe
7.1) Well its nothing to Chloe when you own the companies that mostly make and distribute it. Its basically free for her to take.
7.2) He is. Its not like Sara was upset or taking it from him. She was jsut acknowledging that he probably had something tucked away somewhere.
8) He doesn’t do the homework at school. He is still listening just from her bag and instead of the desk. Its friday, so she is letting him chill. Sara can be nice and giving.
9) Kelli bumming about at home.
10) Well they do have vials of stuff around as it is science class doing a experiment. HE could knock other matrials over like. I remember in school we had tiny cubes of sugar for one experiment. Which jordan could knock over.
11) I was more thinking height. As coffe cup is 3 to 4 inches tall which is 7.6 to 10.16 centimeters. So thats in Jordan range.
12) yeah it was a very Kayla answer of trying to be nice and kind but the message not hitting how she thinks it does.
13) Literatue and English class are different. English focuses more on grammer of english. So while they do read books and stuff its more for writing and reporting of it. Where literature is more about the discussion of the book. Atleast thats how its broke down in the schools i’ve been to in the states. Im not sure if its different overseas.
14) I agree. Math would be horribel to watch someone do. The only thing worse then watching someone do math is actually having to do it yourself.
15) I assume a kip is a nap based on the context. He will definately need energy for the party.
2.1) I see
2.2) I’m curious to see how that goes.
2.3) What are they worried about? A Little uprising? They’re Littles, how up could they possibly rise?
3.1) It’s not like she hasn’t restricted his internet before, I’d hardly call stopping doing something mean too good of a thing.
4.1) better than her usual.
4.2) She’s stuffed him in her purse and pocket before.
4.3) Indeed
5.1) I doubt he’ll do too well.
5.2) Well yeah, if we could switch out the moment things started going bad we all would.
6.1) Agreed, one of the core themes of my writing Little Dayton is how much better of a guardian Sara could be.
6.2) and we love her for it.
7.1) I hope she keeps his pantry well stocked.
10) I think he’s smart enough not to though.
11) Lol, my conversions were off, that does seem like average height.
13) In my school it was all just “English class”
14) I’d actually prefer to do the maths over watch someone else.
15) Sorry, I didn’t realise Americans didn’t have kips. Yes they’re naps, typically in places other than one’s own bed.
See this is what I don’t get if it was just young littles or Preema Tech littles that had their access restricted to the Littlenet that’d be one thing but all littles are a bit much IMO.
alot of countries in the real world do restrict access to the internet. Its not uncommon even if its much less common in most democratic nations to restrict on that level. .
we take for granted our freedom in the United States and especially our right to guns that keep us free. I worked in Europe, Asia, Russia with Mexicans and south Americans and it all has a similar but different threads. They either sacrifice freedom for something they think they are getting to feel better but don’t feel better or they like working with and in the USA because they love our freedoms that they can hear or experience a little bit working with us. The littles unfortunately are getting that from a giant government that wants to make their tiny slaves the dumb little animals they say they are.
Im not sure guns are the best example. As the right bare arms was originally introduced because the U.S. government at the time didn’t have a national guard or enough of a standing army. So the citizens in the event of an attack were called upon to actually fight as part of the standing army. Which is why the right was granted. As when called upon you were supposed to bring your own weapon. When the national guard was created it removed that need as American citizens are no longer expected to be called upon in that same way to fight literal wars. A person could argue a draft could happen by the government but even then you are no longer expected to bring your own weapon. It wasn’t intended for the way the law is used today which is basically commercial purposes and political rallying to further increase profits. As the types of weapons being sold are way overboard if the intent and purpose is just protecting yourself. A person doesn’t need a semi-automatic or fully automatic weapon for protection, or hunting, etc.
Its only allowed because companies lobby for it as they make a lot of money for enforcing a invalid interpretation is more important then the actual purpose behind the law and why it was written. The otherside also goes a bit to far and tries to prevent people from even buying handguns or rifles which is also a misinterpretation. But if its presented as an actual new law that people are deciding upon. As while I wouldn’t be fore it. Its less of an issue for me as then its up for discussion by the people and if it was voted in I would accept it. Which is different then purposefully misrepresenting an existing law.
But your overall point I do agree with that people do for granted the rights, laws luxuries that U.S. affords its people in comparison to other places in the world. While the u.s. isn’t perfect its not as bad as its made out to be either.
