Little Dayton VI

Ellie looked over her god-little, the doll-sized girl practicing ballet moves on a food court table, she’d seen Dayton dance before, even gotten dragged to a few of her recitals.  Ellie couldn’t help but draw similarities between Dayton’s ballet and the gymnastics she had left behind, the moves were precise, balanced, Sara had looked into enrolling Dayton in a Little dance class, though the closest one was in New Jersey.

Sara was at an evaluation for her mental health, one Dayton couldn’t attend which never made sense to Ellie, but she was hardly about to pass up an opportunity to take Dayton out on the town.  All across New York City Little boutiques and stores had been popping up like weeds, and she was going to take Dayton to all of them. Littlemart was the standard, of course, but there was a certain indie charm to the others Ellie couldn’t resist.

She’d set her eye on a Little haberdashery owned by the guardian of a fashion designer who refused to design clothes for humans after his infection, (though some had stolen and bootlegged his designs).

Her mind was pulled from her planning when Dayton faceplanted on her food, grunting in frustration as she pulled herself up.

“You could have just asked for a bite,” Ellie said cheerfully before helping Dayton up, “you OK”

“That keeps happening,” Dayton said in a huff, her dancing was rigid and disciplined, but it had been based around her human form, Dayton was now proportionally lighter and stronger, so leaps and jumps regularly went further and higher than intended, causing these repeated falls.  Sara had explained this to her, Tiff had explained it too her, Nicole, Kinsley and Chloe had all explained this to her, and part of Dayton feared Ellie was about to explain it to her as well, but her not understanding why wasn’t the issue, she had to unlearn and replace muscle memory she’d been building since she was four, two thirds of her life had to be undone.

Ellie, didn’t explain however, she just pet Dayton’s head gently and told her, “You’ll be alright, but take a break for me, ok? I don’t want that happening off the side of the table.”

After the meal Ellie collected Dayton and headed to the dress shop.  It was a small boutique called Herman’s Haberdashery, in a store that used to sell knock off toys, It was definitely an improvement.  Dayton climbed off Ellie’s hand and looked at the photos on the wall, they were some of the most beautiful Littles Dayton had ever seen, she recognised a few as models for the Littlemart website, something Sara had promised Dayton would be doing soon, hopefully her own next photoshoot.

As Dayton was looking at fabrics a Little man in a three piece suit approached, holding but not using a cain, “Welcome, you must be young Miss Reeves, here for your appointment.” the gentleman said, it had been a while since a store employee addressed her directly without acknowledging which ever human she was with.

“Yeah, are you Herman?” She asked in return, “where are the dresses?”

“Young lady, I fear you may have mis interpreted our business model, we don’t sell dresses, they’re made to order.” His voice wasn’t just professional, it was formal, like the butler in one of her mother’s period dramas based about nobility from the 1800’s, it made her feel important.

Herman then helped Dayton though the design process, her dress was a lavender colour with indigo and teal highlights, she even selects a neck piece that would cover her collar while still allowing her ID to be seen, as Herman explained “This is becoming more popular with the collaring Law,  it’s a legal way to ensure the collar’s colour didn’t dictate the colour scheme of all future outfits”.

Ellie watched eagerly as the process commenced, she was on the other side of a one-way mirror positioned so she could see but not be seen, she wanted to be involved, to make suggestions, or just give her opinion, but knew what it was more important to let Dayton make these choices on her own, without guardian interference.   So Ellie sat, waiting and chatting with Herman’s granddaughter and Guardian, enjoying her Godlittle’s interaction with the dressmaker.

As the car pulled into the Montgomery residence Ellie sat in the back seat, examining the photo of Dayton in the dress she’d bought her, the dress itself was in a tiny garment bag for it’s own protection.

“I told you; you’d love it.” Ellie’s voice was smug from watching Dayton admire the photo of herself.

“It’s alright,” Dayton said trying to hide the gratitude in her voice, “It’s pretty comfy.”

“You took your sweet time picking it,” Ellie teased, “you wanted to see every colour, every pattern, every fabric.”

“It’s called having standards,” Dayton responded, imitating the poshest voice she could, the kind Herman had used when serving her.

“Oh, of course, Little Princess,” Ellie joked as the door opened, turning her attention to the driver, “Thanks, Clint.”

“No worries,” Clint replied, “I’m glad I could help.”

“You always do,” Ellie said as she hopped out, she had an absentminded bounce in her step, which she stopped after a few strides seeing Dayton looking greener, “oops, forgot I was holding you.”

“I’m fine,” Dayton lied in a failed attempt to seem strong, she winced and cringed trying to avoid vomiting over Ellie’s hands.

Ellie continued into her house hugging her mother Rose and Tiffany as she entered.

“Hey Sweetie, did you have fun with Dayton?” Rose asked.

“Yeah, I took her to some Little things that had been popping up recently,” Ellie bragged, “Wanted to make her day with her new Godmother special.”

“I’m still her godmother,” Tiffany asserted, as she plucked Dayton from Ellie’s grasp, “Did you have a good day with Ellie?”

Dayton hugged Tiff’s finger planting a kiss on the tip, “Yeah, I had fun,” Dayton said, leaning into Tiff’s petting.  Dayton liked when Tiff petted her, it wasn’t a common occurrence, Mark pet her more often than Tiff did, and she saw him way less.

Ellie considered asking where Sara was, but the sound of water from upstairs answered that question for her.  She removed her shoes and got comfortable on the couch, resting a moment.

Sara strode into the living room, wearing casual clothes and a towel on her head, ‘You’re finally hear,” Sara said with excitement, looking over her friend, “Where’s Dayton?”

“She’s here,” Tiff called from the kitchen.  Dayton sprawled out on her palm as her finger stroked up and down her back.

Sara’s eyes lit up as she saw her Little, she wasn’t visibly sad prior, but her mood obviously improved once Dayton was in her grasp, Dayton also lit up once Sara was holding her.

Sara then joined Ellie on the couch, hugging her friend before just sitting beside her, “Show me the dress.” Sara said, as if Ellie didn’t already have it up on her phone.

“Can’t believe you bought her that,” Sara said.

“I’ll by a thousand dresses if that’s what my Little sister needs,” Ellie declared.

“Sister?” Dayton repeated.

“Yeah,” Sara explained, “I consider you my sister, and I consider Ellie my sister, which makes you both sisters as well.”

“Yeah, like how Sara is my sister, and Jacky’s sister.” Ellie declared with a mischievous grin.

“She’s not my sister!!” a young boy’s voice called out from the hallway.

“Yes she is Jacky, so be nice to her.”  Ellie commanded of her brother.

“No way!” Jack’s response came.

“Sara, I think OUR younger brother needs a hug from his second favourite sister.” Ellie whispered is Sara’s ear, like the devil on her shoulder.

“I think you’re right,” Sara said as she stood up… “Oh JJ, come here for a second.”

The sound of a ten-year-old running away were immediately followed by a fifteen-year-old sprinting in the same direction, laughter from both parties spilling out.

“Does he really think he’s fast enough?” Dayton asked

“Jacky runs track in school” Ellie explained, “if he didn’t want Sara to catch him, she couldn’t.”

“So, is… JJ my brother too then?” Dayton asked, figuring out the imaginary family tree that was being set up.

“I guess so,” Ellie answered.

“Then Nicole and Kinsley, would be more of our sisters?”

“Who’s Kinsley?” Ellie asked.

“Nicole’s sister,” Dayton replied

“I though her sister’s name was Mandy?” Said Ellie.

“She has two,” Dayton explained, “Kinsley’s her twin and Amanda’s her Little sister, both in age and species.”

“I’m gonna need a spreadsheet to keep track of my sisters at this rate.” Ellie joked.

“Come eat!” came a command from the kitchen, prompting the end of the chase.

Sara carried Jack to the table fireman style, triumphant in her ‘hunt’, the boy giggling as she did so.  Ellie was about to place Dayton on the table when Tiff stopped her.

“Did you wash her feet?” Tiff asked, “We don’t need footprints on your mother’s table, again.”

Ellie didn’t say a word, simply lifted Dayton higher and poked out her tongue.

“No,” Rose’s voice came booming from the other side of the table, “take her to the sink, use the hand soap.”

“I don’t think she was serious mommy,” Jacky defended his sister.

“Jackson,” She said affectionately, “you should know better than to play chicken with your sister.”

Ellie’s family is so sweet to Little Dayton, and I’m glad to see this back and I also enjoyed your Skaters story as well.

Hopefully, Zoe and Paige are next. I’ve been looking forward to seeing what happens next in that story since the first chapter was point earlier this year.

1) The only person better to go shopping with then Ellie would be Chloe. Both would have bottomless wallets. I feel like Dayton as a little would have a large wardrobe.

2) I like the idea of a little clothes designer in which the guardian is running the store for. It reminds me of an idea for a story i have had for awhile where a songwriter catches smallara and the guardian uses them to write songs for there own fame.

3)Dayton deserved that faceplant.

4)….explain it to her as well, but her not understanding why wasn’t the issue, she had to unlearn and replace muscle memory she’d been building since she was four, two thirds of her life had to be undone.

That would be hard. Having to unlearn something that is basically muscle memory at that point.

5) “You’ll be alright, but take a break for me, ok? I don’t want that happening off the side of the table.” Dayton yeeting herself off the table would be a very lethal scene. But that would be bad for Ellie. Sara would be devastated.

6)she recognised a few as models for the Littlemart website, something Sara had promised Dayton would be doing soon, hopefully her own next photoshoot.

Is Dayton a model in this timeline?

7)“Young lady, I fear you may have mis interpreted our business model, we don’t sell dresses, they’re made to order.”

This sounds about right for Ellie although I think for Dayton that would be a bonus. she would like things scaled and designed for her specifically.

8) I like how Ellie has fully embrassed the godlittle ideal.

9)“It’s alright,” Dayton said trying to hide the gratitude in her voice, “It’s pretty comfy.”
A pro Dayton move in hiding gratitude.

10)“You took your sweet time picking it,” Ellie teased, “you wanted to see every colour, every pattern, every fabric.”

This is very Dayton. Every option needs to be known and diagnosed so she can analyze to make the decision. I appreciate you really nailing the Dayton intricacies

11) It would be have been funny if she had ended up vomiting on the new dress because of Ellie.

12) “I’m still her godmother,” Tiffany asserted, as she plucked Dayton from Ellie’s grasp, “Did you have a good day with Ellie

Stepping of Tiff’s toes. I feel like Tiffany probably would be more engaging with Dayton then Jordy. I also like the idea of Ellie feeling like seh is the true godmother.

13) Mark pet her more often than Tiff did, and she saw him way less.

That checks out. Tiff cant show to much emotion or care toward a little.

14)Sara’s eyes lit up as she saw her Little, she wasn’t visibly sad prior, but her mood obviously improved once Dayton was in her grasp, Dayton also lit up once Sara was holding her.

Sara does like seeing her littles and having them around. I can see her bouncing a bit as she spots Dayton.

15) Dayton being considered Ellie’s sister checks out. Jacky seems to not like the idea very much.

16) “I though her sister’s name was Mandy?” Said Ellie.

“She has two,” Dayton explained, “Kinsley’s her twin and Amanda’s her Little sister, both in age and species.”

I like how you worked in the canon/lore.
