Jordan was sickened by Dayton’s words. The idea that Sara would believe her over him didn’t seem possible. He also didn’t want to risk being wrong. What if Sara did side with Dayton? Jordan didn’t have any more time to ponder as the palm of Dayton wrapped around the plastic ball. Jordan swayed from side to side as Dayton lifted the ball up until it was back to where he started. The beaming face of Dayton relishing the fact that he was trapped behind. He wished he could punch the gloating face of Dayton.
“Day, you have to be careful with him. I didn’t intend for you to just keep him in there beyond today. I thought we would use it as a consequence of his actions. It’s clear he doesn’t want to be in there. So he should correct his behavior and actions to avoid having to go back.”
“It’s so cool to see him in here though. I also like that I can easily just pick up the ball and he’s right there. Even if he tried to run away he would be easy to spot. No hiding when he’s in here. Sara won’t have to worry about him getting killed or hurt either. She has that cat Mocha think about how much safer he would be in here.” Dayton added.
“I’m sure he doesn’t want to be cooped up in a ball all-day.” Nicolle asserted
“I really wish I was his guardian. Do you think Sara would sell him to me?” Dayton said as she peered into the ball.
“You can’t just buy him like that. He’s not a toy. They stressed that in guardian training. That you can’t buy, sell or trade an underbred. It would be like trafficking. Only the government can facilitate a transfer, and they aren’t common.” Nicolle added.
“Well, that sucks. A different one might not be as fun. I should find out in a couple of weeks if Mom is gonna get me one. As the next guardian class starts in like three weeks and that would be the one I’d have to take to be able to get a underbred for my birthday.”
“Are you sure you really want to be a guardian? It’s a lifelong commitment and isn’t all that great.” Nicolle said.
“That’s because yours is your sister. So you got saddled with all her chores plus the added responsibility. It’s a shame you can’t even trade them. As then I could trade for Body Hottie.”
“Sara would never give me to you.” Jordan shouted and then mumbled, “You’re the last person who should be a guardian.”
Jordan could barely imagine what his life would be like if he had been found by someone like Dayton instead of Sara. The idea of being lorded over by a brat half his age and never getting a moment to rest. Having to deal with her hands grasping him but unlike now where he got to leave with Sara. He would be stuck with Dayton 24/7. It was a nightmarish hellscape he didn’t want to think about any further.
