“You smell so good. The scent is supposed to last three weeks so we will have to go back every couple weeks. Get you a bath and I can get a blowout.” Evan said so matter of fact that there was no room for her to argue.
The lack of agency or power was hard to adjust to. Charity’s mind drifted back to the doctor’s office where they were seeing a doctor for her shots and microchip as the replacement procedure required seeing a specialist as opposed to Evan’s regular doctor. Charity had asked about seeing her own doctor. However, Evan refused her the ability of seeing her own doctor. She had been told a little doesn’t have their own doctor. They see their guardian’s doctor. As much as it bothered Charity she still recognized it as a step up from the vet she had seen a few weeks ago.
Charity sat anxiously on the cool, sterile examination table, its vast expanse covered in crisp, white paper that crinkled loudly beneath her slightest movements. The clinical aroma of antiseptic and alcohol wipes stung her sensitive nostrils, reinforcing the cold sterility of the room. Bright overhead lights hummed softly, casting stark illumination that rendered her diminutive form even more exposed and vulnerable. Her small legs dangled helplessly over the edge of the table, her feet swinging nervously, highlighting the overwhelming difference in scale.
Nearby, Evan Kingsley reclined comfortably in a cushioned chair, her slender legs casually crossed at the ankles, one hand effortlessly scrolling through her glittery pink phone. Despite her youthful appearance, Evan exuded unmistakable confidence and control. Charity found it almost surreal, just weeks earlier, she had barely acknowledged Evan, dismissing her as nothing more than a child. Now, Evan was her guardian, the one holding absolute authority over every aspect of her life.
The door opened quietly, and Dr. Holland, Evan’s regular doctor entered with a reassuring, professional smile. Tall and slender, her dark hair meticulously arranged into a tight bun, she adjusted her sleek, rimless glasses as her eyes scanned the clipboard she carried.
“Good afternoon, Evan,” the doctor greeted warmly, settling onto a stool across from them. “How are you feeling today?”
“Fine,” Evan replied nonchalantly, briefly looking up from her phone. “Although my sugars were off this morning. I might’ve forgotten my insulin last night.”
The doctor’s brow furrowed, a crease forming above her glasses. “We’ve discussed this, Evan. Consistency with your insulin is crucial. Even small oversights can cause your blood sugar to crash, lethargy, confusion, even collapse. You can’t afford to take chances.”
Charity, perched stiffly on the waxy paper of the oversized exam table, froze. Her tiny hands clutched the hem of her doll-sized skirt as she tried to process the information. Evan? Diabetic?
It was a strange jolt. Evan Kingsley, bossy, smug, practically glowing with entitlement, wasn’t supposed to be vulnerable. And yet here she was, scolded by a doctor, her medical condition laid bare like anyone else’s. A strange sensation curled in Charity’s stomach. Not quite sympathy, not quite pity. Something… complicated.
“I know,” Evan muttered with a roll of her eyes. “I just forgot, okay? I’ll be better about it.”
Dr. Holland nodded, but the warning lingered in the air like the antiseptic sting clinging to every surface of the room. Then her gaze turned to Charity. It softened a degree, though her tone was still firm. “Charity, this matters. Evan’s condition can become serious fast. Now, I know your size limits what you can do, but Evan will carry glucose tabs with her. If she starts acting strange, slurred speech, dazed, shaky, you need to get her to take one. They’ll be in a pink capsule keychain. Easy to open.”
Charity blinked, the weight of that responsibility pressing into her like a stone. At five and a half inches tall, the idea of helping someone hundreds of times her mass seemed absurd. But still, her pulse fluttered with a faint, reluctant sense of duty. She nodded solemnly. “I understand.”
“Now that you have a little Evan. Its important you start the bonding process with her. I reviewed her data it doesn’t appear any kind of bonding process has started. Their are various neurological and chemical reactions that occur in a little when bonded or starting to bond that aren’t present.” Dr. Holland said before looking at Charity.
“Now Charity, you will notice a scent when Evan’s glucose drops. It’s something your new Little olfactory detects. Those are your cues to notify Evan or the people around her that she needs to eat something or get an injection. Basically a intervention needs to occur. Evan is your guardian now and as her little this is your responsibility.
Charity nodded understanding that she had a responsibility. It was the first time since being a little that she had an actual duty. Not a chore, not a task given but an actual responsibility. She hated that it felt good. That she found herself relieved that she could be of use. This was the same girl who just had Brie a junior stylist cut her meticulously groomed hair. Now she had a role to play in this world still and she hated that it felt good. That Evan was providing her with a purpose she never got with Alejandra.
“You will notice as your bond increases oxytocin driven dependency triggers will start occurring. Charity will develop comfort not only around you but to your scent and touch. Closeness to you will be relaxing and pleasing to her. So, when your glucose level drops, she will not only smell it but recognize the biological change often before you have any symptoms or signs of things being wrong. So it’s important that you pay attention to what your little is trying to tell you Evan.
Evan’s eyebrows lifted with interest. “Wait, so she’s like, biologically wired to take care of me now?” Her voice lilted with surprise and a note of glee. “That’s kind of amazing.”
She leaned forward slightly, her gaze drifting to Charity in her lap. “So she can smell when my sugar’s off? Like a tiny little glucose detector?”
Her smile widened. “That’s actually… kind of cute.” She paused, then added, a little more seriously, “But also kinda scary. Guess I really do need her.”
Then, as if remembering the doctor’s words more seriously, she nodded. “Okay. I’ll watch for it. If she gets all fidgety or clingy or whatever, I’ll know something’s up.”
She looked down and gave Charity’s hair an affectionate stroke, her tone softening slightly. “Guess that makes us a team, huh?”
To Evan, it was a perk, a feature of owning a Little. But to Charity, it was something else entirely. Something deeper. Something binding.
Biologically wired to care for Evan.
Her, Charity Stevens. Volleyball captain. Former honor roll student. Former human being with a schedule, a voice, a scent she chose for herself.
Now, she was being discussed like a device. Like some kind of designer dog bred to sense seizures or emotional breakdowns. Worse, she could already feel the truth of it in her chest, how her body had started to quiet when Evan’s fingers brushed her hair, how the scent of Evan’s shampoo no longer repulsed her the way it used to.
God, was her body already responding?
Her fists clenched, the scent of cherry vanilla rising faintly from her own skin, proof of how much had already been rewritten.
She looked up at Evan, who was now grinning like this was the best news all day. Like getting a micro-sized glucose alarm with glitter and cute outfits.
Charity’s breath hitched. The worst part wasn’t the humiliation. It wasn’t even the dependency.
It was the fear.
Because what if this wasn’t all conditioning?
What if, in some horrible, irreversible way, her body really was starting to like being near Evan?
The conversation drifted on, but Charity hardly heard it. Her gaze flicked to Evan’s hand resting on the armrest, casual, painted nails glinting in the clinical light, the same fingers that had plucked her up like a prize, petted her hair, adjusted her towel like she was something precious.
Her skin still buzzed faintly where Brie had scrubbed her. But it was something else now too. A phantom echo where Evan’s thumb had grazed the side of her arm moments ago. The touch lingered.
Closeness to you will be relaxing and pleasing to her, the doctor had said.
Was that what this was?
Charity’s lips pressed into a line, her shoulders rising as if she could push the thought out by sheer tension alone. Oxytocin-driven dependency triggers. The phrase sounded like something from a psychology textbook, clinical, sterile, scientific.
But it wasn’t sterile. It was her, and she could feel it, subtle, quiet, frightening.
She thought of Alejandra.
Weeks in her home. Fed. Bathed. Even tucked in once. And yet, not once had Charity felt that same involuntary pull. Alejandra had been kind, at times even maternal. But the bond… it had never rooted. It stayed surface-level, brittle. Like she’d always been trying to survive it.
With Evan, she’d barely lasted a single afternoon before her body began to betray her.
Why?
She hated the question the moment it formed.
Was it the proximity? The attention? Or something more insidious, some cruel lottery of biology and brain chemistry? Had her DNA drawn a losing number in the compatibility deck?
She blinked down at her hands, tiny and trembling in her lap, and suddenly the idea of bonding felt less like a process and more like a parasite. Something was threading itself into her, making her comfort itself into the shape Evan wanted.
Not because Evan deserved it.
Because her body believed she did.
And that… that was worse than collaring. Worse than scented baths. Worse than being brushed and styled and spoken over.
It meant her fight could be taken from the inside.
Evan glanced down, her eyes flicking from her phone to the tiny figure on the exam table. Without a word, she reached over and scooped Charity into her palm, settling her into her lap like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Charity’s breath hitched as her body shifted as the warmth of Evan’s palm seeped into her like sun through frosted glass, filtered, unwanted, but undeniably present., gravity pulling her inward toward the warmth of Evan’s abdomen beneath her shirt. The rise and fall of the girl’s stomach was soft, rhythmic, almost… lulling. Evan’s other hand came down instinctively, her thumb tracing an idle circle along Charity’s back.
It should’ve been irritating, patronizing, infantilizing, wrong. And it was.
But it was also something else.
Charity felt it creeping up her spine, a faint, magnetic warmth that spread outward from the place Evan’s skin touched hers. Not comforting, not really. Not in any way she wanted. But in the way her body wanted. The tension in her shoulders slackened just slightly, her eyes fluttering before snapping open again in horror.
No.
She didn’t want to be soothed. She didn’t want her pulse to slow, or her breathing to match Evan’s. But her body, so small, so rewired, was cooperating anyway. Responding like she was a child curling into a parent. Like a living system trying to survive in the only way it still could.
Evan didn’t notice. She just smiled and continued chatting with the doctor, her hand shifting now to stroke Charity’s hair.
And again, there it was. That faint pull. Like the calm that precedes sleep. A suggestion of safety that hadn’t been earned.
Charity clenched her jaw, forcing her limbs to stiffen, to reject the comfort, but the signal didn’t fully reach them. Her body remained pliant in Evan’s lap, her nerves confused. Her scent still carried Evan’s soap from earlier, the faintest trace of cherry vanilla lingering in the fabric of the girl’s hoodie.
It wasn’t trust.
It was biology.
Compatibility, the doctor had said. A match. A pairing that worked on a neurological level. As involuntary as scent, as deep as instinct. Evan and Charity’s signatures matched just enough to trigger the start of it.
Charity had always thought of herself as resistant. Defiant. But maybe Alejandra had just been incompatible. An awkward pairing. Wrong fit, wrong rhythm. And now, with Evan…
Now, her defenses were being tested. Quietly. In the silence between words. In the rhythm of a heartbeat that wasn’t hers.
She closed her eyes again, this time not from peace, but strategy. Because if this was real, if her body was going to do this, then she needed to know. She needed to understand the signals. The patterns. What triggered the bond. What reinforced it.
Dr. Holland studied her a beat longer, then turned back to Evan. “I reviewed the scans from the Microchip you had implanted earlier and noticed her vocal chords are partially malformed. We can setup a corrective procedure. Its fairly simple it can happen from time to time with littles during the transformation process their body goes under when infected.”
Evan glanced down at Charity, her lips curling. “Nope. She hasn’t earned that yet. I kind of like her like this. Keeps her humble.”
Charity’s face flushed. Her fingers twitched against the paper sheet beneath her, its sterile crinkle amplifying her silence. The injustice burned, her voice, reduced to a whim. An indulgence to be revoked or restored at Evan’s pleasure.
Before she could process it further, a familiar sound chimed. Evan’s phone vibrated against the chair’s faux-leather armrest. She perked up, unlocking the screen with a flick of her pink acrylic coated thumb.
“Hey, Mads!” Evan chirped, instantly brighter, her earlier cold dismissal of the surgery forgotten as her friend’s face lit up the screen. “Guess who’s getting her Little checkup?”
The camera panned as Evan angled the phone toward the edge of the table. Charity felt the lens find her, even before Madison spoke. Her skin prickled as the spotlight of attention returned.
Onscreen, Madison Wessen’s image came into focus polished as always, curled blonde hair framing a sharp smirk. Behind her, a glimpse of their elegant family living room: pale marble flooring, airy drapes, artfully cluttered with designer throws and expensive taste. Madison squinted, then let out a delighted gasp.
“Oh. My. God. Is that Charity Stevens?”
Charity stiffened. There was no warmth in the tone, only sugary mockery.
“It is,” Evan replied proudly, beaming. “Doesn’t feel real yet, having her all mine.”
Madison’s mouth dropped open in theatrical shock. “The girl who once tried to have Brooklyn banned from the country club for ‘misusing facility privileges’ now was sitting on a pad at the doctor’s office earlier. Now parked in Evan’s lap. Life is so poetic.”
Charity looked down. Her cheeks burned hotter than before. Every word, every sneer, hit like static beneath her skin. There was no recourse, no comeback. Not with a throat that couldn’t raise itself above a whisper. Not with her feet dangling helplessly above the floor.
Madison leaned closer to the camera, the screen distorting her into something almost surreal. “She still got that annoying fake perfume thing she used to wear? Or did you have her washed down?”
Evan laughed. “She just got her first full scent treatment today, cherry vanilla. Supposed to last three weeks. We’ll go back soon for touch-ups. I’m thinking she and I can go together, she gets her soak, I get a blowout.”
Charity flinched. This was going to be her smell. Evan was going to have her permanently wrapped in Cherry Vanilla.
“I am obsessed,” Madison said, drawing out the word. “Wait, hang on, Mom! Come look!”
Another face slid into frame, more composed, more dangerous. Cindy Wessen’s presence overtook the call with ease. Cool toned makeup, slicked-back hair, an oversized cream sweater that suggested effortless status.
“Well,” Cindy said, her voice buttery, almost maternal. “She looks adorable, Evan. You’ve done well. Not everyone’s first Little lands them such a high profile catch.”
Charity’s stomach knotted.
“Thanks, Ms. Wessen,” Evan replied, sitting up straighter under the compliment. “I’ve been trying to do everything right.”
Cindy smiled, warmly at first, but there was calculation behind her eyes, like a chess player already four moves ahead. “It’s clear she’s responding to structure. That’s the key. Remember: cute doesn’t mean compliant. You don’t want her charming her way around rules.”
“I’ve got some rules,” Evan said brightly. “Bedtime. Mealtimes. No sass.”
Cindy’s smile tightened. “That’s a good start. But the important thing is enforcement. Littles like Charity come from structured environments, academic, corporate, high control. When they lose that structure, they panic. They test. They defy.”
Charity’s eyes flicked upward. Her jaw tensed.
Cindy’s voice lowered, like a private tip just for Evan. “Isolation is effective. Silence reinforces power hierarchies. Remove privileges early and often. And if that’s not enough? The new collars have built-in correction functions. Discreet, programmable. You don’t have to raise your voice, you just press a button.”
Evan nodded slowly, absorbing it. Her eyes flicked down to Charity again, gaze thoughtful, clinical. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
Madison was still grinning. “You’ve got her. Now break her in.”
Charity sat frozen, the white paper beneath her wrinkling in her clenched fists. They were talking about her like she wasn’t even there. Or rather, as if she was there, but only as something to mold. To display. To train.
“Structure is everything,” Cindy added with a smile. “It keeps her small in all the right ways.”
Evan giggled and tilted the phone back toward herself. “Thanks, guys. Seriously. This is… kinda perfect.”
“You smell just like I imagined. You’re gonna be the coziest thing in my room.” she added, flicking a strand of Charity’s hair. “I can hardly wait for Brie to give you your next one. This scent is going to be your signature. Plus, I’ll get a blowout. I love a good blowout”
Charity said nothing. Her throat tightened around the words she no longer trusted to hold meaning.
She glanced over to the corner of the room where Evan had set her purse. Through the mesh of the glittery side pocket, she could just make out the faint pink glint of the glucose capsule keychain. That was her job now. Be watchful. Be helpful. Be silent.
She turned her eyes back toward Evan who had resumed chatting now with Dr. Holland about upcoming school events and insulin schedules, and she realized something new. Evan might have all the power. But she also had weaknesses. Things she couldn’t control. Needs that had to be met.
If there was a crack in Evan’s armor, Charity would find it. Not with rebellion. Not with rage. But with the quiet study of someone who no longer believed in mercy, only leverage.

Evan, being diabetic, was certainly unexpected, and that ending was ominous, like Charity is planning to let something happen to Evan just to gain some measure of control over her, which is totally something she would do.
The little doing diabetic & other medical warning like dogs can is a smart move. Another way to use little werewolf powers to make them more valuable.
I agree you could also make them help immune people who are blind or deaf.
She was depicted as diabetic in Madison’s world but it was only talked about for a chapter when she interacted with the parents.
I wanted to bring it up again here as it’s part of her character and something she has to live with. It’s part of what makes her unique.
Evan being diabetic was established in Madison’s World though.
I aslo liked the ending
Oh damn why does this feel like some game of thrones show where one character has some leverage and the other also has leverage it’s crazy
Charity being responsible for Evan diabetes and Evan fully responsible for her and that ending man charity seems like she won’t go down without a fight which is both good and bad but damn it why can’t we just get to the redemption, everyone’s happy and smiles and no sense of dread like damn lol
Fun to see Cindy again can’t wait to see how Charity reacts after she turns out to be a little to
I think I like dr holland already
Overall this was good
This part has been more positive and redemption like then anything depicted in the story so far. Its more positive then alejandra section.
Fair point
Wow Cindy’s real deserve what it coming for her she need to be used is ass plug and stay in it all day or Hanging by chains in the public toilet.
Cindy is not a good person.

What do you guys think?
well….I was starting to think that Charity isn’t the little that Evan was taking to track and whatnot, but now that I see how easily Evan seems to be swayed by Madison and Cindy, I’m thinking otherwise.
Still, Mark probably has to step in at some point, right? If he really is keeping a promise, he should be checking on Charity and her wellness and reminding evan of his expectation on how to treat her. But I think that part hinges on Mark being a trained guardian. I think that will make him less susceptible to Cindy
You also dont know how much interaction mark has with cindy. Just beacuse their kids are friendly doesn mean he interacts with cindy any more then in passing and short exchanges. Its not like its depicted where they are goign on vacations together or something.
I also think its stil the early days all Evan really said was she had some structure planned. Which any little should have. If she has clear rules, structures, etc. that would only be appropriate as it sets expectations.
That’s true. A big part of me expects Mark to be a bit more involved than other parents have been, even including Kayla and Kelli’s parents, just cause Mark made it seem what Charity’s dad did was a very very huge help to him, at least that’s how I read into it
A) the first part of the chapter is what I have been waiting for, the power of the bond. I think charity using the bond to keep Evan healthy is perfect job for a very industrious charity.
B)I was also waiting for the belly hug. such a easy and open warm spot. Should be used often if there is access.
C)I think the need for charity to be against Evans skin is good for both of them. I will calm and give each of them a feeling of wholeness.
D) now more then ever I think Madison needs to bond to Cindy to allow Madison to make her less evil.
E) Seeing the influence that Cindy and Madison have on Evan is scary but I’m hoping Charity will play up their bond and make it stronger to protect herself from being passed around because she could tell Evan she cant be moved around the community because her job as her sugar monitor is to important to her health.
F) I wounder if Charity will have time under her belt being a little when Cindy changes and Cindy is put under Charity’s rule for training. We would see Drill Sargent Little Charity at work lol. Charity could meet and beat Cindy in the will department lol.
G) I hope we see more Guardian bonding used to break the will of Littles for the greater good of the pairing =)
H) I think Brooklyn might be a problem in the future because Charity got her kicked out of somewhere.
a) It has potential as it gives charity a purpose. However, it only works if Charity is with Evan when she is out and about. that has yet to be seen is how Charity’s day to day lige will look like longterm.
b)It would depend how affectionate they are with each other.
c) I dont think its a need. As she can live without it.
d) Its yet to be seen how evil madison really is. As all that has been depicted of Madison is her doing things to her mother that her mother endorsed and believed in.
E) Being that Charity doesnt like the bonding. Its doubtful she would play it up willingly.
F) Its yet to be depicted how Charity fits into the community. This is years before it even happens.
G)So for we haven’t seen anything that maliscious.
H) It depends how Brooklyn feels.
A) why wouldn’t Evan have her little with her all the time, she has one of if not the cutest little to show off as a asset and a medical device that makes her life a lot easier. I would be like not having your iPhone. my wife and I would go into shock without our iPhone lol.
B) I seems like littles need affection like any other mammal even charity so as the bond grows stronger their affectionate would grow also.
C) Its something she would feel better with like a little pet.
D) I think Madison is starting to break away from her mothers evil teachings with her dad and sisters support. I think Madison wants to be good to littles but needs to mold her mom to be like her instead of Madison being like her mom.
E) i think as the bond gets stronger, she with embrace the good vibes from the contact.
F) it will give charity time to understand and enjoy being a Alpha in little society and having Evan buy charity her own little boy mate to dominate in a relationship and have him do jobs she doesn’t want to. Girl boss to little Wife boss lol.
G) I don’t think Its bad, just a way for a dominate creature to influence a lesser creature to make them obedient and happier. happens all the time with Moms and kids and that is what guardians and littles are.
H) I don’t know enough to know if she holds grudges that long, our will fall in the face of charity’s ultimate cuteness lol.
D) Madison seems conflicted at times. She seems like she thinks she owes it to her mother to make sure she is a proper Little. The others in the community seem to be sold on Cindy’s teachings. McKensie is their best hope. not only does she have a different POV, she is essentially in charge of the household.
A) the only depicted guardian who really takes there little everywhere is Sara. Every other guardian depicted is somewhere between always at home and Sara who has Jordy with her almost always.
You also ahve to consider that most people in this world view littles as pets. So it would be like taking your dog everywhere you go. While some people will do that. Most wont.
B) Well tehy dont need affection any more or less then they did before. HOw much affection a person wants or needs is very different and unique to each person.
C) I do think that is very subjective. As some people like cat or dog in their lap or holding them others dont like there pets crawling over htem or holding them. Its very much how that person feels. I don’t think its a one stop shop situation. Where there are guardians who do want to be all touchy feely. Where others may not.
D) Madison has always been consistent in her view that she wanted a japanese little specifically and she is raising her mother through the teaching methods her mother preached, fought, instituted and believed in to honor her mother. That has always been Madison’s stance when it come to cindy.
Anything beyond that is peoples own interpretation and reading waht they want to read into Madison’s character. However officially that is her stance and belief set she is written from.
I do find it interesting how people interpret that to having such a fundamaental know how of her belief set when what Madison truly thinks and believes hasn’t been articulated beyond the things she is doing for her mother.
While a person could draw some conclusions as their are moments its depicted and stated she has strayed away form her mothers teachings insiuating that it was just ot much for her. Canonically what Madison believes, wants or desires hasn’t been explored that deeply. Other places people could get idea’s from is her treatment of Greg.
E) Perhpaps, that certainly could happen.
F) In theory Trina would be the alpha in the little society based on what we know so far. But Trina and Charity haven’t been depicted together before. ALl we know is Trina is leader of the little society they are building.
G) I dont think its necessarily bad or am opposed to it. Just we haven’t explored to much of it. Sara a person could argue uses it to her advantage.
H) Its also not stated how upset brooklyn really is over it.Shey may not have cared that much. Its also not stated if it was just for that day or if it was some other length of time.
D) you have passages in the story where Madison questions if she is doing the right thing with her mother (I’d have to go research to get the exact episodes), but eventually concludes that her mother’s teachings are the right path. She also confides to her friends how difficult it is to discipline her mother, but then either they or Madison remark on how Cindy is a Little now and that is the proper thing to do.
0) Sorry I’m late, absolute shithouse of a day.
1) “The lack of agency or power was hard to adjust to” it would be, but Charity had her time with Ale to prepare.
2) “Charity sat anxiously on the cool, sterile examination table, its vast expanse covered in crisp, white paper that crinkled loudly beneath her slightest movements” oh, another time skip/
3) “Despite her youthful appearance, Evan exuded unmistakable confidence and control.” she was the “leader” of their friend group, if I remember correctly
4) “The door opened quietly, and Dr. Holland, Evan’s regular doctor entered with a reassuring, professional smile” As much as I’d have liked to see Dr Wilson again, it makes more sense if they don’t all see the same Doctor.
5) “A strange sensation curled in Charity’s stomach. Not quite sympathy, not quite pity. Something… complicated.” But those are things she’s never felt before
6) “I know, I just forgot, okay? I’ll be better about it.” Maybe Charity can help her. I’d love to see a Little do an injection ro a human
7) “Charity, this matters. Evan’s condition can become serious fast. Now, I know your size limits what you can do, but Evan will carry glucose tabs with her. If she starts acting strange, slurred speech, dazed, shaky, you need to get her to take one. They’ll be in a pink capsule keychain. Easy to open.” I was mostly joking about getting charity involved, but damn.
8) “her pulse fluttered with a faint, reluctant sense of duty. She nodded solemnly” she’s learning to care.
9) “Now that you have a little Evan. Its important you start the bonding process with her. I reviewed her data it doesn’t appear any kind of bonding process has started” interesting, so not even kinda bonded to Alejandra?
10.1) “Now Charity, you will notice a scent when Evan’s glucose drops. It’s something your new Little olfactory detects” If dogs can do that so can littles/
10.2) “Evan is your guardian now and as her little this is your responsibility.” honestly not a bad job for a Little.
11) “So it’s important that you pay attention to what your little is trying to tell you Evan.” listening to Littles saves lives, Dr Holland said so.
12) “she’s like, biologically wired to take care of me now?” not yet, not until the bond forms.
13) “Alejandra had been kind, at times even maternal. But the bond… it had never rooted. It stayed surface-level, brittle. Like she’d always been trying to survive it” It’s fascinating to see it’s not automatic, especially with how quickly it’s forming with Evan.
14) “Something was threading itself into her, making her comfort itself into the shape Evan wanted”. That’s a good way to put it.
15) “She didn’t want to be soothed. She didn’t want her pulse to slow, or her breathing to match Evan’s. But her body, so small, so rewired, was cooperating anyway. Responding like she was a child curling into a parent. Like a living system trying to survive in the only way it still could.” that’s horrifying, stop making me feel bad for Charity, I don’t want to.
16) “Evan and Charity’s signatures matched just enough to trigger the start of it.” New aspect to the bond is cool.
17) “But maybe Alejandra had just been incompatible. An awkward pairing. Wrong fit, wrong rhythm” Imagine spending 30K – 50K on a little just to find out you can’t (or will struggle to) bond with them. Imagine if it were a spouse or loved one that you had a deep conection with before infection, that’d be so tragic.
18) “Nope. She hasn’t earned that yet. I kind of like her like this. Keeps her humble.” Damn you Evan, you were seeming so good, (though this is closer to what Charity deserves)
19) ““Oh. My. God. Is that Charity Stevens?” Madison knew Charity? Did they all? how?
20) “The girl who once tried to have Brooklyn banned from the country club for ‘misusing facility privileges” that could have consequences.
21) “She still got that annoying fake perfume thing she used to wear?” Evan not liking Charity’s sent is gonna sting for her.
22) “Cindy Wessen’s presence overtook the call with ease. Cool toned makeup, slicked-back hair, an oversized cream sweater that suggested effortless status” I was hoping to see pre-shrunk Cindy.
23) “Remember: cute doesn’t mean compliant. You don’t want her charming her way around rules.” Good advice and not just for Littles.
24) “I’ve got some rules, Bedtime. Mealtimes. No sass.” the first two make sense, the last is vague and subjective.
25) “Littles like Charity come from structured environments, academic, corporate, high control. When they lose that structure, they panic. They test. They defy.” she knows her shit, I’ll give her that.
26) “Isolation is effective. Silence reinforces power hierarchies. Remove privileges early and often. And if that’s not enough? The new collars have built-in correction functions. Discreet, programmable. You don’t have to raise your voice, you just press a button.” fuck you Cindy, If I didn’t know what as coming your way, I’d wish ill upon you
27) “Structure is everything, It keeps her small in all the right ways.” You’ll find out soon enough.
28) “If there was a crack in Evan’s armor, Charity would find it. Not with rebellion. Not with rage. But with the quiet study of someone who no longer believed in mercy, only leverage.” That’s a bad ass line and the idea of Charity stratagising and plotting rebellion excites me, but does beg one question… Charity believed in mercy?
15) I think its a good thing, charity needs to accept her new little life and Evan is her new mom so for charity the tighter the bond the better for a better less stressful little life.
18) Evan being a good mom.
22) giant Cindy would be like Godzilla
24) Good Rules for a little Mom
25) She is describing herself as a little
26) love and affection is the best way to train, not punishment. Learned that training my Ridgeback dogs.
28) I had said it before I think Charity is smart enough to manipulate the giants with her cuteness
I will ahve to repsond to the rest of these later:
0) i’ve had alot of those lately. So i definitely get that.
1) THat would lessn the blow but being that Evan is younger I could see it being a little uncomfortable for her take in.
2) I mean its the same day. so it is a time skip but not much of one its like maybe 45 minutes to an hour. Its just cutting out the car ride between the end of hte salon and to seeing her doctor.
3) She is the leader of the group. You remember correctly
4) That was my thoguht. I had dr. wilson included at first. But I figured it woudl start to feel cheesy if literally every person sees dr. wilson.
5) thats probably why its complicated as they are new feelings.
6) This is exactly what happens. Although im not sure if you think it will seriously happen here.
7) Charity has an active role and responsibility. Which is something she hasnt had yet since becoming a little.
8) or care about more things then herself. Charity having a form of a job would be good for her even if some of it would be more down the road once the bonding is more in place.
9) Charity and Alejandra weren’t bonding. I mean neither was specifically trying either. But just becuse you choose a litlte or a little chooses you doesnt mean a bond is guaranteed without more work. Also you dont need to bond. its a bonus but not a requirement.
A)I think a bonded Evan and Charity will make a super team in the Madison community and hopefully will make Madison want to bond with her mom to be the parent and Cindy the child. That bonding process would be forever entertaining and what Cindy needs to be cuddled out of being Evil lol.
B) I would give Greg and Mackenzie a chance to spend time together at her work and school.
No worries, whenever you can, mate.
1) It would, Alejandra was the first time a main guardian was older than their Little
2) got it
3) thought so
6 & 7) Lol it happened right before my etes as I commented.
8) It would help, it’d also require Evan to hear and respect her Little.
9) I thought they were, like Charity was finding comfort in her touch and scent like a bonded little.
9) I think the bonding of Little to human is so interesting. So much drama good and bad as the humans body is taking over the littles body from the inside and they can feel it and cant fight it. I think the internal struggle of Cindy against Madison’s bonding would be entertaining and Greg’s opposite being ok with Kenz bonding because Greg is learning more about how evil Cindy is and needs a long break with Kenz.
10) Dogs being able to do things based on scent was where i got the idea. So you aren’t wrong.
10.2) I agree, there are worse things a little can be asked to do then this. This is actualyl a pretty reasonable ask here.
11) lol, its like a public service announcement.
12) The bond forming is the key thing. Evan is jumping the gun here a bit, but it seemed appropriate for her age and character.
13) I didn’t want the bond to be automatic. If a little and guardian or incompatible both sides need to work to make it happen. However, when you are compatible it comes quite easily and naturally.
When you are buying a little from little mart one of the things they look for is compatiblilty where Preematech doesnt care. Plus it allows for the little to have some defense if the person is horrible.
14) Thanks.
15) The heart strings are being tugged,,,but Charity sympathy wasn’t the intent here but i can see why she would get it. Although, As a character I don’t dis like charity even if she made bad choices.
16) Further fleshing out the world.
17) It would be a little sad if it was a loved one but also you dont have to bond to have a little. teh little and person could still be affectionate without a bond and they could work on forming one even if incompatible. It would just be difficult.
18) Well you have to remember healthcare in america isn’t free. So even a simple procedure is thousands of dolllars even with insurance. So its not like its a no brainer decision. She would need to have a very real talk with her parents and get it okayed. Its doubtful on the spot she could just agree to thousands of dollars of what would be considered elective medical.
The kingsley’s would probably be willing but they would probably plan it out. Evan was being a bit snarky though, however she was also not going to agree to elective medical without consulting her parents and mark would want to talk it over with his wife.
19) Well Madison and Brooklyn know charity through Evan and having gone to country club and events and seen and interacted with her. THey don’t intimately know her or anything. But they know who she is and have had light interaction.
20) Charity gonna charity in her finest form
21) Yeah, she would probably not want Charity’s chosen scent choices. Not that they couldn’t compromise on something neutral.
22) Shes not heavily involved in this part but it felt appropriate to include her in some way.
23) Its not bad life advice I agree.
24)The intent with the no sass is like in a parental way where a parent may say that to a kid. Its not intended to be super deep or some big law or rule to live by. Just common sense level of no sass or copping attitude.
25) Has charity down to a T.
26) I wanted her to be consistent with who she is and show kind of why madison does the things she does to Cindy. To further define Cindy’s character and what she believed in.
27) Knowing what happens to her does shed different light into what she says.
28) Charity believed in what she considered mercy. Her mercy and your mercy may be and probably are different.
10.2) I doubt it’ll be all that’s asked of her, though
11) Indeed, and about damn time.
12) It is a very common thing for girls her age.
13) Being incompatible is hardly a defence against a shitty guardian.
How do they check compatibility?
15) I guess it’s not just for Charity, it could be for any bonded Little.
17) Yeah, that’s good, but the way Dr Holland was talking about it made the bond seem like a mandatory part of being a guardian.
18) Healthcare is Free in this universe; it was established in Smallara Prime 222 that the money the government generated from Littles was partially used to make healthcare free.
I’m also sure Mark has the money for it, even if Charity doesn’t
19) I see, well, that’s still going to sting.
20) It is in her nature
21) Compromise is alright, respecting a Littles choice is better.
22) Very appropriate
24) Common sense is also vague and subjective, though.
25) They have so much in common
26) It’s a well-written scene that does exactly as you intended.
28) That sounds about right.
