Tom Wilkens was 39 and the only child to the Wilkens fruit & cannery business in Eastern Washington state. Its main money maker is red apples that are sold all over the world because the dry land and water brought in from the Columbia River makes it one of the best growing lands for fruit in general. Because of how large and tasty the Red apples are the Wilkens were able to sell them around the world for high prices that made the Wilkens family one of the richest family is the World. There apples & canned fruit & vegetables were shipped all over the world. Tom had a wife April and 17-year-old son Jay and his 7-year-old daughter Kristy. He was blessed Kids loved each other and his son always put his little sister first before dating or his friends even though he was from the family that took care of the three small towns that supported the large fruit and canning operation that was 90% of the employed towns citizens. The Wilkens family were always forward thinking and did everything they could to make the lives of their employees and their family’s happy because happy employees were loyal and would be there for the companies in bad times and good. With this family value in mind Toms dad made the first deal with the government to allow his Mexican migrant workers to stay in the US as green card holders in their own little part of a town next to the main apple orchard. The Forman for all the apple orchards was Jose, a man that went to school with Tom and was one of his best friends. Jose and his wife Mary & their twin 8-year-old girls Cindy & Jen would come over to Tom and his wife April’s house all the time. April was from a very wealthy family in Seattle that tom had been told to visit by his dad and it didn’t seem like they would hit it off because Tom may have been from one of the richest families in the world but he was raised as a small-town kid that loved wide open spaces. After a little while working on Tom April decided to take the plunge and ask Tom to marry her, thinking she could change him and get him to spend the money he will have that is just pilling up in banks because his family reinvests into there business and the towns, they don’t spend on expensive cars and houses in different countries like her family and her friend’s families did from the big city of Seattle. One of his best friends from college was an engineer and knew the business that Tom would inherit so when his friend Mike got a job at as a R & D engineer at young company called generitech he asked Tom if he could test out many of the new products they were making and if he liked them, he could buy them to make his companies more self-sufficient. As time went on, the Wilkens became steady customer for Generitech and because of the amount of the products they were trying out and most of the time buying.

Mike became the Head of sales and lead engineer for the Wilkens company contract that was one of the biggest of the company because Tom found a passion working with Mike to slowly but surly upgrade their many factories and tool and hardware in house manufactures. Eastern Washington had very hot and sunny spring and summers but very cold and snow and ice filled winters so it was a challenge to make the solar Panels and large battery storage units that could handle the extreme weather differences. In the spring and summer, they couldn’t get enough battery storage to keep up, but in the ice and snow time they still got power from the sun, just greatly diminished and the Panels would get iced over and snowed on which would stop the power flow. So, what they did was put in twice the number of storage battery’s they need to be able to keep the extra power from the summer and spring stored and then put small resistance wires thru all the Panels so if the temperature went below 40 degrees the system would put power into the wire creating heat thru the cords and melting. Tom and Mike were very excited with solving the issues that were holding them back on the power back up grid and setting up many systems around the surrounding small towns first. The next week after their big win, Mike knocked on Toms work door looking kind of flush.

Tom noticed right away and told Mike to sit down and asked what was wrong. Mike then started telling Tom about the outbreaks of smallara around the world and how its causing % of populations to turn is to tiny humans but they have completely different internal body organs. There biology seems to be similar to a small mammal in a tiny human’s body. It something we have never seen before. The Virus seems to affect the male population more than Females and the females seem to be around 6 inches tall most of the time and the males seem to be only 3 to 4 inches tall and very docile in the presence of a woman that has been affected. It fascinating and scary. It is like so quickly a large % of the world’s population has turned into small animal people. Mike then said he knows this much information because Generitech has decided to use it’s technical and company resources to help the transformed people they are calling littles and try to save as many as they can from the rioting, power struggles and just plain evil things that non infected people are doing to littles. It very sad how humans can treat other living creatures. As far as I know the US has halted travel from all countries to prevent the virus from making it to the mainland but the government knows it’s a matter of time so they are trying to come up with a plan if they can create a vaccine and if they can’t , what are they going to do with the littles and replace a large portion of their work force and population in general. Generitech has offered their services to the Government and is currently working on a cure, vaccine and a test to see who is vulnerable to the virus and who isn’t. That would help a lot in keeping vulnerable people safe if they change and also be able to plan ahead. I am hearing most of this second hand because most of the health stuff isn’t my department but I have been called into my old R & D job to come up with items that can make the littles life safe and normal as possible after the change. Tom looked at Mike after hearing the unbelievable news that sounded right out of a movie and the only thing he was thinking was how could he save his towns and down size the business to meet the massive hit to food demand there will be. Mike, I think like everything we have done in the past, I will need your help to save the towns that my company’s look after and I would like to set up a Generitech 2 person design and Fab building that I would pay all set up expenses that you would run and the second employee would be from one of my fab shops that I own and would be a Generitech approved employee that I would pay for and you could use our little town as a secret testing area because nobody will come out in the middle of nowhere for information. As you know money isn’t an option. Tell your boss yes to any price and tell him whatever you come up with to protect the future littles of our towns I hope will be a united venture through you of course Mike and we will test and buy all your functional equipment. In fact, as you know we have been hording money for over 70 years and this seems like an emergency to start spending because as far as I know, you or me or one of my family could get infected so please tell your boss I am willing to spend whatever it takes to support your company to deal with this world changing event. I feel like I am on the clock to get a plan going that will deal with a large amount of our population being turned into littles and the impacts It’s going to have on family’s. I am going to get with Jose and come up with a plan to save our towns and downsize the company. I will need to get him and I a lot of our company’s high end hard cyder to deal with this world changing event. The good thing is we just need to focus on our little part of the world and not the rest of the world. At least right now. I am guessing because of the large loss of male population the food production will take a big hit until they can find replacements for the people that turned into littles. We have stockpiles of canned food that lasts for many years and we can start to sell but I think we will wait till the US gets hit and see if our government needs our help for food in the future until jobs of littles can be filled in. Since I really only know the size of the littles, I will work on making a place that fits a 7 inch person so there is a lot of room and is protected from all the wildlife we have around here big and small because at that size they are prey to even mice so protection will be my first design stage , the second will be 3d printing some starter building designs at our fab shops in town that support our maintenance teams. I will wait to get more info from you before I do anything else other then basic town building like utility’s, heat and water.
Tom and Jose brought in Mike to their new town planning meeting so they could quickly start the little town next to Toms house first and then will plan the tear down and removal of the newer parts of the human towns and start to build them in a large square around Toms house with a large strip of field between them on the old orchard.
The plan for the new towns were made and now Jose would organize the available workers to start tearing down Wilkens business first before he can inform the towns of the coming virus first then make sure Tom has a plan for all the small towns supporting the company and will be sharing details after he gets some emergency prep done.
Tom got with the local cerement company and ordered 3 30 foot by 10 foot concreate pads with local carbon fiber left overs from sheet production mixed in for strength. He also added a sprayed-on sealer. He had two of his family farm handy men with him with 12 6 foot stainless posts to attach roofs to and 2 boxes of Titanium screws that match the Generitech hardware they would be installing to the current and future little towns.
After having the 3 concreate pads poured in line with the large back deck of the Wilkens house, Tom and is men placed the roof posts and screws in their designed places. Tom installed the 3d printed houses the had made for one pad that had 5 bed rooms and a master bedroom to accommodate the large families of the area typically 3 kids, some times 4 being a farming area. He cleaned the area and put epoxy liquid nails glue on the bottom of the houses to perfectly seal the strong Titanium 3D printed houses that will never rust in place. They then put a 2-inch layer of rich soil over the House part of the pad for future landscape and gardens. After the soil was put on, Tom and his guys finished the Roof of the first pad and then sent a Email to Mike that the first little town is ready for Generitech to install their latest solar Pannels and storage batteries on the pad with a renewable water system they thought would work best. He also asked Mike to put a small digital phone in every house through the hinged locked side of the house and to set up a satellite internet service everyone in the little town could hook up to by Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and make sure the crews made everything installed easy to upgrade to the newest models for testing and replacement. Tom sat on his back porch and looked at the start of the new little town and possible expansion sites if needed and felt good that at least the affected population of his town would have a place to live while the remaining town humans kept building the new combined towns around the Wilkens property that holds the little town behind it with a 10 foot animal fence at the back of the town to sperate it from the Wilkens property and then a another fence giving the Wilkens house with the littles town a extra layer of protection with a 8 foot animal fence. Tom had ordered the rest of the community building to be 3d printed to finish out the little town after Generitech installed all their equipment tomorrow. He then took a deep breath a swig of his hard apple Cyder and went into his house to have a family meeting like I am sure all the families of the towns were having on how they will be going to deal with the coming virus not knowing who was going to be affected. Tom and April sat at one side of the table and their kids Jay and Kristy sat on the other side. The Tom started talking, alright today’s family meeting is I am guessing are strangest but most important. You all have been seeing all the work I have been doing around the house and Jose and his guys have been doing in the distance. I gave you all a quick over view but now we need to talk specifics. There is a virus that has already been out in many parts of the world call the smallara virus, it has been infecting large amounts of the population around the world, a larger % are male but still females are affected. The virus changes people into small humans that for females are about 6 inches tall and for males its around 3 to 4 inches tall. Their body’s look human but their insides are not human, first reports say they act and have abilities like small animals. This is a 6 inch and a 3-inch dolls that I grabbed from Kristy’s room to give you an idea of what we are looking at. I am not sure who is going to be turned little when the virus hits our part of the world but If one of you kids are human and the other is little then the human kid will make taking care of their brother or sister a priority even over any one you might marry and of course is if your mother and I become littles the same goes for us, We might be able to give you some advice on how to take care of the family business you would have to run because of course we would be too little. If your mother or I are human, we will take care of who ever is a little for ever also. My friend Mikes company is working on many things to fight the virus and help people who became littles and who ever out of us that is left human will work closely with Mike and the company he works for because they are a kind company that stopped much of their stuff to battle this virus so we will work through Mike to give them any help they need in our little far away part of the world. I know its scary because we don’t know what is going to happen to us but we all love each other and have a strong family so we will protect and love each other no matter who ends up human and in charge. We many have the little city in our back yard for the people that turn little in the towns that we support and support us but I grabbed some old fish tanks and put them on the table and put some California king beds we 3d printed out for the little town and put 2 in each tank with little printed out blankets and doll furniture and pillows I grabbed from Kristy’s doll houses, so we will remain under our family’s Care always. We also still have a lot of money in our business and personal accounts if something comes up that we need to pay for to protect the family or our little town. Kristy grabbed the 6 inch doll and started looking at it and started acting like it was walking and jumping. Then Kristy said, if I become like one of my dolls, I think it would be fun because I know Jay would play with me and I could play with all my dolls and their stuff like it was a real world. I can’t wait now; it sounds like I could even play dolls with my friends but I would be a living doll. That would be sooo fun. “I am glad you are giving it a positive spin Kristy. I am praying we are all safe and happy because this is truly the calm before the storm” Tom said.
I found it all very confusing, tiring, it’s not the size of the text but the text itself. I couldn’t read everything, I ended up skipping a lot of things to see what was at the end and it wasn’t great.
thanks for your review, ill admit I am a technical writer not a very good story writer but their are good people on here that encourage me. I was trying to make this chapter as set up chapter and also trying to follow the time line and chapters of lore before. The next chapter will be where smallara hits and it will read more like the reality shows my wife got me hooked on lol. I will continue to try to get better but not clog up fan stories site buy only putting stuff out when really inspired like I was with little town chapter. Again thank you for your honest take. Cant get better at something if you don’t know what you are doing wrong=)
