Dayton walked into her room carrying her LIttle Mart bags. She neatly put the Pellets into onto a shelf orderly making sure to sort them by meal and day. She liked the idea of Sunday being pot roast day for Ezra.
Slowly she put the rest of the stuff away not ignoring Ezra but not focusing on him either. She didnt make any move to purposefully reach out or speak to him and he didnt either. Dayton could see him purposefully trying to make it look like he wasnt watching her even though he was.
When she had just finished up her laptop made a ringing noise. It filled the room as Dayton walked across the room sitting down at her desk before unlocking her laptop. As soon as she unlocked Ezra could hear her click a few buttons.
“OMG CHRISSY!!!” Dayton said excitedly before seeing Londyn in the background. “Hey Londyn” Dayton added as she watched her briefly lounging on Chrissy’s bed.
“Ugh you should have been here today Day.” Chrissy started to say but Dayton immediately interrupted.
“The SEA came to my school she blurted out. Like full armor, guns, the works. So now I’m probably under watch.” Dayton said making sure to sound casual but making sure to subtly emphasize under watch.”
“Holy hell,” Chrissy blurted the second Dayton’s camera turned on. Her face filled the screen in warm California light, hair half up like she’d done it in a hurry. “Okay, so it is about your tiny teacher.”
Londyn slid into frame from the side like she’d been summoned by drama alone, eyebrow already raised. “I heard ‘tiny teacher’ and my spirit left my body.”
Dayton sat back in her desk chair, hoodie sleeves pulled over her hands. Behind her, the acrylic habitat sat on the dresser like a weird little aquarium for a person. “Yes. It’s about Mr. Rhys. Which is crazy because he’s still trying to act like he’s… you know. Mr. Rhys.”
Chrissy made a face. “Like he’s still running the classroom?”
“Literally,” Dayton said. “Like, he was going all anti-government, no collar, no guardian, ‘I’m still a teacher’ vibes.”
Londyn’s eyes narrowed. “And he’s been picking on you forever. Like, you’ve been saying he’s weird about you since sixth grade.”
“Because he is,” Dayton said, and her voice went flat in a way that made it sound like she’d repeated this in her own head a hundred times. “He’s been doing that thing where he says my name like I’m… gum on his shoe.”
Chrissy leaned closer to her camera. “So where is he right now.”
Dayton lifted her laptop with both hands and angled it toward the dresser. “He’s in the habitat behind me.”
The camera wobbled, then focused.
Inside the habitat, Ezra sat on a tiny foam couch like a dollhouse version of a person trying very hard not to be a dollhouse person. Black collar. Tiny tag. A little Charm that caught the light when he moved.
Chrissy went completely still. “No way.”
Londyn’s mouth fell open. “Oh my god, he’s actually… he’s actually in your room.”
Dayton, like she was showing off a new backpack: “Yup.”
“Dayton,” Londyn said slowly, “that is a grown man. In a box. In your bedroom.”
“He’s my Little now,” Dayton said, and there was a tiny emphasis on my that she didn’t even try to hide.
Chrissy made a noise somewhere between a laugh and a gasp. “This is insane. This is, like… New York is a different country.”
Dayton turned the laptop back to herself and called over her shoulder without looking. “Say hi, Ezra. Don’t be a gloomy gus.”
Ezra’s shoulders lifted with a breath. He stood, careful and measured, and stepped closer to the clear wall where the camera pointed.
“Hello,” he said, voice polite in that teacher way he couldn’t seem to take off. “Chrissy. Londyn.”
Londyn blinked like she hadn’t expected him to actually talk. Then she recovered and lifted her hand in a little wave. “Hey, New York.”
Chrissy waved too, then immediately whispered-shouted, “I cannot believe this is real.”
Dayton’s eyes flicked to the habitat, sharp and watchful, then back to her friends. “It’s real.”
Londyn leaned back on Chrissy’s bed, processing. “Wait. So you’re, like… his guardian. For real-for real.”
Dayton popped the P again, almost a joke. “Yup.”
Chrissy’s eyebrows shot up. “Are you really gonna bring him here when you visit your dad?”
Dayton reached off-screen and pulled a small travel carrier into view like she’d been waiting for this exact line. It was padded, structured, with a clear front panel and little vents. “I literally just got back from Little Mart. Look.”
Chrissy squinted, then squealed. “Stop. That’s actually cute.”
“It’s not cute,” Londyn said automatically, then leaned closer anyway because she was curious. “Okay it’s… kind of cute. But like… in a dystopian way.”
Dayton flipped a latch and opened it, pointing like she was giving a tour. “So you fill the water reservoir here, and then these pellets go here, and it dispenses so I don’t have to open it every five seconds. And it has a snap-in bed and a snap-in sofa.”
Chrissy’s eyes widened. “That is so extra.”
“It’s called being prepared,” Dayton said.
Londyn pointed at the screen. “You sound like a mom. Like you sound like you’re about to be like, ‘Ezra needs enrichment time.’”
Dayton’s mouth twitched. “He does.”
Ezra’s jaw tightened so slightly it was almost invisible, but the bell on his collar made a soft tink when he shifted his weight.
Chrissy noticed. Of course she noticed. Chrissy had the kind of face that saw everything and made it your problem. “Is he… mad?”
Dayton shrugged like she didn’t care, but her eyes did a quick check on him again. “He can be mad. That’s not my issue.”
Londyn made a face. “Dayton, you’re acting like he’s a hamster.”
“He’s not a person, he’s a little. He can be more like Kinsley and Thomas but he has to earn it.” Dayton said, blunt and practiced.
There was a minute of quiet on the call.
Chrissy’s voice softened, careful. “Okay, but like… he’s still Mr. Rhys. In there.”
Ezra didn’t speak, but he didn’t look away either. He held still, like he knew any reaction would become evidence.
Dayton kept her voice normal, almost too normal. “He’s Ezra now. And he’s going to follow the rules.”
Londyn sat up straighter. “What rules.”
Dayton lifted her hand and flattened her palm in front of the laptop camera, like she was showing them a signal. “This means he climbs into my hand. No hesitation. No talking.”
Chrissy’s eyes went wide again. “You have, like, hand commands?”
“It’s basic,” Dayton said, like this was obvious. “It keeps him safe.”
Londyn stared. “You’re terrifying.”
Dayton smiled sweetly. “Thank you.”
Chrissy half-laughed, half-groaned. “You’re gonna show up in California with a little teacher in a backpack carrier and your dad is gonna be like, ‘What did New York do to you.’”
Dayton’s grin went sharper. “Dad won’t care. He’s chill.”
Londyn tilted her head. “What about Nicole? Isn’t she gonna freak out that you’re just… traveling with a Little teacher?”
Dayton snorted. “Nicole freaks out about, like, dust.”
Chrissy leaned closer to her screen again, voice dropping like she was sharing gossip. “Wait wait wait. Does Hayden know?”
Dayton rolled her eyes. “Everyone knows. It happened in class.”
Londyn let out a low whistle. “That is brutal.”
Chrissy’s eyes darted to the habitat again. “Does he hate you.”
Dayton paused for half a second. It wasn’t dramatic. It was just… honest. “Probably.”
Ezra’s voice came again, controlled and quiet. “This isn’t something I get to vote on.”
Chrissy’s face tightened, sympathy flickering, then she swallowed it back like she wasn’t sure what was allowed to exist on this call. “Okay. Um. So. Ezra. What’s it like being in a… habitat.”
Ezra looked like he wanted to answer with a whole novel. Instead he chose the safest sentence in the world. “It’s… an adjustment.”
Londyn muttered, “Understatement of the century.”
Dayton snapped the carrier shut and set it on her desk with a soft thunk. “He’ll adjust.”
Chrissy stared at Dayton for a long second, then exhaled. “New York Dayton is… different.”
Dayton lifted her chin like she was daring the universe to argue. “New York Dayton is correct.”
Londyn pointed at the camera. “Okay, listen. I’m not saying you’re wrong. I’m just saying if you pull up to LAX with a tiny man in a carrier, I’m filming it.”
Dayton’s smile went bright and mean-cute at the same time. “Film whatever you want. Just don’t get me flagged.”
Chrissy burst out laughing. “Bro she’s literally thinking about TSA for Littles.”
Dayton leaned in toward her laptop, lowering her voice like it was a secret even though it wasn’t. “I’m thinking about everything.”
Behind her, Ezra sat down again on the tiny couch, posture rigid, hands folded. The little bell on his collar gave one quiet, helpless chime as he moved.
And Dayton, still watching him out of the corner of her eye, kept talking like this was just… her life now.
Chrissy, my goat, future guardian/ owner, has appeared. Best story ever!
I expected this response from you. Knowing how much you enjoy the character of chrissy.
Haha, yep cause Chrissy is awesome. So this is now my favorite episode of the story.
I like Chrissy also. If Ezra was smart he would suck up to her for some cuddles if he sees her lol.
Oh boy this duo is going to be very rough watch their clearly some negative emotions towards each other at the moment nothing extreme but I wouldn’t say anything to just ignore either.
I’ll be surprised if they make it out on better terms in the long run but hey you never know.
Also yaaay Chrissy is back ! I would love to see a Scott and Ezra meet up.
I could definitely see doing a Dayton and Chrissy/Londyn episode in the future. Im not sure if it would be a season or a one off. I’d lean towards a one off as sometimes those work better for these kind of things.
A one-off would feel more special.
Damn I conflicted I wouldn’t mind a one of but I would also like a season of that story too gaaaahh
Ohhhh sign the up for that whenever that happens….hopefully soon lol
Ezra and Scott meeting up be like.
The Little who knew too much and the Little who remembers nothing.
Damn that kinda true actually huh nice one
I can honestly seem becoming best friends easily forming a sorta bromance between them lol as Chrissy and Dayton have a similar relationship to so that will be fun to see
It been interesting seeing everyone’s stance on Ezra and Dayton and their future together I do hope it becomes more…..let’s do positive with each other rather than trauma, past experience and wrongs by both sides.
I think it could be positive in time. As time heals all wounds as they say. I think proximity and living and being together would naturally grow their relationship positively as they can see postives and not just what bothers them in 60 minute daily doses.
Both sides will need to compromise i think and both sides will need to forgive. As Dayton defiantely went to far by claiming ezra but Ezra went to far by bullying her in my opinion.
but i do think in time this could be better as some of daytons faults are from her mother and you can see her softening the more she is with Chloe and Sara, Chrissy and Londyn, Nicole and kinsley, Ellie etc.
As just like real kids as you get older you start taking in more sources and ideals from people that arent just your parents.
So you can see Dayton kind of softening. Right now she is in a transition between old dayton and new dayton. I mean she may never be as kind of chloe or chrissy or londyn but alot of people arent as nice as them and still kind people. She would just be a bit of a brattier version of kind.
True very true hopefully we see that apology moment soon because they definitely need it but I give it a week maybe by next week ( in the story lol) they’ll have that moment I think Sara and Jordan had that moment in their second week? Sorta
Should we expect a timeskip by the way not now obviously but soon or later depending on how many chapters we got left her I’m assuming it’s over 100
1) “not ignoring Ezra but not focusing on him either. She didnt make any move to purposefully reach out or speak to him and he didnt either.” giving him space is good
2) “OMG CHRISSY!!!” Oh, the cross over I have NOT been waiting for
3) “The SEA came to my school she blurted out. Like full armor, guns, the works. So now I’m probably under watch.” Damn it Dayton don’t interupt her, she was trying to tell you something
4) “Like he’s still running the classroom?” You’re gonna have a teacher in a similar position one day Chrissy
5) “A little bell that caught the light when he moved.” I though his charms negated the need for a bell
6) ““He’s my Little now,” Dayton said, and there was a tiny emphasis on my that she didn’t even try to hide.” This (while still toned down) is the kind of showing off and bragging that I was expecting from Dayton
7) “Say hi, Ezra. Don’t be a gloomy gus.” Getting him to greet strangers for their entertainment is another showy behaviour I expected from Dayton
8) “Wait. So you’re, like… his guardian. For real-for real.” Unfortunately
9) “Are you really gonna bring him here when you visit your dad?” are we ever gonna see her dad?
10) “Okay it’s… kind of cute. But like… in a dystopian way.” Careful Londyn, Last time Dayton heard someone criticise the system, she called the feds on them. lol
11) ““Is he… mad?” Dayton shrugged like she didn’t care, but her eyes did a quick check on him again. “He can be mad. That’s not my issue.” Yes, he’s mad, and if Dayton wants a healthy relationship with him, she’ll need to let it be her problem; she wanted to be responsible for him, which includes taking his emotional well-being into account.
12) ““Dayton, you’re acting like he’s a hamster.” – “He’s not a person,” Real Dayton poking though a bit this episode.
13) ““You have, like, hand commands?” – “You’re terrifying.” – “Thank you.” Part of me was glad there was criticism coming for her, but this just seems more jokey than that
14) “Nicole freaks out about, like, dust.” talking shit about her friends
15) “Does he hate you.” – “Probably.” As he should, but it’s not like Dayton doesn’t hate him just as much.
16) “Okay. Um. So. Ezra. What’s it like being in a… habitat.” It’s oppression dressed in normality, Dayton claims it’s not a cage, but if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck.
17) “It’s… an adjustment.” – “Understatement of the century.” Little suffering is typically understated by humans
18) “He’ll adjust.” Dayton has decided that he will be forced to fit the mould she picked out for him
19) “New York Dayton is… different.” – “New York Dayton is correct.” Sounds like Chrissy is seeing the real Dayton, not the version that goes to her dad’s home.
20) “Okay, listen. I’m not saying you’re wrong.” Of course not, the only one willing to say that’s wearing a collar with Dayton’s name on it.
I think Dayton has no choice to TRAIN Ezra to be a good little per SEA standards because they are keeping an eye on both of them. Dayton will have to give him read only access to the little net because he can’t be trusted.
