Dusty Robinson-Archer is a 19 year old little registered to Miah Robinson. Despite losing his former height and status as a human to Smallara, he still hasn’t lost his fiery personality and willpower. Dusty is never afraid to speak his mind or put his emotions on his sleeve, feeling it’s important to make yourself heard with confidence rather than to let others do the talking for you.
However, despite this, Dusty struggles internally with the reality of his new life. Every day is a fight to come to terms with the fact that his whole future as a person was stripped away from him and that he now has to live life in the manner that Miah dictates. Not that Miah has been a bad guardian to him. On the contrary, after their first month of knowing each other, both started to see that the other had gaps that they could fill as a team. Despite that, though, Dusty now wrestles with the reality of his new body, his loss of independence, and the shifts in how people—especially his peers—see him.
Dusty is thoughtful and emotional, unafraid to express how he’s feeling, whether he’s hurting, angry, or just wants someone to listen. He’s still figuring out how to be vulnerable in a world that can be terrifying at his scale, but his openness and resilience speak louder than his size ever could. Even when things feel out of control, he holds on tight to what matters—his family, his identity, and his passions.
His family consists of his younger sister Evelyn and his parents Randall and Felicity. Currently, his father is struggling from throat cancer. When Dusty found out about his vulnerability to Smallara, it took a lot of arguing with his family, but eventually they relented, knowing when push comes to shove, Dusty always puts them above himself. During Dusty’s time with Miah, though, his fathers cancer has progressed to the point where treatments can no longer help. Knowing this, Dusty struggles with deep seated regret, thinking his choice for what was best cost him valuable final moments with his father. Thankfully to him, though, Miah is there for support, and willing to work on ways for Dusty to visit with his family
Before his reduction, Dusty lived for adrenaline—skateboarding, snowboarding, football, dirt biking, airsoft—anything with speed, risk, or a team. And even though those things feel far away now, that love for motion and energy still burns in him. These days, he’s also learning how to appreciate the smaller things—like Miah’s love for makeup tutorials or trashy TV shows—not because he has to, but because he’s willing to try.
He can be impulsive, sometimes letting his emotions push him into snapping or acting out—like the time he trashed his entire habitat in frustration—but underneath it all is someone trying to stay true to himself in a world that treats him like something else. Dusty might be tiny now, but his presence, his heart, and his stubbornness? Still full-sized.
I like that he gets a hyphenated name, rather than just having Miah’s surname.
Dusty and Miah’s relationship is great. It’s good he’s willing to try to bond with her over things she likes.
His family’s struggles are realistic and sad.
I like that he’s got his stubbornness nad fire within him.
You know I didn’t realize I was doing that until now with the last names lol
And yeah. Unfortunately Im pulling frim personal experiences. It’s the main reason I’m on the fence about a dedicated story for them. It’d be hard to distance myself from it emotionally
And I love dusty lol his stubbornness and lack of fear of hiding his opinion is something I wish I had
